@@coogz13 Fennoscandian. Or just Nordic. Finland is not a Scandinavian country. I disagree with the rest too but you have a right to your opinion, but facts are facts :p
Maybe because the Rangers haven't experienced a true rebuild. Laf and Kakko were the only top 3 overall picks the Rangers have had in nearly 60 years. That's because they are never that terrible where they would be eligible for a top pick. Their "rebuilds" have mostly consisted of trading for aging vets instead of building a team around top prospects. When Laf and Kakko came on the Rangers, the team already had a lot of star veterans. Teams that usually get first/second overall picks prioritize them, but the Rangers weren't a team of nobodies like most teams are when they get a top pick. A lot of it is bad luck as well.
As a rangers fan watching this dumpster fire spread I can only congratulate Kaapo for getting out. He deserves a team and an organization that believes in what he can bring to the table. He needs special teams opportunities and he’ll find it in Seattle. His defensive game will facilitate good penalty killing and maybe he can find some consistency on the power play. Good luck man. Sorry we failed you.
Sad to see that it took Kakko 6 years to get away from Rags. During that time, Kakko has shown small glimmers of his ability, but never reached a higher stable level. Rags are proven to be awful at player development and many other teams in the league would have done a better job with Kakko for sure. Congratulations to Kakko and Kraken who get him, unfortunately it didn't become my own team (RW). Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone

They live in a fairytale world where aging stars who don't seem to care are given every chance in the world while young guys in desperate need of icetime are left out on the curb
Will Borgen is from my hometown. I hope he does well in NY. One of our other NHLers out of here, Matt Cullen didn't have such a great time with the Rangers.
There’s a reason(s) why the New York Rangers are renowned for: 1. They fire GMs, coaches rather impulsively. As a result, they can’t develop players. 2. They know they have to overpay free agents, then tell them they make too much money, “Good bye.” The Song of Kaapo Kakko is a sad one because the Rangers expected him to become Matthew Tkachuk when his skill set was never made for physical play. Chytil was always injured and could never find that consistency. Nevermind he’s had 3 different head coaches over his career who had him play their way. Kakko was right to call out the vets who NEVER set him up but always expected him to do their bitchwork. I get it, he wasn’t the players the Rangers expected but there’s this lingering tradition of young players wanting out: Lias Andersson, V. Kravstov, Lunquvist (the other one), and Kakko. You can argue, “Well these guys were busts..” and that’s true to a degree. The other side of the coin is, the Rangers can’t draft because they were given gifts by the hockey gods. To be a Rangers fan is one of suffering.
I hope kakko breaks out and becomes the stud he was expected to be. Rangers handled his development poorly. They also treated him as the scapegoat repeatedly. Instead of trying to trade off the real problems they got rid of a young guy on a friendly contract. They are no better after this trade.
The trade is awful from the Rangers perspective. They dump a reasonably good 23 year old player (never been properly developed) for pennies on the dollar. I can see this backfiring in 3 months max.
I'm a fan of Kakko and really happy he got out of there. Really sad to see him go but glad he's getting a fresh start. Just bought a Kakko Jersey for the Rangers but looks like I'll have to grab a Kraken jersey too!
The NYR are melting down. This team is a literal dumpster fire (no soul, no values) and I'm glad for the players who get to leave the ship before it sinks again.
Kakko is the same kind of mid the Kraken are used to, but he's a lot younger than some of their other mid. He'll be a great forechecker with Wright or maybe add some more defense on Stephenson's wing
Thanks for the video! Guess we might have seen that coming given the forced healthy scratch even as Panarin was sitting out anyway. The Seattle Kraken seem to be accumulating the letter K at an alarming rate!
I am a Rangers fan and this was a MISTAKE... Kako is not living up to #2 overall.. YES.. but when you play the kid on the 3rd line he never will... he is a180 foot player most nights and is a guy who made one of the most consistent Rangers lines with Cuylle and Chytl he played better than most thought if you watched his game and he will do better in Seattle but the Rangers are falling apart and I start as much with Drury putting the players in bad situations as the players playing crap.. and they are..
