I used to have that pointed out to me in my old MMA school too.
I ended up blackbelting in Kali and JKD, but they taught some Muay Thai and liked mixing it into the curriculum.
In their words: "A GOOD knee or elbow can cut like a knife".
And they're right. When we did Kali sparring or "multi man scenarios" (Where they deliberately have one person outnumbered 3 to 1 and just tell you to "Survive"), I lost count of the number of times I accidentally cut someone good with a BLUNT plastic training knife. Turns out, when you swing something really fast, the sheer tug on the skin has a good chance alone of ripping a hole open.

It’s actually mean “Thunder roar” here, this Fah in his name might written and read the same as word “sky” in Thai but in this case when you add word like Khaam-Raam(roar) behind it, it will refer to “Thunder” instead

Leroy is a not so obvious homage to the younger audiences, but the older gamers will recognize it as a nod the character Leroy Green from the movie "The Last Dragon".

Well, whomever does the Fandom site conducts a lot of research. Apparently, he's inspired by Yip Man, or a Wing Chun Kung Fu master. They made a movie about him called Ip Man (2010). Search for: Ip Man 3 (2016) - Three Minute Fight Scene (7/10) | Movieclips

"Fahkumram" (ฟ้าคำราม) means "Roaring sky" in Thai. "kum" is pronounces as "come" the rest you pronouced it correctly. His boxing trunks has his name in Thai on it which is pretty accurate in Muaythai sport. Just some info for you. 👍 Love your channel from a Thai subscriber.

The difference is that when they made Bruce they weren't really that familiar with "muay thai". I think they kinda decided to put Bruce as more of a kick boxer and they wanted a more authentic muay thai fighter from Thailand (following the theme for each country, different fighting style that they've been going)

I know it takes like decades to master, but I am just sharing
Uandres Brito the principles don’t change, only the specific moves does, so that it can be used for practical fighting. I asked my wing chun instructor about the rapid fire thing and he said no. I can see why, any sort of power shot would mess it up right away
I train in Vietnam btw. Here we train wing chun but still allow techniques from outside, as long it works in sparring and you don’t get hurt because of it
Also , the guard. I asked the instructor too. He said you can have whatever guard you want (even if its a boxing guard with both hands to your face) as long as it works
To be honest , it becomes a style regardless of the moves you use
@@hoangnguyen6569 That's interesting. Staying true to your roots means nothing if you can't win a fight, so it makes sense. Thankfully in a video game those uneffective techniques can be shown being used in an effective way thanks to the supernatural nature of the characters.

EDIT: seeing this is getting some attraction from Baki fans I highly reccomend you guys go watch Kengan Ashura, it's also a great fighting anime with over the top fighting like the Baki anime with a bad ass opening theme. Side note- it does have 3D animation but I can assure you it's not as bad as you may think (not Berserk levels of bad anyway). So go give it a watch!

Fahkumram might just be the scariest fighting game character ever and I fell in love with him right away. Sure there are monsters, demons and slashers out there but he feels terrifying in a very real way. That face looks like it has seen hell.

This is for those that don't know of Fahkumram's story. He was once held as a hero to Thialand. He was a legendary Muay Thai fighter and was unparalled in his field. He was marked as being future champion till he was struck by lightning and was near death's door at the age of 12. But after a miraculous recovery his body changed to what he is today. He became the champion at 18. After that he was married and they had a daughter.
But 6 years later when he was 24. He was approached by a group of unknown men and offered a massive sum to throw his next bout, he was subsequently threatened with physical harm if he failed to comply. With no intention of succumbing to such corruption, He knocked out his opponent with a single blow shortly after the match began. Thus as he won. The gang tried to murder him. But he was to strong for them and kill several of them. Then he was arrested by the police and soldiers..who turns out were also apart of the match fixing gang..so they were dirty cops and soldiers when he tried to plea self-defense. Thus he was held captive by the military while his family was taken hostage.
Thus Fahkumram had no choice but to comply and fight in secret underground fights with tiger and other wild animals. As time went on with no escape..he became more desperate and disillusioned. Thus also losing himself in extreme acts of violence and rage. Then 4 years later when he was 28. The military saw the Mishima Zaibatsu as a threat and thus send Fahkumram on this mission to win the King of Iron Fist Tournament. With the promise of freeing his family if he won. Thus..without no hesitation he entered the tournament. Hoping to win and save his family.
That's the gist of what his backstory is. Sorry if this was long or a waste of time. But it's just to let you all know why he appeared via military. If you want to learn more check tekken wiki. It helps.

I'm extremely poor. I've never bought a fighting game season pass until well after all the characters had been released. However, I bought this one as soon as I saw Leroy in action. I regret nothing.
Also, goddamn this game is good, and not just for the game. Harada, and these announcements... just so cool.

we need to support tekken, pirating shit and thinking you are entitled to steal others work is self defeating. Maybe not now but later when stuff you like gets canceled.
if we want to see tekken 8 etc we need to support the devs, games like tekken have real longevity and give you enjoyment the more you put into them.
can’t stand pirate bay assholes, they think they can just do whatever, go do that since you aren’t going to support good stuff anyways but evangelizing being a thief, and worse degrading the future of niche genres being made by passionate devs make me puke.
we aren’t talkings about gaming filth like EA Activision Take 2 and Ubisoft, we are talking about tekken, a game series that i’ve been playing since the mid 90’s. I support SF 5 and other games for this reason even at launch, knowing full well fighting games etc drop in price after 2-4 months

As you get older in life like your handle suggests you see things you really like go away for good over time, and it really sucks. How come i cannot get that stuff anymore etc. i booted up my ps3 to play some games, topspin4 the last truly great tennis game, something we won’t see again, i thought about it while enjoying a beer, of the same type as one that was discontinued.
we need to support the stuff we enjoy, if they make it good and we are into it, pay for it.

No arcade mode, so no individual non-cannon endings? That is disappointing.
@@alwaysxnever There are sort of story endings, but they are generally lame (1 match against a rival and then over). Some are interesting (Xiaoyu, Claudio, Hwoarang) while some are a complete farce (King, Paul). TBH I miss the atmosphere of Tekken 4

Fahkumram actually fights like a proper practicioner of Muay Thai. It's almost scary.

It should be bigger... It all went down for me in the next animation when they were fighting and he was almost same height as Marduk and Marduk i think is pretty tall too but he looker taller all the way leading into animation when fight starts...
While it would be something to have a fighter that is 3 meters tall, it would also look really silly in actual gameplay with normal sized characters, so i am happy they didn't do that.
Marduk is the tallest character with 2,13 iirc and i really hope they don't go over that height ever, especially not as far as that one angle made Fahkumram look at first.

Here's something about Fahkumram that I found it would be interesting. You can see that he has a red Garuda tattoo on his chest and red Garuda is also a national emblem of Thailand and the Thai government properties. So, I think his story might have something connected with the action of the government in Tekken's verse. I think he might be a prisoner that have joined (or been forced to join) some physical enhancement program that has been conducted by the government and put to the test in this event.

Leroy's fighting style is Wing Chun the fighting style used by the real IP Man.
