Awesome sighting of giant sea bass. This would be great to include in the Spotting Giant Sea Bass community science project being conducted at UC Santa Barbara.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. :) Yeah, we decided to not bring our long blade fins on this trip to save some space. Her and I both were using the Cressi Matrix mask which is a pretty good mask for freediving. I recently upgraded to the Matrix Dark which I like more. We didn’t go too deep in this particular video. What are some your favorite low volume freediving masks? Always up for good gear recommendations. Also, good eye! Those are definitely snorkels in this video. ;)
Freediving is not about the gear. You don't need the most expensive blades or mask to enjoy the underwater world or to dive deep. 100% they are freediving
Well most free diver use snorkel ..... what else would you do at the surface for breathing ???? And The mask doesnt matter. They are not trying to break world records so you can free dive with every type of mask you will just have different volumes and water resistance...
This is exactly where I snorkeled a few months ago… so beautiful
Very nice!

They are always near the island .. usually hanging near dock
What diving fins do you recommend?
Thinking about doing some snorkeling when I stay on the island, would you say this is one of the best spots? I’ll probably be staying at the Avalon
Yes this is for sure THE BEST spot!
@@earthtotravis also is spearfishing allowed here or strictly only diving/snorkeling
@@henry12371 as far as I know you cannot spear fish at the dive park. Have to dive other areas of the island
Definitely no spearfishing
How do you guys breath hold that long??
It’s in half speed so that’s how haha
Great footage guys! How thick were your wetsuits? 3/2 mm?
I was in a 2mm and she was in a 4/3mm
@@earthtotravis Good deal, thx. I dived Two Harbors and Parsons Landing six years ago. I wanna go back.
If you scuba dive everyone wears 7-7.5 mm or dry suits. Surface temp in summer is around 63 degrees and anywhere from 50-57 at depth
'freediving'.... with snorkels and scuba diving masks 😂