Frankly im disgusted by Drury and the NYR organization. Disaster developing by the Rangers, ruined his early career and when he called out the teams/Drury's BS he was traded. Also, this wont do anything to solve the shit show that is the NYR. The vets are useless, dont care, dont score, and dont show up. Need a retool and get rid of the useless vets...Kakko was the least of our concerns..

I'm a life-long Rangers fan, since 1976. The Rangers have absolutely no patience with players. This trade sucked for them. Kakko's stats and his low $2.4 million salary make the trade idiotic. He is a solid defensive forward, great skill, a beast with puck possession, and has a ton of untapped potential. He was never used properly, and now he will be. he deserved more top-6 time to develop, and never really got it. He rarely got PP time, and yet the brass and the fans complain about his points. Idiots. Zibanejad and Miller, as talented as they are, were the ones who needed to be traded. They have been horrible defensibly, not showing any grit whatsoever, yet Kakko gets the boot. I'm so angry with the Rangers' brass that if I wasn't such a blue-blooded Rangers fan I would never watch a game again. Seattle will be happy with getting Kakko, and I wish him luck there. I want to ge get drunk and crawl into a cave.
I feel exactly the same way. Thinking of just turning the tv off the rest of the season. Rangers are going nowhere and deserve to go nowhere after this scapegoating idiocy.
Can we trade James Dolan and Chris Drury to the moon for a bag of moon pucks? Congrats to Kaapo Kakko for getting a way from a club that tries desperately to turn its prospects into busts. I hope he finds his game on a team that will treat him right, because I think he’s way underrated and he deserves better than what he’s gotten from my team.
I could honestly see the team flat out give up on him if they haven't already and just lose most games from here out. I doubt anyone on that roster wants to play for Drury
He was also a +13 on s pretty awful team. And he did those 14 points only playing 13 minutes a night in a defensive role. If Seattle tries to get offense out of him I am certain they will. The winner of this trade is not Seattle, it’s KK.
I like this trade for Seattle. If they're going to break out of the middle of the standings, they'll need to find impact players, preferably young, without the help of top-five picks. Kakko might not work out, but for the cost they're paying here, he's more than worth a shot. if he turns into even a 50-point guy in Seattle, having gotten him for a 3rd, a 6th, and Borgen will look great in retrospect. And of course there's the dream that he turns into something more than a 50-point guy. And even if it doesn't work out, I doubt they'll dearly miss the assets they gave up. Good trade.
I thought Doug Armstrong was gonna make a move for him about 2 or 3 weeks ago when blues played them in NY and all that news came out about rangers looking to move players
Either NY didn’t develop this kid the way they should’ve or he was drafted much higher than he should’ve been. The Rangers are a mess this year, but you’d think they’d better utilize a player like Kakko to improve their fortunes. Instead they deal him in an underwhelming trade to a team on nobody’s radar.
Yeah. When Seattle’s defense is working, it works super well, but as soon as Dunn is out of the lineup… They need to either get much more consistent scoring or much deeper defense.
This is so stupid of a trade, first off look at other teams and what they do with top picks in the draft, they give them tons of ice time. Kaapo Kakko was buried at the bottom of the lineup. If Kakko is on the 1st line or 2nd line and power play for seattle, he will break out. The ranger need to make their mind up they have one foot in one foot out. They trade truoba and kakko and nothing in return
Yeah Kappo Kakko is worth a 2nd rounder for sure. Hard nosed defensive-minded forward who scores big goals. Sure he doesn't score often, but he is on the ice for very few goals against and never got any PP time.

Leafs and first round exits
Rangers and wasting generational goalies
Peanut Butter and chocolate. But, yeah @darthvader3742, valid point.
The Sabres and not making the playoffs.
Interested to see Stephenson and Burky playing with Kakko.
Shane Wright, Marty Beniers, Stephenson, Montour, Burakovsky, now KK, I see potential for this team
@@Mechanicsville804Dunn
I wish him the best n, more ice time...
This implosion is great to see
Rangers have wasted so many players.
See Neal Pionk.
