- Long in planning, but never quite forgotten - this Flash animation was made as an affectionate parody of the classic 1990 DOS-game, Prince of Persia developed by Jordan Mechner.
I don't claim credit for the game or sprites taken from it - this is just a non-profit spoof of the simple storyline, with a lot of other references thrown in for good measure. - ตลก

I did have that line for Sultan before as one of the captions for a series of POP screenshots I took from the DOS-Box emulator, as it struck me as a hilarious reason for the Princess to be married off to a common beggar... XD

I was watching this at 5 years old, only been 9 years since I last saw this absolute masterpiece.
That was kind of a reference to a bit in-game where that one warrior just stands ground defensively... you have to take the fight to him! ;)
IMO, the dog ripping apart the skeleton at 7:55 was the best part...

@@DCLeadboot the first 7 notes of the Mario theme, not played as music but as POP sound effects. The notes aren't musical notes they are just to the beat of the original song. Look up Mario theme ping pong if you want to see another example of someone elses non musical version.
That's not the Mario theme though, that's the "end of level" jingle from Prince of Persia itself. Any connection with Mario is entirely coincidental... XD;

Bitplex well, earlier before that, there was a bridge that behaved similarly to the Bowser Battle Bridges in SMB1.

This would really be better in a shorter version. You've got some really funny stuff there, but not all of it is strong and this is a very simple concept after all. Also references are fun (and I love MP to death), but there are so many of them - they loose impact. Please take it as a constructive criticism, you've done a huge job with this material and I tip my hat to you, sir.

Just the "tempus mori" is wrong.... (the purpose clauses in Latin don't work just with bare infinitive just like in English "time die" doesn't work without the preposition, while e.g. "I can die" works without a preposition ) ... I commented only on this Latin, since this was the closest one to the real Latin :)

British humour abounds, yes... a number of references to Monty Python, for instance. That line about guards being expensive paraphrased a line from Holy Grail.

Thanks very much! Certainly Monty Python had some influence... especially the Lancelot moment when Prince went on a murderous rampage to speedrun those last filler levels! 😆
It was a fair bit of work, but at least once I had the game sprites sorted out, Flash was useful in helping me organise the graphics. 🙂

I'm pretty sure the fight @ 15:15 is a reference to XiaoXiao animations, and the sounds are the same. So why isn't it in the credits?
Perhaps there was an unintended influence, though really I was more referencing the Asterix videogames (hence the Magic Potion that gave Prince a short burst of super-strength)

Oh my, this is so funny! I loved this game as a child and still think it's great. So many things made me laugh, rescuing the princess at the end was hilarious! Other highlights for me was the "I like Cherry Pie", and then run straight into the wall, the Mr Bean bit, the shadow singing Doopty Doopty Doo, deciding to use the skull as a weapon, then grabbing the sword instead and just throwing the skull aside, and battling the bigger guard. :D Brilliant job,adding to favourites!
