  • 10 gallon aquarium stand - super easy aquarium stand build!
    In this video I build a 10 gallon aquarium stand that can be built by almost anybody with basic tools. This stand is super strong and able to hold well more than a 10-gallon aquarium so you can rest easy knowing that you've built yourself a solid piece of aquarium equipment!

    2x4 #1: [4x20.5] [1x7.75]
    2x4 #2: [2x28] [3x7.75]
    2x4 #3: [2x28] [2x14.5]
    also you can make the 28s a few inches longer without trouble

    Great video i had to move my fish room into another part of my house. Had no extra stands to start moving and setting tanks on. Built a few of these burned them with a torch for a nice look and they came out looking awesome. Thanks for the video.

    I know beggars can't be choosers, but I would love like a double-decker version of this (I have a standard 10 gallon & 15 gallon flex). I want to design some kind of terraced stand with the flex below & in front of the 10 gallon....
    Btw, my 33 gallon sits proudly on one of your builds, love your method! My first ever DIY stand! Cheers!

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, yea you could deffinately do that and since they're smaller the design would be easy, basicly like this th-cam.com/video/Jb3SxwtA9SQ/w-d-xo.html
      But you just increase the bottom 2 shelf sizes and add a smaller verticle support on the front sides.

    Would you recommend this same method of relying on the strength of the screws for a 20 gallon long? Or do what you did with the 40 gallon with the 2x4 supporting the weight?

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When it comes to relying on the screws shear strength (which is 150 lb per screw) I usually recommend up to 30 gallons, after that I prefer having vertical 2x4 support holding up the tank.

      As long as your floors are level it would be ok, if you have large dogs or something that may bump into it you can always add longer boards to the base that stick out farther in the front and back for added stability

    • @TrafishAquatics

      With this design a 5 gallon is slightly too large to fit on the shelf but you can probably modify the dimensions to still fit a 10 gallon on top and fit a 5 gallon on the shelf.

    I have a metal aquarium stand for 10g with support only on the sdes. No bridge to support the center of the base of the aquarium. Must I put a plywood first that will catch the whole base? The stand you built on the video also supports only the perimeter, but it looks to catch a larger area than the one iam about to use. Tia!

    • @TrafishAquatics
      @TrafishAquatics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Framed aquariums can be supported by only the sides based on physics but it freaks most people out, as long as the corners are supported your good to go but if it worries you, feel free to add support
