One thing that really impresses me is that you figured out how the eyelids would work, since Valve themselves said (In the developers commentary level of Portal 2) that while they made sure that Wheatley's design was realistic in a "you could actually see this being built" sense, they had to cheat a bit with the eyelids. And yet you managed to make it work. Good job!
@@lettuceman483 Well Stephen Merchant has done other stuff, including a podcast with ricky gervais and carl pilkington. Also, Deep Learning Algorithms are continually improved upon, so in the near future they may be able to do with far less than they need right now

I'm looking through the CAD and I can't seem to find the eye mechanisms, I'm making a Wheatley for myself, using this incredible design. I've made some decent progress, but I'm stuck on this particular piece. Are they in the CAD or are they somewhere else? If not that's cool too, I can improvise.
Hey great project and thanks for the build video! One thing though, please be very careful with those 18650s! They should always be "married" into a single cell, charged alike, and discharged simultaneously. You should never mix new and old 18650s, as they will have uneven levels of wear, which can lead to one battery taking the brunt of the work and failing. Always good to get a BMS if you can, and always use new cells :). They're cheap enough that it's not worth the risk of fire/explosion. Battery safety is no joke with the higher current cells.

@@peng6220 The animatronic puppet, yes. I'm really excited to see Rio's Wheatley finished though; theirs is more streamlined as far as the internal design goes and I absolutely love that theirs has a management rail to ride on!

I like how Wheatley shutting down from battery failure actually looks like him sadly dropping dread from getting crushed by GLaDOS.
Imagine if when it's finished, they hook it up to an A.I. to generate Wheatly dialogue and a speech synthesizer such as the ones on 15.ai
