Kreia is one of the most interesting characters of KOTOR 2. She went through a lot. She was a Jedi at first, then became a Sith, and then... Something else. If I recall correctly the idea of the writer was to break away from the duality of Jedi = Good, Sith = Bad. The full story I cannot type here (obviously too long), but you may want to watch a video from (No Name) called: "The Philosophy of Kreia: A Critical Examination of Star Wars". It's about 2 hours and is a very in-depth analysis.
Alternatively, or better, additionally, KOTOR 2 is still a good game IMO, if you can get passed the old graphics. Play that first and then judge for yourself.

Kreia is Revan's master. She was a Jedi master, who was trying to understand why so many Jedi fell to dark side. Why the wars never really ended. She came to the disturbing(disturbing both to her, and others) conclusion that the Jedi code was fundamentally flawed, on numerous points. And did not provide all the answers, even if you blindly adhered to it.
She eventually came to the conclusion, that the force itself thrived on conflict. As it demands balance, even as it is bound to life at the basic level - Which causes a paradox, because life is about ups and downs. This causes constant fluctuations between the light and dark, and so endless conflicts are quickly enforced to balance the scales again. A balance that can never be completely achieved, or maintained, due to its very nature. In legends, it is speculated that the Celestials(not the "Ones" that remain. But the ancient civilization of Celestials) shaped, or reshaped the very nature of the force(also mentioned in the Plagueis novel). Making it demand balance(Kreia does not seem aware of this, but thinks it is an innate trait of the force. And perhaps it is? Perhaps the Celestials just sought to smoothen the process when they chose to meld with the force).
Regardless she eventually came to study the dark side, to better understand why so many Jedi fell. And later she made it her mission to somehow fight the will of the force. Which had her delving deeper into her studies of the dark side. And with the exile, during the Mandalorian wars, she finally found a way, a way to deny the will of the force. This is different from the creatures om Myrkr, the ysalamiri seems to be doing something akin to creating a bubble where the force stands still. If the force is completely drained from a living being, they die(several lore examples of this). This "technique", if you wanna call it that, is very different. It drains the force, and then devours it like a black hole. It completely subverts its will, and counters its influence on the galaxy.
It was ironically created... Hmm... I would rather say "spawned" inside of, than "created" by a Jedi(the exile), through an unfathomable sense of wrongness and loss. When the mass shadow generator killed millions, maybe billions of innocents/animals/fighters(thousands of which were Jedi) upon the surface, and orbit of Malachor five(the broken planet you see in the video) in the blink of an eye. Even as the exile, who gave the command to activate the weapon, orbited in a ship relatively close by(it is unknown if the exile knew how devastating the effects of the weapon would be, the game leaves it up to you to decide. While the stories on the side, are mute on the subject). If she knew it or not, it is clearly stated that the aftershocks in the force, at such a close proximity - distorted her connection to the force(I say her, because in the "canon" version of later stories, she was a woman by the name of Meetra Surik. But this game allows you to choose gender, just like KOTOR 1, where the character was later turned into male for the purposes of later stories), temporarily shutting her off completely(it is also claimed by some, like Kreia, that she cut herself off on pure instinct. Soley due to extreme pain caused by the cries of the countless beings that died. The jedi in particular, as their connection to the force would be stronger, and so she'd hear them more clearly).
The use of the weapon was proposed by her close friend, and leader of their armies - Revan. It is also unknown if Revan knew what devastating effects the weapon would have. Though most of the Jedi council just chose to believe that he did. As Revan himself later confirmed, they had no facts to back this claim up(he had lost his own memories at the time) - But their keeper of records, considered it undisputeable truth all the same.
I am willing to believe that Revan had at least an idea of what would happen. He was a rather ruthless tactician at this point afterall, which is part of why he managed to turn the tides, and save the republic. But I'd question if he knew the full extent.
Regardless, Kreia made her base here on this broken planet. Where the exile was turned into a twisted vergence in the force(one that draws the force in, and allows her to use it, but also devours the force. Rendering her seemingly immune to certain technique's, like force drain, and life drain). This is the same base, as the one you can see breaking apart in the end.
PS. If you ever come across anything that seems like a profound insight into the force, chances are that Kreia authored it. She may hate the force, she may think it offers no meaning or truth about the world at large. But she understood it better than at least 99% of all SW characters, and was an expert at wielding various techniques. Foresight and telekinesis in particular.

@@GeeksofMucklebee Nono, you misunderstand. Remember how Obi-wan reacted to the destruction of Alderaan? Yoda to the death of the Jedi? It comes through force like a bomb, inflicting mental trauma on those attuned to the light(and to a lesser extent, even those attuned to the dark). She was much closer to Malachor, and there was already a war being waged there. The center point for a galactic war as of fact. The Mandalorians loss here, lost them the entire war. The echos of their death's, wounded the force(remember that the force is born from life) to the degree that she was turned into a vergence(like Anakin Skywalker, a vortex that draws the force in).
It's not that she was indifferent, on the contrary, it was that she cared. She could no longer feel the force after this, not for several years.
Meetra was one of the most orthodox, of the Jedi that actually cared about the rest of the galaxy(she stuck to the code, for the most part. Even if she seemingly came to question it at times). The Mandalorians had committed so many pointless genocidal attrocities, that even the Jedi that chose to worry more about the dark side threat they felt looming in the shadows - Did in the end not stop the Jedi that chose to fight in the war(and the republic was losing before the Jedi joined. They were losing badly).
She may have come to accept a certain level of extreme measures in a brutal war. But I strongly doubt she had any idea what the mass shadow generator would do. Revan might have guessed it. But I doubt she knew anything. She just knew it was a weapon, and that Revan had told her to use it, if it looked like the battle was going badly(As I said before, I don't think even Revan realized quite how effective it would be).
Luke chose to go into hiding. Her strength in the force, her reason to fight, most of her comrades, her standing among the Jedi, her faith in both the council and the Jedi code - Perhaps even her mentor(Revan, he mentored her to some degree aswell) - They were all lost.
PS. I question the part about Revan, because the way she talks to him after - And the respect she shows when he is mentioned... They all strongly indicate that she never thought Revan was behind what happened(perhaps misplaced faith, I don't know). Either that, or she thinks he's no longer the same person(Which is also unusually true. For more on this, I suggest reading up on Revan's story in full. I do not want to spoil it too badly).

