Hello Indiana Jack. I am a lady trucker. Used to team drive with my husband but unfortunately he passed away a few months ago. I’ve taken a leave of absence to have time to sort everything out and I’ll tell you, I really miss being on the truck having adventures. It’s familiar to hear you refer to trucking as being an adventure it’s my favorite phrase too. I Came across your channel by a happy accident. I try and stay in the trucking mindset by watching videos of trucking. I have to say I am addicted to your show!! You have such an excellent disposition and such good manners. I’ve been able to get my trucking fix vicariously through your presentations. I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy riding with you. You’ve filmed a lot of the same places and highways that I’ve traveled and it has been refreshing to see them again with a new perspective. Keep on filming your wonderful videos and I’m definitely looking forward to your next one. I wish you many happy trails🚚🚚🚚. Maybe we will cross paths out there one day.
Many Happy trials to. you Mother Truker , your reply is very touching, Just started watching Mr. Jack myself . His cool is Del Dios MarkSD. God Bless...
I keep comin back here Jack. I Think it is because you understand the balance between trucking and talking. Many of the things you tell us, other tubers would tell at a truckstop with the camera in their face and it gets boring listening to them. With you I can listen to you and old red and see you truckin Down the road at the same time. It truly becomes and adventure! Anyway, Just my 5 cents from Denmark ! Thank you ! and god luck over there to you and old red 👍
Thanks again Jack your adventure makes me look at trucking way different. In a good way! Your always positive jack and it makes me have a different out look on driving a truck. Stay safe and keep it between the lines!!!! You're awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I had a play with sliding my tandems as the load I picked up was 43,300 pounds. Jumped on the cat scale. And found I was heavy on the trucks tandems. But also had to fuel. Was happy to find out that the first scale house was closed running north on I 40. Which gave me a few miles to blow off some of the new fuel I just inquired. The second scale house however need me green. Heading to the north west portion of Wisconsin.
Hi Jack, I sub to a few truckers, but really look forward to your videos specifically, when the notification pops up. Thanks for sharing your trucking time.
when i was hauling potatoes, i knew the shippers would try to max out the weight, so i always filled my fuel tanks 1st, even the reefer. then when i pre-scaled at the shipper, they couldn't max me out. sometimes the receiver wants so many pounds of potatoes, but i wasn't going long distances without fuel ,and run out somewhere along the way. plus the Rockies are high mountains, climbing up and down them takes a lot of fuel. in my day, we didn't have all the toy's y'all have today.
Yes it has been a nice long adventure and already looking forward to the next one Jack. Your rides are always pleasant and well edited. Thank you for sharing.
I know Ol'Red has done you proud over the years, but I definitely understand if you want to enjoy some more up to date creature comforts that will help you to ride easy on into retirement. I really like that new VNL860 but a 2015 VNL780 is closer to my budget. Whatever you do with Ol'Red, just make sure she's happy 👍
I hauled lot's of produce from the Salinas area to the east coast. If they overloaded me, I would usually go back and get a pallet taken off. No worries with fuel being too heavy. Dodged too many scales to put up with that. Love the movies and good luck with your new adventure!
Pull a little trailer behind your regular trailer with a fuel cell mounted on it that can hold 500 gallons, LOL. ... Talking of fuels, make sure you are putting in the additives for Algae & injector cleaner that also cleans carbon off the valves in with your fuel. I would also carry extra fuel filters with me and a strap wrench ( or what ever wrench it takes, some filters have a bolt welded to the top) to get the old filter off and snug up the new one. Make sure you grease or use a heavy oil on the new seal ring or "O" ring when replacing any filter. Check the water separator often too, take a sample into a little jar and leave it settle for while (perhaps overnight on your 10 hour break) and that will really help you to know the condition of your fuel which is important that the truck does not leave you sit somewhere but more so for fuel millage. .....I don't hear of many trucks doing much better than 6 miles to the gallon on average...... Always nice riding with you Jack. Stay safe and Gold Bless.
Oklahoma gives that 1,000 lbs. allowance. The way ODOT explained it to me was, 1,000 lbs. won't even get you called in, and up to 1,500 lbs. is at the discretion of the officer on duty.
If I go into a shipper that I know is going to load me heavy, I always make sure I have full tanks when I roll in so I can have the load reworked to accommodate the full tanks. I know this only works if the shipper has a scale, but just an idea to make sure they don't cut your fuel weight out when they load you.
I just got from the road with a family member we did a "short run" which there and back was about 8 hundred and something miles.after my trip I learned that i have much more respect for all truck, drivers than before!! Its not easy as it seems! And Trying to sleep in the bunk on a empty load and bumpy roads made me feel like i just got ran over by a bull.I didnt get much sleep (until I arrived back home) lol
