I use a deadman and snatch block so I NEVER pull the object in line with my vehicle. BTW if you can't do that, open the hood because flying parts aren't kind to auto glass. I found out the hard way when I was younger.
You should ALWAYS have a heavy blanket over the middle of the cable incase it snaps. The blanket will cause the line to drop instead if whip around, potentially injuring someone. Safety first!
May be interesting to test the blanket technique... the blanket may act as a parachute to deflect snap force:/ ? I know a guy in New York a corn bale being winched snapped and cable punctured his skull... :/
Take a sawzall type saw with an 8 to 10' saw blade and cut all of the roots in a circle around the stump. Will pull with half the effort or danger. Don't dig just stick the saw into the ground and cut by feel.
@@ljprep6250 Because the cable runs back to the jeep it's a double line pull and total force at the snatch block is 12k. If the pulley was being used to simply change the angle of the pull then you're right it would be 6k lbs.
Good job, nice video. Again a bunch of “what ifers” “arm chair professionals” with no videos of their own telling us all the right way to do things. Lets enjoy the video for what it is. If the cable had broken, Im sure we would have a different kind of video, but it didnt, so lay off and enjoy it for what it is.

I'd like to make a suggestion Charles. When doing this throw a heavy blanket or something across those cables close to the end. Chains or cables that snap will kill you with that amount of tension.
If you ever have to do it again don’t trim the tree first. The weight of the tree aids in pulling it down. This is a small one but really helps with big ones

thats a fucking myth fucktard
lol next time you eat a broken cable you will wish you had something over that cable when it broke
Like a moving blanket, or horse blanket?

@@reponut12345 no it isn't you fucking idiot.
This is really helpful in showing what a 6000lb winch is actually capable of. Thanks!

Thanks for the useful tip.
I would have used the pulled tree as a 90 degree point for pulling the stump on the left first, the pull it.
6,000 lb winch with 12,000 lbs of force using the snatch block.
No, it would require two pulleys to double the leverage. Single is still just 6000.

@@ljprep6250 I think it is 12K but I am learning.
@@ljprep6250 Technically the 12,000lbs is going to the Jeep, but since the Jeep is anchored it's transferring to 12,000 lb to the stump.

You should of put the snatch block at the bottom of the tree stump that’s where you get most of your pulling power from your winch
if you did that you would lose the leverage from it being a high pull.
with the snatch block it has a 6 ton pull
Nope. Two pulleys would give you double the leverage, but not one.
@@ljprep6250 nah, you are wrong
so howd it end up, so far looks like a half pulled stump
using the rim/tire set up and seat the strap in notch
wet the ground around stump with water......stump comes up easier....
Water greases the roots. So much easier!
Getting me one of those!

I don't think electric winches are the way to go for this job. They don't have the duty cycle for all that loading.
3000lb winch 2x with snatch block? Or 6000lb winch 2x snatch block for 12000lbs?
That's what I'm wondering
Did you soak the ground around the roots first?
Who really won? The Jeep or the tree??

Mr. I pull trres like weeds over here yeah
dude......
Ifin that ther kable snapped i rekkon a feller wood bee abill to werk under a car wiffowt havin to lay on his bak
how much was that winch set up
Next time put something over the cable.
you only have a 6k winch on that heavy of a jeep??
that wasnt clear to you or what?

Your strap is to high lower it a few inches
He was correct about placement. The higher its connected, the greater the leverage to get the base and roots from the ground