Such a fun last name.
pavel buchnevich
j.t. miller
Anthony Duclair
Ryan McDonough. Brady skjei. Matts zuccarello. And that’s on top of buchnevich and JT Miller. All within the last 7-8 years. This team is a joke 😭
Nooooo! No more will Borgen! Who is going to be Matty’s roommate? No xmas at the gourdes? Maaaaah my slice of life content has taken a blow.
I mean, while I love this trade for the Kraken, Borgen was one of about 3 players that actually hits.
Chris Drury is a bad GM. Real bad.
Why....got rid of Trouba and 8 mil cap hit and Kakko is nothing special.
In Buffalo we will trade you Kevin Adams for Chris Drury. He was a good player when he was here.
@@brianforberg232because people want to hate the rangers lol. You can argue the Buch cap dump sucked but that's the only move I truly wasn't a fan of as of now.
Chuck Fletcher is available, maybe Jim Benning or John Chayka
@@roffew.1065 Buffalo brought back Lindy Ruff to coach, could Darcy Regier be far behind to come back as the GM?
i think the only player safe in new york is shesterkin
Is he safe if he's the last one in NY?
Zibanejad is pretty safe. Full no move, and I don't think the team is willing to eat half of 8.5m for 5 and a half years.
Shh, not so loud.
I would say that they are all safe for now. No more New York Rangers will be traded for the next ten days.
@@kurtwpg maybe the flames take him for hubie.
The amount of dedication you have to put out all these videos for every bit of news around the league! You keep me updated more than the actual NHL app 😭 Thanks so much!
Well, now the Kraken have a player going to the 4 Nations Faceoff leaving the Capitals as the only team not represented…
Yeah, but 4 nations is just stupid so...who cares
:D
The #2 overall pick for a bag of used pucks, I'm not surprised......
They traded KAKKO????
What is going on in New York??
They live in a fairytale world where aging stars who don't seem to care are given every chance in the world while young guys in desperate need of icetime are left out on the curb
The Rangers only have players there that hit the ice for a pay check that's bout it...😮😮😮😮
Whatever happens to Kakko in Seattle, it seems smart at this point to trade for him and at least see what happens since he's so young.
Rangers collapse is developing excellently
What a weird trade, rangers got absolute nothing for him.
Here is me hoping Kakko light the house on FIRE with the kraken.
Good for Kakko. He will be a 60point player next season.
The Rangers might as well merge with the Sabres at this point. They both develop and treat young talent exactly the same way.
I’ve wanted him in Chicago since the start. Great pick up
I hope kakko breaks out and becomes the stud he was expected to be. Rangers handled his development poorly. They also treated him as the scapegoat repeatedly. Instead of trying to trade off the real problems they got rid of a young guy on a friendly contract. They are no better after this trade.
This trade will go down as one of the worst trades in Ranger history. It's unfathomable. It's truly a very hard day to be a fan of this team.
Agree, as I wrote above, the worst Seattle NYC trade in sports since Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps.
That jersey is so good, one of the best out there. I was hoping Boston would get him for Freddy but oh well
I hope Kaapo Kakko play to center and Tolvanen is his line. That could be sensational duo in Kraken.
i truly believe kakko will BREAK OUT for seattle over the next 2 years
Oh yeah. He is still a kid and will take off like a rocket 🚀
The trade is awful from the Rangers perspective. They dump a reasonably good 23 year old player (never been properly developed) for pennies on the dollar. I can see this backfiring in 3 months max.
And Steve Valiquette thought he was better than Jack Hughes
I'm a fan of Kakko and really happy he got out of there. Really sad to see him go but glad he's getting a fresh start. Just bought a Kakko Jersey for the Rangers but looks like I'll have to grab a Kraken jersey too!
The NYR are melting down. This team is a literal dumpster fire (no soul, no values) and I'm glad for the players who get to leave the ship before it sinks again.
Carolina panthers level GM work.
Trade Kakko for Guenzel 🚫
Trade Kakko for basically nothing ✅
like this trade for seattle
Shannon announce Drury fired please
this was bad deal for Rangers 🙄
Kakko is the same kind of mid the Kraken are used to, but he's a lot younger than some of their other mid. He'll be a great forechecker with Wright or maybe add some more defense on Stephenson's wing
There was no way I saw him thriving in New York I think a change of scenery is honestly best for both sides.