Jack when they award you the Trucker of the Year designation, if they name a truck stop after you imagine the confusion! You pull into a Montana truck stop and it says Indiana Jacks!
Steve Urbach , of he scaled out and has the ticket showing he did then the ticket should be charged to the scale company. Jack did his part that showed he was legal. Right?
As you i am in the i trucking undustry . I do agree with you my truks carry 240 to 300 gallins of fuel . It would be great the weight of the fuel would be excempt. I would be happy with 1000 lb leeway . We cant forget reefer fuel .My reefers carry 50 gallons . Everything adds up .
Another great adventure Jack!, enjoy your video's, what a awesome way to earn a living. I spent years in a Volvo, the conventionals weren't common in NZ, all FH cab overs, what ever model great trucks. can't wait for your next adventure.
The weight of gas problem.. if a truck is over weight, the weight stations should look at the gas reading in the truck and calculate a weight of gas to subtract from weight total. Seems easy enough to create a mathematical formula.
Hi Jack🙂, Nice to see You’re having a nice trip again! Yep, I miss Ol’Red, but I’m one of those gals that like Volvo rigs. Do You miss having the stick-shift vs. that automatic transmission yet??- I sure would!, but I can’t stand automatic tranny’s... too much unplanned maintenance if You ask me. Also, You are driving a refer trailer this time which I’m not used to You driving, how is that going? Thanks again for the GREAT video again, You make my favorite thing to watch on TH-cam. I’d restore Ol’Red If I where You unless You find another Volvo rig You like better. 👍🏽😎 Take care & drive safe my friend, -Kerrye
Indiana Jack brings up some valid points ..... Where are the brilliant minds of today, compared to those of years ago? Why make the drivers pay for first-class? Over-loading by shippers would stop immediately, if there were mandates holding the shipper accountable for it! After all, isn't it THEIR responsibility to know what is being shipped to THEIR customers? Truck drivers are only hired to haul someone else's product! And the point you make stating how foolish it is for a shipper to load a truck so heavy that the driver isn't able to legally top off the fuel to get the product to the destination!! Being able to haul fuel is equally as important as getting the product there!
I parked overnight at that Pilot in Wildwood FL long ago they didn't have it blocked like that then. I wounder when and why they would block it off like that.
That water was melted Ice on that lettece . Sometime the shipper will have ice on the product or will direct you to go to a ice house where they spray the ice in .
I don’t know I just went up through Cincinnati oh Em Gee those are the worst roads I have ever been on in my whole 15 days of over the road truck driving. LOL
Hi Jack, love all your efforts. As far as "Old Red" and, Volvo Logo Trucks. Maybe, you should contact Volvo and have them recognize a Well Know "Million Mile Truck" and see if they would sponsor a restore and promo campaign. Just a thought... Marketing can be quite profitable for ALL parties if successful. Love all your work and efforts. Stay happy and safe out there!
That is amazing looking truck I have been everyday looking for companies to drive for it’s like I have had my CDL a year and I have been really thinking about using it I have had so many people tell me to use it and follow my dream it’s like it’s has been hard
Charge the Shippers for any OVERWEIGHT the truckers have to pay for moving their Cargo.. Then pay the trucker double the amount for moving that freight.. The Truckers will soon be moving cargo well under the allowable weight limits.. If the Truckers were ORGANIZED the shippers would soon find out that nobody will move their freight..
I think any shippers that load trucks over 36 or 38000 should be required to have a certified scale on site. And a driver should always be required to top off there tanks before arriving at any shipper..
Trouble is the politicians of the last 110 years have been TALKers not DOers. If they had to DO it then the regulations would be in favour of making it easy and simple. All they have done is make it harder for DOing folk, and easy for TALKing folk. Same here in the great land DOWN UNDER.
@7.1 lbs/gal, 200 gal of fuel would be just over 1400 lbs. Add then the weight of refer fuel, and the fact that your refer compressor is forward of the king pin, they shouldn't be loading the front 4' of you trailer at all
Jack, have you ever met or known a driver who actually lived in their truck? Odd question I know, but I subscribed to some TH-cam channels of people who live in their SUV/Jeeps and travel full-time. That got me to thinking of the potential nest egg a driver could save in such an arrangement.
Jack is the only person who can help you with this Problem is the government I know for I can remember when fuel was 0.23 per gallon I was in Ohio and drove to Florida and Paid 1.10 per gallon that's what it is for the trucking industry today Chaplain Darrel
I am not a trucker, but You should of had the baked potato at Wendy's. Thanks for hauling those taters. We got to have them potatoes French fried, chips, mashed, or baked.
I'm glad you didn't have any 'hot potatoes' on this trip! As far as your weight is concerned, you are over weight with full fuel tanks. Take your pick, more fuel, or more load? Just like a horse jockey you have to be weight conscious! Safe travels my friend!

