Chuck Norris used to live in Tustin. I met him on multiple occasions. Shopping at Ralphs, dinner at The Red Onion in Tustin and a few other places. Yes, every bit of a gentleman.
I just wanted to say thank you for your channel. Your channel is a peaceful and a happy place for me. I love the shave, and self cut my hair. I finally have my own bathroom, and which I named my Barber Den. Your channel was such an inspiration to me that I decided to go to barber school, and I'm now a part-time barber. Most of my clientele come to me because I wanted a few barbers in my area that provide traditional hot shaves. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your content.
the wonderfull thing about your shave den is that now my wife can see that my den is only 5 % of a normal den , so she is not anymore angry when I buy more stuff , thanks
If ever my wife comments on the amount of stuff I have, in my defence, I will refer her to this video. Should be enough to see me through to the 'afterlife'. Cheers again Ken
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Colten Braxton Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I noticed your blade bank. I discovered that if you use the container from Altoid mints, it works perfectly!! It's all metal and the lid seals shuts nicely! It can hold probably 200 blades! When it is full, you can recycle the entire contents or just dispose in garbage without worrying about sharp edges cutting into the garbage bag. No additional cost after the mints are finished!
I use a soup can, I forget the type of can opener that my wife has but it removes the rim making it seat back after the can is washed out. I tape it back together with aluminum duct tape and pop a hole in it like a piggy bank using a butcher knife. It holds a good 2000 blades with plenty of wiggle room. Tape it closed and toss it. I keep it in my cabinet on my sink marked with bright yellow tape out of sight. For free it is very secure and will leave a rather small footprint for years of shaving. Cheers👍
I only stopped by prior to subscribing some years ago only to see a review I think on a particular aftershave...but after realizing what an interesting, decent fellow you are, I subbed and have been a happy fan ever since. I've always been curious about the rest of your shave den, too - and just found this. Incredible collection! Now my visits to Ken's Legendary Shave Den promise to be all the more pleasant and relaxing. Thanks, Ken - and take good care...
That was a very nicely paced and narrated tour of your den and relaxing to watch that is indeed quite a collection your dad would be very proud I'm sure.
A very impressive collection but what astounded me most was the photo of your Father! He is a dead ringer for a Canadian character actor whose name escapes me at the moment. I am doing a search on guest star roles of various series that I recall this actor played in and will post his name and photo in an update. Until then, thanks for the tour. I enjoyed the show.
Your wife is very thoughtful, what a wonderful lady. Great tour Ken, absolutely dig your setup. Enjoy it all in good health and thank you for sharing it with us.
Hi Ken, I am in to wet shaving from DE razor and i have Parker 91r. And from almost last 3 days watched your many videos. Quite impressed from everything in each frame of your videos..
Reason you have so many subscribers is simple. You are a nice bloke and a gentleman. I can even excuse your football team! Keep making videos, they are really enjoyable! Thank you.
Love the bottle of Polo Sport! Takes me back to my old high school days! Such a refreshing, nostalgic trip!! Neat room!! By the way you're right about the corvette museum. It's in Bowling Green KY. I'm 90 minutes away from it. The floor caved in a few years ago and a car fell into Mammoth cave, which is below the building, lol. Subscribed.
I don’t think I’ve ever watched a James Bond movie. But your enthusiasm for the series has me determined to start. I really enjoyed seeing all of your vintage items. And “I’m not a hoarder” is destined to be a classic Kensurfs catch phrase.
Ahh, the polo sport aftershave and Polo green with gold top! Two of my favourites growing up in 90s. Remember they both smelled great, wonder if they still smell the same. May have to search around for them sometime
Hey Ken I stumbled across your channel a few weeks ago and crazily enough I got hooked, lol. My dad was a wet shaver when I was kid in the 70’s he eventually moved to disposables but he always had the old school after shaves kicking around. I just dropped a couple hundred bucks on a shave kit from West Coast shaving, I picked up a bunch of shave soaps and after shave I saw here. Gonna do my first wet shave next week when everything arrives. Your love for your Dad shines through when you mention him and that’s so cool. In a weird way I think this journey I’m about to embark on with the wet shave hobby will bring back many fond memories of my Dad , God rest his soul. Cool channel!!!! Thanks for creating such quality content!!!!
Great collection in your man cave Ken ! Keep up the good work :) Hello to the family and the caring Mrs who gets you all the shaving knick knacks as she knows you enjoy this a lot ;)
Great Walkthrough of the Den Ken! I probably should not show this one to the wife. It will give her a sense of what she is in for. Lol she is actually pretty supportive of what I am starting. I look forward to meeting you at Big Shave! Take care my friend.
I’m Russian St.Petersburg, but I like your style and enjoy videos.Your wife got very good taste in cosmetics like as you do:Nioxin and Ahava are very good products. You are into British things and I’m more into Italian.Great Channel!