Thanks for the video! Guess we might have seen that coming given the forced healthy scratch even as Panarin was sitting out anyway. The Seattle Kraken seem to be accumulating the letter K at an alarming rate!
Love this trade for the Kraken. I don't see how this makes the Rangers better unless Borgen improves a bunch over how he was performing in Seattle.
This is a dangerous game the Rangers are playing man, theyre in danger of losing more in the locker room with these tactics.
Wasn't Kakko the one whining when he got scratched. He's a slacker.
Probably sat Kakko out because the trade was imminent
@@simpleharmonicmotion16 no way of knowing I suppose. But the way this reads is he spoke out, and was correct, and was removed for it. He wasn't even on my top 10 list of issues with this team.
@@jakelefkowitz4570 yeah, surely there was a better deal waiting somewhere unless you're desperate to unload the guy for whatever asap
@@romaliop not to mention the trades Drury reportedly denied (when going for getzel wouldn't include Kakko and then last year's deadline wouldn't give up Kakko for Vatrano and Henrique). Those might've just been rumors, idk, but if true...
As a kraken fan, I’m happy
Fire Laviolette. Fire Drury.
Kakko obviously wasn't being used properly to find his real game... best of luck to him going forward
Borgen is scoring at a scorching 1 goal every 27-game pace. Amazingly talented
As a NYR rooter, i think it was a mistake. You don't give up on a talented 23 year old for this return. Drury is petty & disliked by the players.
Good trade.
Canucks should’ve traded Hoglander for kaapo
Kappo Kakko on the Kraken. Nice ring to it haha.
Krusty Komedy Klassic
I thought Doug Armstrong was gonna make a move for him about 2 or 3 weeks ago when blues played them in NY and all that news came out about rangers looking to move players
Thanks for the video
I am a kraken fan. I think it is a good trade, seattle needs some goal scoring on a more consistent basis.
Terrible trade. Drury has essentially given up on the season.
good for Kakko. This is the best thing that could've happened to him. He deserved better and the organization really took advantage of him.
The Rangers failed Kakko, unfortunate to see it didn’t work out, but I wish him the best of luck in Seattle
wondering why my team didn't beat that offer!
What an absolute disgrace this team is, especially for what they are doing to Sam Rosen in his last season.
say no more. Like an idiot playin a hockey manager.
Wow, I am going to miss Sam, the only voice of the Rangers I've ever known.
Maybe NY will trade Sam Rosen too for a new low....
Listening to him schpit out Shesterkin and Zibanijed is revolting.
Rangers are unwatchable.
I am a NJ fan and Sam is an absolute legend.
Then again, Sam has seen his fair share of Ranger dumpster fires in his career.
You know Kakko is gonna go light it up for the Kraken now 🤣 the Rangers are a dumpster fire!
I like the trade, but a little nervous for Seattle since they really don’t have any defensive depth.
Maybe they trade for Trouba 😁
Yeah. When Seattle’s defense is working, it works super well, but as soon as Dunn is out of the lineup… They need to either get much more consistent scoring or much deeper defense.
thats a steal!
Great Video, as usual, Shannon
Will Borgen is basically a lineup replacement for Trouba.
And they couldn’t even get a 2nd??? Woooow
Yeah Kappo Kakko is worth a 2nd rounder for sure. Hard nosed defensive-minded forward who scores big goals. Sure he doesn't score often, but he is on the ice for very few goals against and never got any PP time.
Aaaaand I’m getting a Kakko sweater for Christmas
One of the only rangers I'd be happy to see Seattle take.
Great pickup for Seattle. Kakko was not the issue in NY. Looking at how Zibanejad is playing Kakko should of been taking some of this time.
This felt similarly to when we traded Buchnevich for me. I hope Kakko excels in Seattle, dude deserves the best. The New York Rangers, one hell of a team to cheer for right now
not sure swapping players is gonna fix what's wrong in new york. sometimes the rubber band snaps when you're wound too tight
Fire everyone who isnt the goalie coach.