Jack... by far the best trucking videos on TH-cam. Thank You. I enjoy watching and learning. You are really funny too.
Another great video thanks Jack. Your production quality just gets better all the time which puts you on another level. Safe travels.
jack-- old retired trucker from Mich.. love watching--keep up the good rides--stephen

I realize Im kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released series online?
@Jimmy Bryant flixportal :D

Any day you release a new video is a good day. I enjoy all of them. Quite the adventure indeed!
Oklahoma gives that 1,000 lbs. allowance. The way ODOT explained it to me was, 1,000 lbs. won't even get you called in, and up to 1,500 lbs. is at the discretion of the officer on duty.
Glad you made the trip safe and sound got unloaded always enjoy your videos and Adventures be safe
hi jack< im a new subscriber. love your videos. thanks for the ride. stay safe.
Keep them coming Jack, your videos are very entertaining and I get to go places I have never been,God bless

I sure hope that broker gave you detention pay, waiting that long is crazy. You sir is a American icon,I enjoy your videos!

I like the title, crafted after the Hollies song "She ain't heavy"!
Hey. I like your videos. Congress needs to step up and discuss funding a infrastructure bill for all our bridges and roads. Its long overdue.
If your CAT scale says one weight and the state says Overweight. Ask to see the weights and measures seal (dated) for their scale.
Steve Urbach , of he scaled out and has the ticket showing he did then the ticket should be charged to the scale company. Jack did his part that showed he was legal. Right?
As the trucker YOU notify the shipper of the Weight limit of their freight prior to loading and have them verify the weight of their load!
As you i am in the i trucking undustry . I do agree with you my truks carry 240 to 300 gallins of fuel . It would be great the weight of the fuel would be excempt. I would be happy with 1000 lb leeway .

Love the sound of the engine!
I've been to that receiver before but when I went, I was stuck from Friday evening to Sunday waiting to unload there
Another great adventure Jack!, enjoy your video's, what a awesome way to earn a living. I spent years in a Volvo, the conventionals weren't common in NZ, all FH cab overs, what ever model great trucks. can't wait for your next adventure.
Your videos are always great! Well edited! Keep up the great work and always drive safe!
Great video, I really enjoy your trips.

Where is Ben Franklin??? Driving 'Big Red' hauling potatos to Florida. You are a patient man!!~~~J
1 gallon of diesel weighs 6 pounds. I had half a tank when I scale. Which brought me to 78,740 pounds. Two 100 gallon tanks added 1600 pounds.
Thanks Jack.
Old Ben Franklin would tell you Jack, "An ounce of potatoes is worth a pound of fuel!!"
Hi Jack🙂,
Nice to see You’re having a nice trip again!
Yep, I miss Ol’Red, but I’m one of those gals that like Volvo rigs.
Do You miss having the stick-shift vs. that automatic transmission yet??- I sure would!, but I can’t stand automatic tranny’s... too much unplanned maintenance if You ask me.

Thanks again for the GREAT video again, You make my favorite thing to watch on TH-cam.
I’d restore Ol’Red If I where You unless You find another Volvo rig You like better. 👍🏽😎
Take care & drive safe my friend,
-Kerrye
You have a point about the weights
hello if you were a swedish trucker the load is doubble the wheight when is america gona lern to send one truck instead of two for same weight???j.j.
The auto-gearbox is so new to me. Can you hold it in any gear, or downshift?
Thanks for the video Jack
My solution to being overweight with fuel was that the load got cut until I was legal. I did that for the whole 30 years that I drove.
Hey Jack. The Boulder City Bypass just opened 2 Weeks Ago. Maybe if you can do a Trucking Video once your in Vegas.
suggestion? Don't pickup heavy loads. get the light loads so you can use the bypass lane more often.
Very fine Archive
Awesome video, Jack!!!!

