Because on the one hand, in basically every way besides the SFX, the 1971 movie is superior to the 2005 one. Better acting, better Oompa Loompas, better script, better songs. But the very dark vision of the 2005 film is absolutely more faithful to Dahl’s original work. In my view, the 1971 film represents a very rare example where a source material is adapted somewhat inaccurately and the end product is better than the original version. I can see the opposing argument to that as well though.
Honestly if he lowered the price to like 10$, kids or adults got in free and there was more candy no body would've cared. I've helped out with church events that looked way worse than this that people loved going to because there was enough there to make kids happy.

Literally all they had to do was make an experience with chocolate. You could cheaply have just had one stage and a bunch of chairs. A Willy wonka actor and an Oompa Loompa and have the show teach kids about chocolate and then have them make their own chocolate bar. As for the unknown you could repurpose that into a villain that tries to sabotage or steal their chocolate creations only to be stopped at the last second. The kids chocolate creations are saved and the kids get to take it home. If you need a drink you could do instead of just regular lemonade something more creative like the rarer orange aid or why not make it berry lemonades or at the very least if your going all in on chocolate make it hot chocolate and call it idk chocolate from the chocolate river.
