You should be adjusting the height of cut on the wheel, then lower the 3 point down slowly until the deck doesn't go down anymore. You can then put the 3 point stop at that location, so you know how far to put it down. The reason you want to do this vs. just pushing it down all the way, is it'll keep your i-match from dragging on the ground.

Also, from what I can tell from the video, you need to do some adjusting on your gauge wheels. In a nutshell, you should set your height as I mentioned above, then be on a flat surface (like concrete/asphalt), lower your deck down, then adjust your gauge wheels to a clearance from the pavement of thickness of your palm (at least that's what I use to measure). This will help prevent most scalping.

Thanks for the video. I have the 60D with mulch kit. I mow 3 acres of Kentucky blue grass, around trees, open areas and plantings……..it’s cut is outstanding. I compare it to my GX255, and my traded in X590, and it easily cuts equal to those…..all with mulch kits. Also, this deck is far more rugged and devours sticks, twigs, etc….vs the others. Zero regrets here….its a beast that puts down a real quality cut.

OMG! Thank you. I have searched for so long for someone to actually show a video of how to engage the mower. TY TY TY

It took some adjustments on mine to get the engagement easy on and off most of it was the lift bar in the front. As far as the height adjustments you set your mower dial then lower the lever all the way but it will only let the deck go down to height you set on the dial, nit trying to nit pick ya or anything but my grandpa woulda said your mowing backwards, like he told me several times, don't wanna discharge on what you haven't mowed yet cause then your mowing the same grass over and over. Love my 1025R it's a mighty little beast.

You need to do what I did, go to P&K and get a small JD ZTR for the tight areas and use the tractor for the open areas only. Everyone questioned me at first why I bought the Z345R 2 blade mower deck when my JD tractor has a 3 blade mower deck. Now they can see my thinking when I mow my 2 mostly open acres. I cut around my trees, swing set, septic tank lids, garden and fence lines with the little ZTR first leaving minimal string trimming. I know what you mean about the grass and wind because I'm just over here just west of Collinsville in pasture areas.

I couldn't keep from laughing when you run into the ROPS, but I have done the same thing and it hurts but I only did it once LOL

I've had a 2025 for seven+ years now and it's still my goto machine. I have a 5 series also. One tip would be to adjust your top bar appropriately for three-point attachments. Each attachment is different. You can adjust the top bar from the seat...you'll figure it out. There's several videos about the mid-mount mower attach/detach. For whatever reason, I have no problems with mine. On occasion, I have to get off the tractor and tug here or there, but if you have a flat concrete surface, put the mower on a rubber mat or something so it doesn't move and attach/detach several times and adjust those two nuts on the front catch until everything works how you want it to. You'll have no problems after that. Tip 2: Keep the ROPS up and the seat belt on. The reason for that is self-evident. :) 3-Keep a can of wd-40 lithium grease on the tractor and spray everything that moves (such as the mower adjustment teeth) and especially anything that doesn't move smoothly. 👍

Also always start the pto at idle speed then rev up to operating speed

The hydraulic lift for the mower deck is such a plus. Not cheap and to me worth it. I had an earlier Deere with the linkage as part of the rear 3pt linkage and ended up damaging it regularly. The other thing I did was defeat the reverse shutoff if I don’t hold the yellow toggle down.

I tried cutting the lawn with the loader still attached once. But my yard isn’t an easy flat acreage like yours. Mine has lots of 35 degree hills.
Eventually got tired of attaching ad detaching the mower deck, loader and backhoe all the time. So now the loader and backhoe stays on the 1025r permanently. Bought a new 2024 1025r with nothing on it. Swapped out the mower deck brackets to the new tractor and all it does is mow the lawn and haul dirt away in a trailer from the backhoe.

I bought a 1025 without mower, and kept my 60 in. ZTR. Much better cut results from what I see on you tube videos. Downside is I have to buy gas for the zt, and I have another engine to maintain. I mow my 6 plus acrers in about 3 hrs. But I love my JD and tolerate the Gravely!

Hey I live on the same street as you guys just on the west side of 88! I’m getting a yanmar tractor soon and can’t wait. Definitely want to stop by your flower farm this spring!

Looking at getting one of those. For mowing I'm going to take the loader off and anything on the 3 point. Looks like a total pain.

You are missing the cotter pins that go in the hole right above those silver flip brackets. There supposed to be a cotter pin on each side to keep the lever from flipping up while using the mower. Also, when you unpin the bucket to remove it there is a hole there to clip the pin. That will keep it from dangling so you don't catch it on something and break the wire. Oh, and trim the trees up a little and the ROPs won't be a problem. LOL.

I had to redo the setup completely the guys that john dear they don't put a mechanic on that they put a young guy that's paid very little per hour because John Deere doesn't pay that much to adjust that and he had done a terrible job so you'll have to get the paper giving you all the instructions for to setup and redo it yourself because more than likely they've goofed up big time After I did it right and read all the instructions and followed them the thing works flawlessly it's really nice

It probably doesn't help getting the mower on and off when you are not on a nice level surface.

Paint that side of the deck with rubberized undercoating.

NO, NEITHER IS WORTH THE MONEY!
DO NOT BUY JD PARTS MADE IN CHINA!!!!! After a year parts are falling off due to not tightened right at the factory. JD uses Kubota tranny now. Height limiter on the 60" belly mower will wear out due to cheap extruded aluminum. My 2005 JD 2210 was built MUCH better and lasted 18 years. This one is a little over a year old and falling apart. JD does NOT care and will not warranty anything past 1 year.

You need to go faster on the lunge forward....like at least twice as fast
