Africans didn't (and generally still don't) feel like other groups of Africans are their people. To a Ghanaian, a Congolese would be almost as foreign as the European colonists (at the time. The experience of colonialism has united the African identity somewhat). This is true of every inhabited continent on Earth and doesn't excuse the horrors of chattel slavery.

They are using the word “captives” like the Portuguese and others captured these Africans and made them slaves.
It was a TRADE. That’s why it was called The Trans-Atlantic Slave TRADE !
They were captives , but captured by their fellow African Tribes and then TRADED to the Portuguese and other European countries.
Also, everyone teaches slavery as it started at this point. It has been going on forever and wasn’t about race , it was about TRADE and POWER.
The word Slave comes from the word Slav, meaning a Slavic person.
It was coined this word because of the Slavic people being enslaved by the Moors and other African and Muslim peoples.
History hurts and I’m not discounting any pains by pointing out the truths of the the Slave TRADE and that slavery existed well before that point and that Africans were doing most of the slave trading then and now.
As there are more slaves on earth today , then there was back in that time.
Where is the fight for all of their freedom ?? Where is the fight for reparations for all the enslaved peoples in Africa and Asia ???
We need to recognize truth in everything and realize this was never about race but about the vulnerable being turned into resources.
God bless you all. And I welcome you to fact check anything I wrote and ask any questions.

Actually European slave traders came to the coast only and bought slaves. The African kingdoms along this coast fought and took slaves as captives. They had a culture of slavery and it had been going on for hundreds of years before Europeans showed up. As did the rest of the world. The Africans sold their domestic slaves to European traders for weapons and other goods.
After the British abolished slavery in the 1830s they sent ambassadors to the African kingdoms trying to persuade them to stop trading slaves but the African kingdoms refused. It was an important source of wealth for them.
In the 1850s the British sent warships to African ports to try to blockade the ports to prevent the slave trade.
But nowadays this history has been twisted and so European people are made to apologize to Africans even though it was the African kingdoms who sold them to us. The narrators ancestors may have become wealthy from selling African slaves to Europeans.

Some things you might not know, the trans Atlantic slave trade accounted for 10% of traded slaves in the last 1000 years. Africans were already selling slaves for decades before the "English" showed up to buy slaves. 10 times more African slaves were sold east to Arabs where they were castrated.
There are more slaves in the world now than were sold in the transatlantic slave trade.
The largest slave owner in history was an African king.
The "English" fought and died to end slavery worldwide, a part of human history for hundreds of thousands of years by all peoples and it was the English that stop it and drove it underground making it illegal worldwide.
The word slave comes from slav which means white people. We have all been slaves. White people ended slavery.

How ? Only chiefs were able to do that and there are records of chiefs even being captured and killed my Europeans because they stood and fought ! Don’t try altering history and the atrocities committed by the Europeans on the motherland

No! Africans sold Hebrew Israelites! Our captivity is in the Bible and we are the only people who fit the curse’s written in Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26.
