Can we talk about how useless his heads are to him, like he's at 8 HP with blight as he watches his Man-at-Arms protects the Highwayman and the vestal just healing herself for fun XD
Thats true. Ive seen fish have better strategy then those guys. But to be fair. They are kind of mindless apparitions that he gives life. And just swing. So i would say they are about as smart as Frankenstein
@@nicholaswilson5243 Sure, from a lore standpoint i totally agree with you. Their supposed to be just echoes of their former selves, as the heads act typically how they would act when they were still Heroes (Guarding and healing are the "main" skills of the Vestal and the Man-at-Arms) but in a dumb and out of place way like they've lost their intelligence. HOWEVER from my previous campaigns they are usually a true pain in the *ss, like guarding the Collector, buffing the Highwayman and then getting crit from him like it's nothing in one Fricking turn. No its not. The Collector has a 3%(easy) 4%(Medium) 5%(large) chance to spawn depending on difficulty, if you have 79% (13 rows) of full inventory. The Ancestor even warns you about it. "A full pack, often attracts unwanted attention.) - you reached the 79%.
@@citrom509 That's still pretty wildly random. And the inventory system is the other thing I actually genuinely don't like about this game so that doesn't really help my thoughts of the Collector. I've had him show up as early as the FIRST bloody Ruins mission in the game. You know, when there's really no real way to prepare for it. Honestly, you go in that early, and the whole world immediately just blows up in your face... I think anyone who's had that experience with this guy would be singing a different tune. At least for the Thing From the Stars and the Fanatic, you can anticipate them coming and prepare accordingly. The Collector by comparison just shows up whenever he darn well feels like, and once he does he never bloody leaves you alone. I'm sorry, but the only thing keeping me from naming the Collector as the worst "mini-boss" in Darkest Dungeon is the Fanatic basically being a glorified Hag 2.0.
he's in the top 5 worst tbh. Thing from the stars, fanatic, hag and then this guy and maybe the swine or prophet since they're a very specific kind of gimmick.
He’s a party check. If your party is good, you can just steamroll Collector. He’s free money since he always drops a head or a Tetrahedron if you have all 3.
There was this time I was in the Cove, almost finishing the quest when he appeared, I was worry since it was a Champion mission... Then my Helion crits for 54 and kills him in turn 2
I give you some very good advice when facing the collector: when you have won the battle and only one hit is left to kill him, turn off the torch completely to improve the loot received, this increases the chances that he will give you one of the trinkets specials of the heads, in addition to the stone that is worth a lot of gold
Then *miss* *miss* *dodge* *collect call* *he heals back to midlife* and now you have 4 wounded heroes fighting in complete darkness. Also next turn he crit a life steal and goes back to full life. Life is fun.
@@amauryleblanc7979 you actually can snuff out the torch AFTER the killing blow and before the loot is shown. You still get the extra loot, but your worst nightmare scenario is now less of a nightmare scenario because you have light still on
Thats a really bad advise, the way collector conditional spawn chance works makes this useless, he Is intended to stalk you when you already have a full inventory, and more than half of the Time you have to drop some gold/gem or supply in order to keep the trapezoid, besides head trinkests are 100% guaranteed on secret rooms if you dont have then, so no need to get lucky there
His weak stun and move resist sometimes make the fight either good and fair if your team is slow or unbelievably quick and merciless if your team is fast. All about the speed roll.
Man-at-Arms: What are you doing? Bounty Hunter: Calling an ambulance. The Collector: It won't get here in time. Bounty Hunter: Oh, don't worry. It's not for me.
Damn those back to back Vestal stuns! "Ive come to collect" lmfao! Love when their random lines work out like that. Guess im gonna have to whip DD out again now. All it takes is one clip lol!
To be fair, the Collector is only hard the first 2-3 times you encounter him really. Not first in a new game, but first entirely. After the second time you have a very clear understanding of how he works and you really dont have to worry any dmg from him generally. Just focus him down. The collector is only scary if you do a moneyrun with seekers, while your actual parties get treatment.
Narrator reminder: "Those fiends they can bleed they can be beaten!". P.S. always remember that on heart, there is no invincible foe even in a game like Darkest Dungeon is.
I had an encounter with the collector. Level 6 team, level 3 collector if i remember correctly. After i used my camping stills. I was about to kill a boss. He died on turn 2
Shambler in tutorial, shambler altar 2nd embark, collector came after defeating shambler Dis mas died to collector but collector drops dismas head. A fitting end to the warrior who crit 3/3 on shambler in tutorial
The problem with collector is you don't know if he'll be there. At least Thing from the Stars has a notice warning you that it is possible to encounter, I believe Fanatic is the same way. Depending on your team comp and party well being, Collector showing up can end your run early.
"End your run" lol The boy is a push over if you can't beat him good chance you ain't beating the dungeon either. Champion enemies are a bigger threat then him. Have damage for rank one and four or have a way to pull him

This fight is basically kill collector before Dismas kills you.
This game has so much more character than Darkest Dungeon 2 insane!
I laughed so hard at the thumbnail 😂.
I really were waiting for the bounty hunter to finish it off
Unfortunately his last roll was too low and the poison got the kill :\
Wrekd, I'm amazed he hasn't taken anyone in my current run. Yet. Lol had a few lengthy encounters this time.
As long as you can keep on him he's not too bad, especially if you hit that first turn stun

Now the 2 of them can beat the collector up together.