@@Nyarlathotep_Flagg No misunderstanding....I understand what you were saying. The Star Wars writers seem to be leaning on things already in the lore. They bring elements through.....I wondered if this is where they got certain elements of Luke from for The Last Jedi. Luke's motivation may have been different, but Luke cutting himself off / denying the force and losing faith in the Jedi is a similarity....In my opinion. :) Thank you once again for all of that information!

@@GeeksofMucklebee Kreia cared a lot about the exile, she was strongly related to her quest of breaking free of the force's will. But the exile never swallowed Kreia's perspectives, at least not entirely. She could not really refute her on many points, but she still disagreed strongly with her on other ones.
Kreia taught her a lot, and she guided her to go after Revan to stop the true Sith Empire from invading. I believe Kreia hoped that her unique status, would allow her to subvert the will of the force, and stop next war from taking place. And in a sense, she was right. Her and Revan's combined efforts kept the Sith Empire from invading for another 300 years, and softened the blow when it came(the republic had suffered several wars, and was very weak when she left to find Revan again). This would seem to have kept the force from rebalancing itself in a violent manner, for a VERY long time.

Kreia's philosophy is such that everyone develops different thought and interpretations afterwards. For example I read the comment left by Nyarlathotep Flagg
and have a few disagreements. I say that because my channel is heavily focused around KoTOR 2, Kreia, and her philosophy. The best thing you can do is play the game, but if you're lacking time to do so, then I would suggest visiting my channel and watching my Kreia playlist. Perhaps that could help you form your own opinions. She's a fascinating character.

For my money, Kreia is one of the masterpieces of Star Wars writing. I strongly recommend looking for a video entitled "The Philosophy of Kreia: A Critical Examination of Star Wars". It's very dense, but it covers Kreia's philosophy well and the creator of the video pulls detailed evidence for his conclusions from throughout the Knights of the Old Republic games and from Star Wars at large. I think it really illuminates who Kreia was and what she was all about. Her philosophy is also, in my opinion, one of the more valuable lessons Star Wars has to offer. In short, the dangers of adhering to extremes. It may be interesting to you.

  • @EskChan19

Kreia is probably the deepest character in all of Star Wars Lore. Much like Revan she knows both sides of the force, light and dark, but she hates the force, because what the jedi and sith both think is something great to worship, she thinks is a tyrant. Jedi and Sith both say that the force brings balance to itself, that light and dark must be equal, and that anything that tips the scales eventually must rebound by the will of the force, but Kreia observed it, she has seen wars, she has seen the scales tipped and rebound, and everytime she sees the eternal wars and the death and destruction it brings upon the galaxy every time. Good people, who have nothing to do with the conflict die, just because the force wants it will. And she hates that. And that's why she made her plan, when she saw that the Exile subconsciously tore it's connection to the force and was blind to the force for the longest time, that she would do that, force the galaxy to tear it's connection to the force, make all the galaxy blind to it, so that the force could no longer control the billions of people in it.

The black spot is a reference to a wound in the Force.
The idea is that the Force is supposed to touch all, but there are some people who tears themselves off it, like you rip a tapissery.
Most die, but at least two survived, and those two are living, breathing beings that the Force cannot touch or influence.
For Kreia, those people have the potential to free the Galaxy from the Force and its influence.
There are ways to deflect or tune down the Force, even deafen someone from it to the point he can never use it again. But tearing yourself of it is very special.

Okay, so basically In the old republic 2 The dead planet that you see in the beginning of the video that one is called (Malachor V) it was destroyed during the Mandalorins wars by the exile, she activities a weapon called (The Mass Shadow Generator) which pulls the gravity down to the planet crushing everything even the ships that are near it's atmosphere. The other planet where you see the exile being exiled by the counsel is called (Dantooine) you can remember it's name by remembering (Tatooine). Now i don't now if you bought the game since i am saying this in 2020 so there is a possibility you might of bought it but if you didn't hope that you found this comment interesting

Kreia in Knights of the Old Republic 2 (Kotor 2)is basically a wolf in sheep's clothing. Kotor 2 basically tells the story of a female exiled Jedi character named Meetra Surik, although in the game you can make the character any gender. Meetra Surik (The Exile) fought with Revan and Malik during the Jedi/Mandalorain war. Their final battle, known as the Battle of Malachor 5, ended in the death of many Mandalorian and Jedi, creating a huge wound in the force. In order to save herself Meetra (The Exile) cut herself off from the force. Since she could no longer use the force, she was exiled from the Jedi academy. Kreia reveled to the exile, that she actually did damage to the force itself when she cut herself off from it. The exile actually possesses the ability to not only form strong attachments to force sensitive people, but to also hurt force users by causing them to share in her emotions. It is that reason why the exile is hunted by the Sith and Jedi through out the game. Meetra would later join Revan in a battle against the Sith emperor, but this can be discovered in more detail during the Revan novel.

No no, she's referring to the Exile herself. She lived and breathed the force as a jedi is trained to, and then she walked away from it completely. The Exile is the strongest jedi to ever to live, precisely because she turned away from the force completely, and Kreia proved that when she confronted the masters on Dantooine.
