pacific rim 1 really set the standard for cgi and special effects for mech animation. always loved how guillermo handled the mechs and pilot pit, it felt so real and believable

Sometimes, things don't need a sequel, because if it's done wrong it's there forever and can't be fixed, Pacific Rim could've been a single, but memorable unforgettable masterpiece
When it first came out, people usually considered Pacific rim as a “child movie”. Another fantasy monster vs robot. But i’m so glad that ppl slowly appreciate it more and more, years after. The work and the art of Guillermo are beautiful and stunning. Sound effects and soundtrack off the chart. And it entertains ppl in every ages. It should be deserved more appreciation.
It IS a childish fantasy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not tons of fun. Let’s face it, we all dreamt of giant robots punching giant monsters since Godzilla and Gundam came out. It’s a primal urge, and it was glorious 😂 I don’t care if the second movie was objectively terrible, it still gave me more giant robots beating the absolute shit out of giant monsters and I adored every second of it. Oscar-worthy? Absolutely not. Fun? Fuck yes!

I love this movie a lot. A mix of Transformers, Iron Man, and Godzilla. I don’t think this movie is better than the best of those, but probably was the fourth best to me in 2013. Now it’s probably sixth, as long as we don’t include any other movies Iron Man was in besides his own.

the worst part is that uprising had some really good ideas but was ruined by the execution. mako having an adoptive brother? an evil jaeger? hybrid drones? mega kaiju formed by fusing several kaiju? newt getting possessed because of his kaiju brain drifting? all the ingredients of a good movie was there, and they fucked it up. honestly would have preferred a prequel instead about the first jaegers being built and the height of the jaeger program.

I love how each Jeager is basically its own character, they're so distinct in both design and fighting style. As soon as they appear on screen, you instantly recognize them. Romeo Blue, Striker Eureka, Cherno Alpha, Gypsy Danger, and Crimson Typhoon.
Even "Coyote Tango" which you only see for a few seconds in Mako's flashback was memorable and distinct. You can tell it was an older model with a more conventional military approach to combat just from the fact that it was the only Jaeger with giant shoulder-mounted artillery cannons. The only other Jaegers we see with ranged weapons is Striker Eureka with their chest missiles, and Gypsy Danger with the plasma cannon, which are all fired from close to mid-range
Pacific Rim: a movie made by a mecha nerd who grew up watching godzilla, gundam, ultraman, transformers and for a love letter to mecha and kaiju genre movies. Pacific Uprising: a movie made by hollywood executives who grew up reading financial book.

I love this movie. The way they did the Jaegers, especially Gypsy, was so amazing. I loved the sound that Gypsy made when she was going into battle. Did anyone realize that it was the sound that a battleship sounds when general quarters are called. It's that deep klaxon sound you hear when she surfaces on the battle against Knifehead

There's room for argument, but I feel it nudges the line in the same way Dancouga does, borrowing from the "real robot" genre without crossing over. (Wing Gundam does the opposite, tangentially. It is a real robot show with a lot of super robot in its veins.) (And G Gundam is its own genre.)

I have said it before and i will say it again. A good theme doesnt just sound good. A good theme describes the character, movie or scene associated with it through music. This theme does that beautifully.

The sequel messed up because they tried following anime mecha genre route with kids piloting the robots. This only works if you have been doing for years and actually have a proper lore to it. But just saying oh yea let kids Pilot these huge robots after like 5 years of the first movie is kinda dumb.
ok i know you all want to denounce the sequel entirely but I think the part of it with Newt getting taken over by the Precursors was actually pretty good. Everything else about it kinda sucked though. Newt and Hermann will forever be the only redeeming features of Pacific Rim: Uprising.

The beat drop at 0:23 is what I live for; I remember this theme from back when I watched the movie. Its sequel might not have been the best, and the original certainly lacked in areas, but this theme kicks ass.

@@rAZEXD25 I suppose - like with gaming which I am passionate about - they just 'diluted' the costs of everything possible, which made Del Toro's scenario impossible to implement, as it most certainly demanded high quality. Instead they put of pitiful garbage from random, cheap junk, and here You go - the uprising, which I wouldn't call a sequet at all. It does not deserve it as all hell.
the worst part is that uprising had some really good ideas but was ruined by the execution. mako having an adoptive brother? an evil jaeger? hybrid drones? mega kaiju formed by fusing several kaiju? newt getting possessed because of his kaiju brain drifting? all the ingredients of a good movie was there, and they fucked it up.
honestly would have preferred a prequel instead about the first jaegers being built and the height of the jaeger program.

I love how each Jeager is basically its own character, they're so distinct in both design and fighting style. As soon as they appear on screen, you instantly recognize them. Romeo Blue, Striker Eureka, Cherno Alpha, Gypsy Danger, and Crimson Typhoon.
Even "Coyote Tango" which you only see for a few seconds in Mako's flashback was memorable and distinct. You can tell it was an older model with a more conventional military approach to combat just from the fact that it was the only Jaeger with giant shoulder-mounted artillery cannons. The only other Jaegers we see with ranged weapons is Striker Eureka with their chest missiles, and Gypsy Danger with the plasma cannon, which are all fired from close to mid-range
Too bad some of them had 0 screen time. I would have loved to see more of that russian Bender.

I love this movie. The way they did the Jaegers, especially Gypsy, was so amazing. I loved the sound that Gypsy made when she was going into battle. Did anyone realize that it was the sound that a battleship sounds when general quarters are called. It's that deep klaxon sound you hear when she surfaces on the battle against Knifehead

@@spectre111 Oh, Pacific Rim is TOTAL super robot in my book. There's room for argument, but I feel it nudges the line in the same way Dancouga does, borrowing from the "real robot" genre without crossing over.
(Wing Gundam does the opposite, tangentially. It is a real robot show with a lot of super robot in its veins.)
(And G Gundam is its own genre.)

The sequel messed up because they tried following anime mecha genre route with kids piloting the robots. This only works if you have been doing for years and actually have a proper lore to it. But just saying oh yea let kids Pilot these huge robots after like 5 years of the first movie is kinda dumb.
ok i know you all want to denounce the sequel entirely but I think the part of it with Newt getting taken over by the Precursors was actually pretty good. Everything else about it kinda sucked though. Newt and Hermann will forever be the only redeeming features of Pacific Rim: Uprising.
