  • In this video, I will be showing you how to continue opening your Xbox One Controller. In my first video ( • How To Open/Disassembl... ) we removed the outer shell. In this second video, we will be removing the 2 circuit boards, left and right sticks, left and right bumpers, left and right triggers, as well as the D-Pad, guide button housing, and the individual buttons. This will help you disassemble your Xbox One controller to fix issues such as stick drift or to replace buttons, joysticks, or customize your Xbox One controller.
    If you haven't already, watch the first part of opening our controller series, below:

    You got me further than the other 5 or so tutorials I watched, and actually helped me out alot. I was able to completely dissamble all moving parts without a a solder kit/iron or anything like that just a couple torxs drivers and a tiny flathead for complete disassembly. But u helped bro thanks.

    Thank you sir, almost bought a new controller over the B-Button misfiring.
    Twas a simple need to readjust the button and rubber cover over the plastic button's rod.
    Still holding this Battlefield One Edition controller baby strong after 5+ years!
    Cheers!

    The newer Xbox one controller with 3.5mm port is a little different. The bumper buttons don't have the little white bumps on them to make it easy to pop off.

    Thanks for the video - really useful. We had a sticking RB, so I used this video to disassemble the controller to take a look. We have a 6 month old Xbox One. I noticed however that in my controller the number buttons were connected to the middle top section of the controller (the bit with the big Xbox lit button in the middle). So to remove the bumpers you need to lever off the middle part which releases both of the bumpers. Perhaps they've updated the controller slightly?

    The right shoulder button on my Xbox One broke, but it's a different model from yours, mine has the shoulders both attached to the face plate that goes over the Xbox Button, as a result trying to glue it back down is...challenging at best. Thanks for showing me how to dismantle the thing though.

      What's up Nat. Thanks for stopping by. Are you referring to the assembly that holds the right stick on? It has an arm that moves around, etc...
      Just doing some basic research, it looks like those are somehow pinned in to the board. I'm not sure if they are soldered on through the other side or what...never really looked in to those. I have a problem with D pad. Something as if one button does not connect every time, I push it and not responding then again and it jumps two tabs (xbox menu). Before opening gamepad I would like your opinion, would it only need some redusting and oiling or some replacement ?

    • @XboxDIY
      @XboxDIY  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would avoid oiling anything - you have to be careful with lubricants. You can open up jsut the outside case of the Xbox One controller and access the Dpad so it should be pretty darn easy (and fun).

  • @ShaneFlett
    @ShaneFlett 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Damn it, its the white part underneath the d pad for me. i got the default white controller and couldn't press the up or left on my d-pad. even disassembled i got nothing. i clicked it and then i went full 'don't care', i just scrapped the white part off and found metal underneath the white sheet. it seemed like i made decision i cant go back on, and i didnt have the smaller screwdriver for the green board inside.before that i put it in water to scrape off any soda residue or anything and it seems like i just pressed up and left on the d-pad to hell and back. it just reached the end of its life time.. damn. well i got other controllers but jus decided to try my hand at this thing

    I was looking for these 2 small white plastic pieces in your teardown but didnt see them. I have the master cheif controller and it has a few different style parts but these fell off with the buttons and i have no idea where they go.

      Could you show me a picture or give me some more details? There are so many controllers out now it's insane! I'm going to start buying broken ones and doing teardowns of the different models to help everyone out.

      Xbox DIY i figured it out but thought it was weird. They go in the space under the bumper switches but its because my controller is a different model.

    I have a problem that nobody has been able to help me with. I have an xbox one controller that has a broken internal trigger. Not the trigger that is easily removable but the trigger inside of that that does not get removed in this video and is held in by the metal swivel screw. It does not look like there is any way to loosen that swiveling screw to replace the cracked plastic piece that it is holding in place. If you are not clear exactly which part I am talking about check out 12:30 in the video. It is the piece with the magnet attack to it and the rumble motor. I need to replace that and cannot remove it. If ANYONE knows ANYTHING I can do to replace it please let me know. I have two controllers that have the same problem so it would save me a lot of money. Thanks!

    So, the white tab sticking out from the side of my left analog stick is missing the piece that holds it in place, so it doesn't sit up against the black button under it properly (slightly above it). I hear something rattling around further inside of it, so I need to take it apart further to find that piece. I hope this helps someone find their problem!

      Turns out I was 100% correct! I got it out, and noticed immediately that the smallest piece on it had broken off, most likely the cause of it falling out int he first place. I am debating whether or not I should super glue this back on.

    My god.. a pry for watches (pop-off backs) will work so well for all of these things... it fits in your palm with a short blade. DON’T look at your current fossil watch and think the tool would work for that. The tool for your watch is a jaxa type wrench.

    I'm going to put this out there: If you use a screw diver that is .5mm too small, you will strip the screws. BUT! After I stripped two of my screws, they fit perfectly with a 5/64 hex key. So, if you do strip your screws, try a hex key, it may save you a huge headache.

    Its not dangerous chemicals really in lead free solder its basically just tin. And for lead solder you just need good air flow like a fan or a open window. If people go lead free they wont need to worry about it cause it be safe. I use nothing but lead free solder if need or use lead solder i turn a fan on its all simple stuff if not inhaling lead solder

      Good to know. I've always just used a fan as well and it's worked fine for me.

    I managed to replace the rubber button piece without having to solder off the top motherboard. It was tight but its possible for those who want to try.

    Both of the pegs holding in rb snapped. Just some super glue? Btw this is a wired controller

    • @K.L3225
      @K.L3225 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rb was wedged in there. It finally came out without disassembly. It's actually one big peg that was attached on both top and bottom
