    Thanks, my biggest concern is that my cat is also very sensitive/scared, so I'm glad to hear yours is too and it was fine. Looks like the place I'm considering moving to is a 20 hr flight though 😵‍💫

    I use a backpack (the Pecute one is the best) and one trick i have recently thought of, is to make a small "pouch" with the cat blanket so i can insert the padding and pee pad inside and it doesn't move around during the trip. Also, when you use a backpack, once you get into the plane or train and have to place the carrier under the seat, you need to flip it on ther side, and it's difficult to place the cushion + blanket underneath the cat because you can't open the carrier an dtake out the cat inside the plabe (you technically could do it discreetly, but there is not enough space for that and it might be tricky. Use velcro on your "cushoon pad" so it is secured to the side of the carrier that will be on the bottom during most of the flight/trip. It will ensure a more comfortable trip for your cat.
    In the carry-on back, i always have an extra pee pad and dry blanket just in case, wet wipes, and plastic bags just in case of an accident, FeliWay sprayed in the carrier BEFORE PASSING SECURITY, you will need to place the Feliway spray bottle in your checked baggage or it will be seized. Don't feed your cat 12-24 hours before leaving. I know this sounds cruel, but my Norwegian did a number 2 at the airport BEFORE a 8 hour flight once. I tried to wash it in the sirport bathroom (hahaha) and ecen to cut off some of his hair which was full of shit with scissors that a nice shop woman lent me ... a disaster. Never again. Imagine me and my neighbors having to smell that for a whole flight. So yes, a cat can go a day without food. Have a little food that you can give them after you land. Give them a little water throughout the flight with a collapsible bowl. You're not supposed to take them outside of the carrier inside the airport but i go in the washroom and have him walk a little on the leash.

      Hi! I'm sooo stressed, I'm traveling with my cat from France to the US and back We have 2 connections, about 2hrs each!! My cat is a super scared girl, and she's spoiled rotten. I don't know how this will play out, I'm losing sleep over it. I'll be trying Feliway AND giving her a light pill to help her be less nervous. I'm not sure I understood the thing about trick you came up with by making a pouch for the pee..Would you please explain again? But number 2 is the worst. Imagine if it happens while we're served our meal! And how will I have a heart to not feed my cat when we wake up, the morning of the flight. The rituals won't happen and the routine will be broken, and the stress will start right then.

      @@linmi2246 How did it go? Please let me know.

    • @linmi2246
      @linmi2246 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@user-yv8cn3ot4g Well, it wasn't easy, to say the least. My baby kitty was very scared throughout the trip. I didn't give her any pill, because I had tested 1/2 dose of that pill few days prior as suggested by the vet to see the effect on her, as it varies from cat to cat, so that we see how she'll react to it. It was super strong, it knocked her out, she didn't stop crying to tell me something's wrong, she couldn't stand straight on her legs, couldn't walk straight, she got agitated, aggressive (it has a hallucinogenic effect too) and then slept for 6hrs straight. I hated it and vowed not to give her any anxiety pill ever again. So D-day she was drug free. On the plane, throughout the flights and the connections, she hunkered down in her blanket, hiding away in the carrier, and completely shut herself off from whats's going on around her. Of course I was constantly checking on her, petting her, talking to her, etc. She did not pee, did not want to drink and didn't care for her favorite treat. The worst part is the airport security check, we had to go through 2 of them. They require that the pet is taken out of the carrier, you hold your pet in your arms while walking through checkpoint.What's important to know is that they didn't accept that I keep her harness on her, it had to removed. To me, it was the safe way to prevent her from jumping away. But without a harness it's super risky, a cat could freak out and free herself from your arms in panic. But after we made it without catastrophe through the 1st security check, I was told that you can request a room for a private screening, the security officers are obligated to do so if you ask. So at the 2nd connection and security check, I asked for private screening room, we went in, they closed the door, no risk of my cat going anywhere, I took her in my arms, they checked her, while someone else took the carrier to run it through the scanner outside and then came back with it. We were cleared, I put her back in the carrier and we went on. Next week, we're going back to Europe, I'm dreading it already. Hope that helps you and anyone who reads it.

    In my experience sedatives do not always work so be aware that even if you give 2 pills of Valium (which i did in 2017, prescribed by a vet), it might not work at all. Every cat responds differently. With my cat, meds did nothing, FeliWay and catnip worked.

    Great video with some good tips. I want to take my cat to Los Angeles eventually as I'm planning a move but my boy is diabetic and needs to eat and drink regularly. The vet says he's ok to travel but the logistics are a bit complicated because of his diabetes. He needs injections every 12 hours and he eats 4 times a day - meaning he needs the toilet regularly, so I'm a bit stuck as I don't want him to be stressed, hungry and smelling out the cabin. Having done some research it looks like we may have to charter a private plane which is bonkers!

      I got a cat carrier with expandable sides and all sides are meshed from Amazon. My cat flew a few times within the US and that carrier was very useful because under the airplane seat, I expanded the sides as much as I could so my cat could stretch her legs. Size is smaller than most, and works for lots of airline measurements.

    Air Canada allows only small carriers! How did you get them to accept your carrier

    • @ThisisYulia
      @ThisisYulia  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I checked the carrier requirements and mine was smaller than the allowed size. it was almost 3 years ago, maybe they changed it

    Hi 👋 can I ask you the experience of getting tickets? Because I see it’s one of the main issue to travel with pets. Thank you ☺️

      hello! you buy your own ticket first, then you call the airline and buy ticket for your pet via the phone. hope this helps!

    This is so helpful, I wonder how does the return flight work, do you need to do the same paperwork and wait like a month for health check, etc.. before you can bring your cat back to home country.

    Very informative, thanks a lot. So I'm from Canada also and planning to bring my cat permanently to the Philippines. Do I still have to continue paying the registration fee every year to humane society?

    • @ThisisYulia
      @ThisisYulia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Annelida, I don’t think you need to continue paying since you’re leaving the country. I would double-check with humane society tho 🐱

    Hi Yulia, I am travelling with my cat (In cabin) from NYC - Dubai. I have completed all the paper work required. I am just nervous about the security and the long flight time with my cat. Any tips to help cats relax. I do have gabapentin. But anything else? Since cats are very feisty

    • @ThisisYulia

      Your cat will be calm once you give it the medicine. No extra calming tips, it will be all fine 🙌🏼 I wish you and your cat all the best with your trip!

    My cat is not vaccinated and she is also intact. Do you think I could get away with just giving her the rabies shots? Will I have to give her every vaccination under the sun and also get her spayed before I travel/move country with her?

    • @ThisisYulia
      @ThisisYulia  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you’ll need all the vaccines and you’ll need to get her spayed 🐈‍⬛

      its not as bad as it sounds even though its a long video, its all about experience and these things get easier
      Also worth it if you want it badly enough, just have to pace yourself and do steps at a time
