  • This is an in depth guild for how to properly grease the axles on your Traxxas trx4. This is how I’ve always done my axles, I understand others grease their axles differently however this is what I have found works best for me. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the detailed video. Quick question. I have a new TRX4 Bronco and have about 2 hours run time on it and noticed the front wheels have a bit of play. It looks like play in the wheel bearing. Do you have play on yours too? Rears feel much tighter. I don't see how they can be bad since it's brand new but it does seem a bit loose so wanted to check with you. Thanks.

    Hey Ethan, I just did this on my trx4 bronco and now my truck will not go into reverse very easily. It takes like 10 pushes of the throttle and then it jumps backyards about a foot. Too much grease maybe?

    • @ExtremeRC4x4
      @ExtremeRC4x4  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Suarez definitely could be too much. I like to make sure that I can turn the axles by hand first to ensure there won’t be too much stress on the motor. Especially with the portal axles on these trucks it’s possible that your truck is facing some stress from too much grease. Thanks for watching!

    greati video! i have a question. I’ve been greasing my diffs for quite some time now and feel pretty confident about doing it. but I have a problem and haven’t been able to find a solution.
    for the rear, one wheel spins faster than the other. I’ve checked everything and its all working perfectly. I’ve even opened the seals on the bearings and lubricated them, still nothing. one wheel seems to have more resistance than the other. tried using less grease on that side, still nothing. If you have any recommendations please let me know! thanks

    So I tore my trx4 tactical down cause the front right wheel got wet and washed the grease out, so I cleaned and re-greased it but when I tried to put the driveshaft back into the axle it wouldn’t go far enough, the shorter drive shaft will slide right it but no matter how much I wiggle, turn, or push the right won’t go in. Any suggestions on that??

    • @ExtremeRC4x4
      @ExtremeRC4x4  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brady Chayka is it the axle shafts in the axle that go between the differential and then portals or the drive shaft between the front axle and the transmission? Is it possible that the hole where the driveshaft needs to go is full of grease?

    • @bradychayka1970
      @bradychayka1970 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think it is, but if it is do you know a way to clean it out, I can shine a light down it and I don’t see any grease though

    • @ExtremeRC4x4
      @ExtremeRC4x4  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brady Chayka have you made sure all your bearings are correctly on the axle shaft? If they aren’t it might be stopping you from getting it all the way in. Maybe traxxas could provide you a manual also so you could compare your truck to a parts diagram?

    • @bradychayka1970
      @bradychayka1970 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ethan Boening no it’s when I go to put the shaft where you said to wiggle it a little then it pops in and will turn when you hit the throttle, I can get it in enough to make it turn but not to put the 2 screws to connect the entire hub

    • @ExtremeRC4x4
      @ExtremeRC4x4  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brady Chayka and you’re sure you have the correct axle shaft for this size since they are different lengths on this axle? Hard for me to judge what the issue is without seeing it. Have you thought about trying to give traxxas a call? They have a fantastic service department I would recommend them to anyone.

    White Lithium grease in spray can $8 will last a decade of RC use, just be careful the power of the spray doesn't blow your parts away, lol.

      Typically any marine grease will work well or wheel bearing grease. I use Lucas oil red and tacky

      Robert Carrizal it’s not too difficult, just take your time and be cautious. Don’t put too much grease or you may have to take it back apart. I wouldn’t be afraid of doing it just be cautious. Thanks for watching!

    You didn”t have to remove the axle from the car. Thats a waste of time. It is easier to keep the axle in the car and just remove the portals and diff cover.

    You're doing it all wrong. First it would have helped if you had cleaned it.
    I mean with air and dry brush only.
    An IFIXIT tool kit can cover this and it's not very expensive.
    It helps if you have a square piece of foam to easily stick the screws into to keep track of where they go. You didn't need to grease the external tire axels.
