    Probably one of the finest bowling balls still on the road. "Absolutely timeless"

    Another wonderful vintage Sportster - one of my favourite bikes of all time, brim full of charisma and street righteousness - such a pleasure to see . .

    Nice to see one with the original tank decals in the XLH electric start. model , I had a '75 XLCH bike was an animal but scary to kick start for me I was like 160 lbs. back then :)

    Bought that same exact bike, but in blue. Do not recall that style seat though. Mine was much more thinly padded. Kept that bike and made many changes over the years. Miss it terribly.

    My old man had a 75 xlch Ironhead Sportster....... it had candy apple metal flake 70s paint with nice Gold Leaf Harley-Davidson and a bunch of chrome...... straight drag bars with straight pipes.... and it was Kickstart only

    Coming from Europe and seeing someone carrying a gun on a holster like this always gets my attention but I keep forgetting thats the norm in your side of the puddle :D Great vids! You guys are doing a magnificent job for the mc history all across the world.

    That year and model was the first Harley I rode as a teenager… My dad taught me on that bike, other guys wore cologne to school and I smelled like Mothers chrome polish.

    1975 was the first year for the cross-over exhaust tube. So, those headers are probably from an earlier model.

    I'm not questioning the originality, but I'm curious about the matching numbers as my 75 doesn't have any vin plate or numbers stamped into the frame, just the engine. I thought Harleys didn't have full vin numbers until 1982. I don't deal with many motor cycles though.

      That is a nice original 75. My first Harley was a XLCH brand new when I was 18 lol. The exh on mine had a cross over just below the carb, I’m thinking the headers aren’t stock on yours and the seat didn’t have that raised area for the passenger
      Other then that I would love to have it in my collection

      When you're at war with a bike theft ring that robbed your shop and threatened to burn your house down and after you had them arrested and in prison after you set them up when they get out of prison they get arrested for running a stolen gun ring any other questions go ahead and ask speak the truth

    75 was the first year for the left side shifter on the Sportster. I bought one new in 75 for $2300. HD didn’t have much time to come up with a left side shifter after the government mandated all motorcycles had to have that. They quickly threw a less than decent shifter onto the Sportster to comply with the new mandate. It was sloppy to say the least. But with all of that said, I have nothing but great memories of my early twenties on that thing.

    • @paulgrogan8032
      @paulgrogan8032 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As I recall Rich, they just ran a adapter linkage to transfer the shift to the left side. I think it wasn't untill around 77 that they actually ran a pinion rod through the transmission.

      @@ericalger5003 You can't get the same feeling riding a 72 sporster and a 96 sporster. Kicking and riding a 72 with that sound and vibration, bolts and nuts coming loose ,occasionally, drops of oil here and there. Better than sex!

      @@ericalger5003 I've heard people years ago tell me how good British bikes handle. I rode a friend's 66 Triumph 650, and a 71 BSA 650 lightning. I didn't like the way either one handled and turned. But did like the way they looked. I thought the ride was rather stiff on both. I owned 9 1970's sporsters. Would take a sporty over a limey any day.

      I've got a75 XLH restoration project and hadn't ridden my 75 yet, but just moving it around is difficult, especially with it being top heavy. I think I'd prefer my hands further apart.