Another great film Jack take it easy my friend
I'll bet your loving that auto shift transmission !
Real good jack.do they let you keep a few spuds.
I was looking at that 100 foot load when you mentioned the yellow truck :)
Question!” Do you think you would Consider restoring old red and hiring a driver to work for you is this profitable ?
I parked overnight at that Pilot in Wildwood FL long ago they didn't have it blocked like that then. I wounder when and why they would block it off like that.
With the parking shortage that we have people would be jammed in that parking lot so I'll bet that's why.
We do have those people and they're just too busy under the hood of their favourite hot rod
LOL
Booneville. Hometown for me. Otterville. East of Sedailia. 65 amd 50 junction.
Hi Jack , the chili was great. thanks!
Any time!

Why do you hold the roof up when you go over bumps ? Kind regards.
That is amazing looking truck I have been everyday looking for companies to drive for it’s like I have had my CDL a year and I have been really thinking about using it I have had so many people tell me to use it and follow my dream it’s like it’s has been hard
Aren't the catscales guaranteed?
Shippers should weigh the pallets and be responsible too
Hi Jack! Love the videos!!! What made ya drive a Volvo instead of a Kent or Pete? Stay safe!! Hammer down
231!!!
That was a long trip. And the sublime chili comment was funny.
thanks jack as always great video
If you are looking for healthy snacks at a truck stop Love's truck stop has fruit cups, bananas, oranges etc.
Jack, I miss those light loads with Old Red, even though I'm sure reefer loads probably pay double or triple.
I see lots of really nice trucks while out on the road but never have my phone with me to get a picture and send it your way.
oh the pain of driving Scotts Bluff to Baltimore fifty gallon at a refuel gettin 6 miles per gallon .... 300 gal at 7.5lb per gallin is over a ton.
I think any shippers that load trucks over 36 or 38000 should be required to have a certified scale on site. And a driver should always be required to top off there tanks before arriving at any shipper..
Idaho to FLA great tri thanks Indiana!
So does the "Swede" have a Volvo or a Cummins engine ?
How many miles this trip , what was gross revenue & expenses? Just wondering, love the channel! Cheers 👍
Hey Jack, maybe you mentioned it but I don't recall, how do you like the Automatic trans. Do you miss old Red? Keep it between the lines and be safe.
You can do PC pulling a trailer?
Trouble is the politicians of the last 110 years have been TALKers not DOers. If they had to DO it then the regulations would be in favour of making it easy and simple. All they have done is make it harder for DOing folk, and easy for TALKing folk. Same here in the great land DOWN UNDER.
I must have missed the back story about Old Red and acquiring The Swede and the reefer. Would love to hear how all this came about. : )
That's not a Large Car. That's a RV that works for a living. ;)
@7.1 lbs/gal, 200 gal of fuel would be just over 1400 lbs. Add then the weight of refer fuel, and the fact that your refer compressor is forward of the king pin, they shouldn't be loading the front 4' of you trailer at all
That looked like a good dinner Jack!
Jack, have you ever met or known a driver who actually lived in their truck?
Odd question I know, but I subscribed to some TH-cam channels of people who live in their SUV/Jeeps and travel full-time. That got me to thinking of the potential nest egg a driver could save in such an arrangement.
Yes I have.
Jack is the only person who can help you with this Problem is the government I know for I can remember when fuel was 0.23 per gallon I was in Ohio and drove to Florida and Paid 1.10 per gallon that's what it is for the trucking industry today Chaplain Darrel
Why do you put your hand on the ceiling when you hit a bump? I would just normally duck as to not hit my head on the ceiling.
Are you saying that you have a new Volvo ? and where is old Red ?
I am not a trucker, but
You should of had the baked potato at Wendy's. Thanks for hauling those taters. We got to have them potatoes French fried, chips, mashed, or baked.
That would have been a good idea.
indianajacktrucker and in Nashville you got to get a GooGoo cluster.
Good Video Jack Be safe
hey jack, did you trade old red for an automatic trans??
I'm glad you didn't have any 'hot potatoes' on this trip! As far as your weight is concerned, you are over weight with full fuel tanks. Take your pick, more fuel, or more load? Just like a horse jockey you have to be weight conscious! Safe travels my friend!
Good on ya mate.
Rewrite the laws regarding maximum weight and put a third axle on the trailer so you can load some decent weights..
Love these videos. So many of these places I have been myself. Going to return to trucking shortly. Have a question though - how many cameras do you have? I have a GoPro Hero (2014) and a Sony HD video cam... would like to start making videos myself. Also, what editing software are you using? Ok, so two questions LOL
How bout solar panels on the top of boxes that aid fuel mileage for truckers that have that ability. (Brother _/ Ben Franklin says so!)
Safe trips always _/ :)
Again thanks for the potato's Jack.
Sell old Red.
She won't mind. HAHA!