You need to get some parfums de marly on that cologne shelf. Percival in warm weather, Carlise in the Autumn and Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb extreme for the winter.
Nice video Ken. Never realised you were a Brit until now. I couldn't believe my eyes when you started showing your aftershaves because some of my favourites are Eternity, Obsession, D&G The One and I also have Fine Italian Citrus. I started as a teenager with Brut, Old Spice and Hai Karate, also Censored. I like the fact that you still have lots of British collectibles too. I'm happy you're American now but it's even better to know you were born a Brit. Nice video!
Nice tour. After watching your channel and several others I decided to take the plunge. I promised myself however that I would not go bat crap crazy. I would only own one razor, 1 soap, one type of blade, 1 brush, and one aftershave. After a couple months I owned 8 vintage Gillette razors, 8 brushes, and a possible lifetime supply of 6 types of blades. (To be fair, at age 72 a 100 blades could be a lifetime supply). Having no sense of smell, I only needed one aftershave, Aqua Velva, and one soap, Arko. Even with these limitations who knows. With a checkbook and a couple credit cards anything is possible.
New subscriber here. I enjoyed this video very much. You remind me of my grandfather so much. He loved his razors and his aftershave/cologne collection.
Ken I always enjoy your videos and I love that you don't push products but man do I want to have a shaved in like that it's like I walked in to a shaving Museum I love it keep it up keep making videos don't get discouraged haters are going to hate but us wet Shavers are here to support you
Hi Ken- Very nice shave den tour; thank you! What a great setup all-around! Not to put my two cents in, but I might think about adding some silica gel packets to the drawers with those wonderful vintage razors in them. The humidity in the bathroom can wreak havoc with the metal on the razors. I found out the hard way with my Gillette Fatboy. Anyway, I hope you have a great weekend ahead and all the best!
Ken, Thanks for the great tour. I’m just getting started with wet shaving and a black beauty thanks to you. Starting to collect. Ha Ha. I’ve gone from electric shaving to multi blade cartridge to single and double edge shavers. I now prefer the latter and very much enjoy the shave. I’m getting a late start at 66 yrs old but better late than never. Thanks again.
What a happy coincidence... I am also a New Castle United fan. Like your channel and enjoy your reviews and personal opinions on the different products. Best of luck and keep up the great videos.
Beautiful Shave Den, Ken! Sounds like you led quite an interesting life, always enjoy hearing a backstory. Shave Den Ken?? I like the sound of that! #shavedenken
Hey Ken. Sweet setup! Just getting into wet shaving (at 54 yeas old!) and I find your vids educational as well as entertaining. Thanks a bunch for your time spent making these and keep up the fabulous work!
Thanks for the shave den tour, Ken. I now feel much better about my S.S.A.D. (Shaving Stuff Acquisition Disorder). I also now have the urge to visit several shave sites!
Hi Ken. Thanks for the tour. If you ever make it to Ohio we have the National Barber Museum in the small Columbus suburb of Canal Winchester. Among other things, they have over 2,000 different shave mugs on display.
Loved the tour, and as great as it is to see all of the shave products it was a lot of fun seeing all of the memorabilia! "Golden Gun" was the first Bond film that I saw in a theater as well. I haven't much in the way of memorabilia from the films but do have a couple of sweet foreign posters (originals) for "Thunderball" and "You Only Live Twice". For a few years - starting as a pre-teen - I collected autographs, long before signing conventions. A lot of those I received by writing to the people themselves are from people no longer with us: Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, Fred Astaire, Sir Alec Guinness, Jerry Lewis, Robert Mitchum, George Burns, Roddy McDowall, Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and so on. Lovely mementos!
It was a far different way of doing things back then - and you had that added thrill of picking up a piece of mail addressed to you and seeing it had come from someone famous lol.
Moonraker came out in Summer 1979, the first James Bond Movie I saw when I was a little kid in Corpus Christi, Texas. I still remember that day, great movie
Excellent Ken! 👍👍 Great shave den video. I don't have room in the bathroom for my stuff, had to requisition a bedroom for soap and scents. Love the Bond theme bath and autographed memorabilia. Nicely done. Enjoy!
Thank you Ken for that most interesting look at your collection. The old Gillette razors are still the best shavers. I appreciate your efforts, you have opened my eyes to the DE world....and changed my morning “shave chore” to an anticipated comforting ritual. Its been great! Thanks.
It is so great to see how you honor your dad! Maybe a Father's Day shave is in store this year - you can tell us some good stories about this man! I hope and pray I can be as good a father to my boys! Best regards Ken!
Love the channel Ken. Shave den looks awesome and I’m super jealous of your collection. I just started wet shaving 6 months ago and I thoroughly enjoy it. I love watching your videos of product reviews. They definitely help me find great shaving products. Hopefully one day I will have a collection as nice as yours!
