I have a wip that I barely started about 5 years ago thats still waiting for me. I had one that was 10 years waiting and when I was finally ready to finish it, I did.
I’m in the middle of watching your video, and I had to stop and comment to tell you how much I love this! I keep laughing out loud when you say, “I hate this so much” and then proceed to say that you kept working on it anyway. That is so me! 😂
Thanks for keeping me company while I folded laundry today, Shannon! 😂💓 Looking forward to seeing some of those projects come to fruition, and congrats on finding that cash stash!
I have quite a few WIP projects and many small projects that need to be blocked and finished. But my special one is a project that I started 30 years ago when my son was 3-4 years old! I have moved 2 continents since then and been on a decluttering journey for a couple of years and that project is still here. I doubt I will ever finish it but it takes me to another time in life, so it is a keeper as-is 😊
I am just as bewildered by my mystery half made crochet projects…so glad I’m not the only one! Out of sight out of mind…get excited about new patterns and lose momentum 😅
Oh Shannon, I'm biting my lip trying not to laugh; this is a most relatable video! You're very brave doing this online! I really like that plarn feeling bag!
Hahahaha!!! I’m so glad I’m not the only one 😂😂😂 It was definitely a slice of humble pie!!!! I just never realize how much crap I’m carrying around! I’ll make it a priority to finish the plarn bag…..it’s so close to being finished 😃
@@ShannonTalksYarn I'm going to use some yarn my sister gifted me; it's (expensive!) Queensland Collection Dungarees, spun from recycled jeans. I think a wall hanging will be perfect for this rather unusual yarn.
Giggling to myself @ this video. Good one ! Love your honesty. Got a story. 2024 has unexpectedly been, “ the year of the ankle.” Yup, major ankle reconstruction after ripping the tendon over my ankle. Anyhow, it hurt since Christmas, surgery May, no weight on my foot for 8 weeks, a lot of hours sitting cause I could not walk. Recovering slowly, but surely. I approached this situation as a gift of time to myself of guilt free marathon knitting and crocheting. I did what you are doing in April and pulled up all of my project bags. I had 11 thing WIP, some 2 years in the wind. Anyhow, I had a plan to finish things and start knew projects. Guess what, as of late Sept, EVERYTHING was off the needles that were LONG TIME WIPs. Notions and needles re- organized! This is a first time ever that I had a “ fresh start” without nagging guilt to finish things. I did de-stash too and have more to do. Now to start another 10 things! It’s a mental disorder🤭
Hi Shannon 🤗 your bags look like my yarn room 😳 I laughed when you found the mason jar…and got excited for you when you found the $$$👏🏻👏🏻 this was fun…now it’s my turn to clean up my act! 🤣🥰🧶🤩
I was watching a TLYC video and really related to something Toni said as she was going through her bags, too…”nothing is as good as the beginning of a project and the end of a project….”; isn’t it true though? The middle can be sooo boring and SO EASY to toss aside for something newer! Guilty. Hope you’re getting some of our nice weather, friend ☺️🫶🏻🧶🧡
Thanks Joan! Yeah, I’m always trying something out, and I’d say when messing around, I have about a 40% flop rate lol. But you never know it you don’t try! And you can’t let the flops bring you down either!
You should have a piece of faux leather, and then tied to wooden beads on the end or use some kind of cord. Type thing would make it look more high-end, for the Mason messenger that is instead of the ribbon.
That is awesome that you found some yarn money! I don’t have many bags with unfinished projects anymore…it only took me a few years to finish them lol 😁. Thank you for sharing! It was nice hanging out with you! 😊
I went through my languishing WIP bags several months ago. I put all the bags into a single bin with a lid. Yes, they are still in that bin. For now I am focusing on putting all my yarn into an app my husband found for me. It's called Smart Inventory. I use it to scan and catalog all my yarn. Once I get all my yarn on the app, I plan to reorganize the yarn that is not in my nicely organized bins. The great thing about the app is that if I find a great yarn clearance in a store, I can simply scan the barcode with my app and it will tell me if I have any of that yarn already. I will also know what colors I have of that yarn and how many. In the past, I know I have purchased yarn just because it was on clearance, not remembering if I had some or how much alteady.
Oh wow, that sounds super cool! I’m going to have to check out that app! I don’t think it matters what part you’re focusing on, it sounds like you’re making great progress! ❤️
i have a suggestion with the triangles you hated how abut changing the project? i think they would look great added to jeans, sewn the either side of the leg,, from hip to the ankle or added to a tshirt along the bottom
I'm actually not too bad with project bags. My personality won't let me 😂 However I do tend to leave whatever yarn I was working with in a bag or pulled up willy nilly 😂 You definitely scored with the cash! I'm always super excited when I find cash I forgot about! 🤑
Hi Shannon! It has been great hanging out with you! You are not alone! I know my take along bags are terrible sometimes, because everyone wants me to hold onto something or whatever, but it ends up being full of everything but the kitchen sink!! Gotta love a good WIP bag! It is always great to find the hooks etc that hang out in there!! Keep crocheting yarny friend 💜💜💜
I know it’s been a while, but I just found you. I think you should frog that plain feeling yarn, but then make a book nook for it and maybe hang it up outside near where you end up in the summer to keep paper plates or plastic silverware
One "strategy I used that was effective(finished all the WIPS) was I bought an over the door shoe organizer that I could see what was in each section. I put the WIPS that were small enough to fit in that after I retired. It worked. Next I need to put all my larger WIPS in see through bags. After the pandemic they were making these for attendees at stadiums so their contents could be checked. If I can see it, I can choose it. Done.
If you didn't throw it away yet, please send me what you were going to get rid of. I make scrap projects and I could see a cool hat with the red and white triangles you made. I love to make granny squares so l can use your scraps for that too.😊 I think it is great that you found some cash for buying yarn. I have found money in bags or purses. It is always a great surprise to find money.
Just a little tip when working with that Arabella yarn. I started knitting a rather large project with it and it sheds a lot. So, you might want to wash and lay flat to dry a little bit of what you've already made just to see if it will work for a hat.
@@ShannonTalksYarn It has become one of the languishing wips. I should go get it and see if it is worth finishing. If I remember correctly, it was more than half finished.
Well remember, you’re free to say goodbye to it, if it doesn’t make you happy! While I try to finish what I start, I’m done powering through projects I don’t care for anymore! 😃
Shannon: what am I doing wrong? I can’t seem to find the center pull easily. It took me over four hours trying to get rid of the mess with the barf. I’d love to hear your opinion on this.
Are you as bad as me? Let me know how long you’ve ignored your wip bags! 👇🏻
Down from 16 wips to 5. I'll be at 2 soon!!
