    Thank you so much for this extremely helpful video. My boyfriend has been growing out his beard and has been asking me to braid it for him. As a lady, I have years experience with braiding my or other people's hair, but this was my first time ever braiding a beard. It was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. I got discouraged and quit after one too many yanks on his chin. After watching this, I feel like I have a better understanding of what I need to do and I'm eager to try again. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

    Yea, I am trying to grow my beard wider for a thicker braid, since I already have my braid around 22cm in length, seems kind of too thin, so I am trying to grow a bit below chin, to the neck side, but a bit, and to the sides, still waiting and looking at some points when I feel it's time to check how wide and long is my side beard grown whether or not it will soon join the braid or not.

  • @berner
    @berner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I find using painter's tape to wrap around the highest point of the three braid sections helps to keep them at bay without the risk of their base spreading out too wide and forcing your end braid to look like it starts lower than the jaw line, before cutting each tape piece off after it's braided. But where my braid starts is just my personal preference. I like them starting as high up as I can possibly get.

      You can find all of my wares at etsy.com/shop/knightsmith links are also in the description below as well as in the cards.
      Once I had everything braided and finished, all I had in my beard was my balm and the bead. The hole in the bead should be snug enough to hold everything together all on its own. No rubber bands necessary!

    • @Knightsmith
      @Knightsmith  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to get your beard to grow faster is to stay out of dry heat, keep the skin moisturized, eat well and workout. If you're already doing all of that, you just have to wait. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!!

    • @Knightsmith

    • @Knightsmith
      @Knightsmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's rather subjective as to how much of a braid you want. You could get a few smaller braids in when you get around 4-6 inches. Keep in mind that mine was about 9 inches when I shot this video and braiding will shorten your beard.

    what prevents the bead from slipping off

    • @Knightsmith
      @Knightsmith  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      debi mac two things actually. It's both the friction between the hair and wood as well as the pressure the hair exerts against the wood as it tries to return to it's natural shape and orientation. That's why it's important to use the string to compress the hair as much as possible while you put the bead in.

    So now any hair on your face is considered a beard?

    • @Knightsmith
      @Knightsmith  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      A beard is historically any facial hair. Saying "now" means you're way older than Moses seeing as even before his time, beards were any facial hair and you can find evidence in this interpretation in the Bible, the Odyssey, the Iliad and numerous other works from around the world and from various time periods describing when a boy is entering manhood.
      Now, on this channel, I do my best to improve this world and to teach everyone how to better themselves. Seeing as how you have to try and denigrate my facial hair and my degree of facial hair and don't mention the actual content of this video, you have told me two things.
      1 - That you're a simple troll and for some reason need to try and tear me down based upon my looks where you aren't brave enough to post any public videos nor have your face as an avatar.
      2 - Since you only mention the degree of my facial hair, you can't find any obvious flaws with my teaching method, my level of skill or my understanding of the material. In short, thank you! You've indirectly told me that my content is correct and valuable.
      I'm sure that you're a wee bit hot under the collar at this point, so let me direct you to the rest of my manliness videos so that you may grow as a man. It's not about being male, macho or having a beard. It's about bettering yourself and the world around you, basically being a gentleman.
      The definition of a beard from en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/beard
      noun
      1A growth of hair on the chin and lower cheeks of a man's face.

    • @Knightsmith
      @Knightsmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are bad for any hair if you leave them in too long. If you noticed, I but the my beard balm in first. Doing this lubricates the hair and keeps the rubber from ripping the hair.

    Lol learn the difference between twisting and braiding

    • @Knightsmith
      @Knightsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean, as I'm sure your keen eye was able to see, there were 3 groups of hair that were separately twisted together to form 3 separate cords which were braided together.

    • @nevaehschattenfluegel9652
      @nevaehschattenfluegel9652 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im sorry to say but that are no ropes. You get a rope (braid) by using two strands of hair, quisting them seperatedly both in the same direction and then twisting them together in the opposite direction as before. Only then does it makes sense to put in an elastic, as there is actually something the elastic can hold together and in place. By mereling twisting one strand the elastic is totally unnecessary.
      My hair is longer than 1m and yes as you said beard styling has to be done differently, but the technique in itself does not change.
      Search for Rope Braid and see for yourself.
