    I’m so glad I stumbled across this video! We are building on 5 acres of land that was a soy bean farm. I have zero gardening knowledge and this video gave me some confidence. Can’t wait to order from your site for this spring when I can do my first garden!

    I'm droolin' over that garden seeder (there goes that wish list again...) but I am SO inspired today! I have a large patch where my potatoes were planted, and was scratchin' my behind trying to think of what to plant there - PROCUT SUNFLOWERS! Let's see if those Joker seeds will germinate better by direct seeding them!

    • @XaViEr3520
      @XaViEr3520 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a real time saver! If you have a market garden or large garden it’s worth it. If not then you’re better off hand seeding because the seeder is a workhorse and it won’t be used to its potential if you have a small garden. But if have the money and like nice toys(tools) then you should definitely buy it!

    The sunflowers, even though they don’t have pollen,DO attract pollinators and honeybees. I grow the black oil sunflowers, mammoth sunflowers and my honeybees absolutely love the seed heads!

    I was thinking with the growth in sprouting that we will get more demand for seeds, especially Sunflower seeds. Have you done a video on harvesting sunflower seeds? Which variety would be best if we wanted to raise a few sunflowers for seeds to sprout on trays? Thanks.

    • @gardeningwithhoss
      @gardeningwithhoss  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never harvested the seeds. These varieties are hybrids, so harvesting the seeds wouldn't work.

I've,had it about 1 week and had,it sitting in the direct sun, watered it everyday and it has gradually been looking like it's firing, should I go ahead and put it in the ground? Help!

    I see you have a makita drill... is that your favorite brand or do you even care ?

    • @gardeningwithhoss
      @gardeningwithhoss  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the Makita impact driver over the competition. It's just lighter, compact and tough. But for other tools, like a skillsaw or sawzaw, I prefer a Milwaulkee. And we have some Dewalt stuff as well. We've found that one company doesn't do everything great, so you've got to find what each one does better than the other.

    Why do you plant so many sunflowers in your garden

    • @XaViEr3520
      @XaViEr3520 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They could sell the flowers to flower shops, they can sell the flowers in farmers markets, etc. supplemental income. Always hustling making use of the land! Don’t want to sound mean but some youtubers don’t depend on just what they show, (in this instance it does)they also have side business to make extra income.

      Mainly for attracting pollinators and beneficial insects to reduce our disease pressure, but these varieties are also great for selling cut flowers. We don't sell ours, but we harvest quite a few to brighten up the house!
