  • In this non planned episode we start a mid life refresh on our NW Pajero starting with new 18 inch King Tremor wheels and 285/65 r18 (33 inch) tyres!! It certainly gives it some punch looks wise, but will it be any better to drive?
    We run you through considerations related to upgrading your wheel and tyre combo as well as a few things to look out for. One item we will review over the next few months is the impact on gearing, whether this combo do in fact affect the torque converter fully locking up... but lets see how she goes on the first big trip!
    While we would all love a new 'rig' - now is certainly not the time to buy with extreme stock shortages and crazy high pricing on anything available second hand... so we are going to do a few mods to the old girl to give it a new lease on life!
    Future planned mods may or may not in include a custom DIY modular rear fitout, snorkel, intake clean and tune and potentially a few more exterior accessories.
    Noting the 4th generation Pajero is the end of the line, it is one of the most under rated 4x4's out there being extremely reliable, comfortable enough to day to day commutes, long distance touring and reasonably hard off-road work.
    Initial impressions on the Nitto Ridge Grapplers? Awesome!! I can't wait to test them off-road (or overlanding as its also referred) and see how the travel noise wise as they get run in!!
    Thanks for watching - get out there, stay safe and have fun!

    I've just upgraded to exact same tyre size. Keen to see how you solved the spare tyre carrier issue.

    Great review.I would like to ask, I have a Pajero NS 3.2 with original tyre dimension 265 65 17 or 265 60 18. I put some 285 60 18 MT almost 3,3 percent diameter +. Can this bring me some problems in the future,or it's not a big mod but some say it will afect the torque converter. I would apricient your opinion. Thank you very much

    Please do an update with the spare wheel cover. I just went up 2 inches and it definitely doesn't fit. I cant find any info on how to make it work

    Hey nice vid! I just went from 265/65/18 to 265/70/17 with a p25 offset on my 15 GLS but like you said the spare wont fit in the wheel holder so would be interested in a holder mod for sure.

      Yes I think we will need to come up with a solution. Seems a fair few of us have the same dilemma 👍

      Thanks Lucas. It's amazing how different it looks now. Looking through a few options for the spare wheel. Ideally I'd like to keep the cover on so stay stuned 👍

    So - the lift. I take it just a 2",
    Did you have to move the casters forward?

    What's the Go with the centre bore? The paj is tiny - are those rims sitting only on the studs?

    Enjoyed your video and your Paj looks nice. With the 2nd hand market on 4wds currently what it is, also thinking of holding off, and upgrading the Paj for a couple more years of service. Would like to see a vid of all the Paj mods you have. Cheers mate.

      I have a few ideas. Its hard as we know it will eventually be replaced. I do actually have a snorkel kit to go on so that will be soon. In my old NJ I made up a aluminium shelf system for the rear and want to do a more modular version so its a bit more flexible so might do a DIY on that as they work incredibly well.
      I'm more wanting to get out and explore some more tracks and do a few trips. I think we are nearly there lockdown wise.

    Nice vid mate, I have been struggling to find a set of aftermarket wheels that fit properly, and was looking at the same rim as you fitted, were they 18X8 20p and approx how much clearance you had on the brake caliper, cheers

    I'm glad there is a video showing these off on a Pajero as i'm looking at one of these or the KMC Wheels. What is the lift required for this?

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We run a 2 inch King/Bilstein lift. This is a pretty standard combo. I personally wouldn't go any less with the wheel/tyre combo as you will likely run into clearance issues. You also won't get the full benefit of it.

      @@WorkLivePlay Oh ok cool Im looking into getting Dobinsons suspension. I was going 2 inch lift minmum.

    Good review. Suggest skip the fancy music and drone shots though - like when you show the tyres. Simple shots and commentary is better.

    Has the Pajero had a lift kit fitted..

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gordon - apologies for the late reply. Yes it runs a 2 inch lift consisting of Kings springs and Bilstein shocks. Its been in for over 4 years so has probably settled a tad. The general consensus is Lovells springs and Bilstein shocks which I initially wanted to do but could only get Kings at the time. Bilstein shocks are perfect in the Gen4 however.

    What diameter of your brake disc on front?

  • @malekitani9614

    Hey mate. Thanks for your video, really useful. Just a curious question, on the model 2013, do wheel size 285/70/17 fit without lifting? And from your point of view will do well on track?

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very late reply... I just saw thing responding to something else. I believe they will but a lift would work better. Without a bull bar they would scrub however. Our 32s worked very well for years.

    im thinking of getting a Pajero are they cheep and reliable? and capable
    cheers buddy

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably one of the best value and under rated 4wd's around. Best to get a late NT onwards as they run the much better Aisin auto as used by Toyota etc. They are extremely reliable and have very little common issues. It's a real Shane Mistubishi never updated the NX model as we are looking to probably update in the next year or so and I am struggling to find anything that ticks all the boxes other than probably a Y62 Patrol.

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Off-road the super select system works extremely well. You just need to get used to lifting a wheel here and there. Once you trust the active 4wd system it will walk you through some pretty serious tracks.

    Hi mate did you lift the car up?

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we have a 2 inch lift consisting of King Heavy duty springs (for bar/winch front and towing rear) and Bilstein shocks.

  • @jamiefrangos9233

    Does it use more fuel?

    • @WorkLivePlay

      Yes it does naturally. Not as bad as I thought. We average around 10l/100 highway and 13 around town - with my wife driving in that instance and she does tend to have a lead foot.

      No problem - a bit of feedback on the Nitto's to make it worthwhile is that they have been fantastic. I would certainly recommend, Maxxis Razr AT811 are also becoming popular with a few electing to run over Falken Wildpeak AT3
