I have an Ironhead from 1975 that is very close to 100% original and without a single grain of rust. I boought it last summer in the pandemic from a guy in Australia who could not go home because of "the situation" , he has been driving around in Europe from England to Denmark. He bought it from an old man in Wales and the bike has been in a garage with heat and just polished in more than 25 years. It has only 6000 miles on the clock. This is a keeper until I die ;-)

I pulled a 73 xlch out of a old storage shed 2 days ago, where it had sat since 1994, the price was extremely low and the bike was very complete and original, engine was not stuck and kicks over very well with decent compression, after much thought, its too good to chop, resto or resto mod is the only fitting route, " let the games begin" many kudos to Kaplan America for a fantastic page,

I own a 1968 XLCH 900CC Sportster. I am 76 years old and bought it brand new from Rieman's Harley D in Kewanee, Illinois when I was 22 years old. Roger Rieman was the top motorcycle racer in the U. S. at that time, had won Dayton races and was the chief mechanic for Evil Knievel when he was doing his famous jumps. Roger did work on my bike. His dad, Henry owned the business and was a state hill climb champion. It has 11,000 miles on it, looks great, runs great and I will never sell it. When I bought it, the bike was one of, if not the most powerful and fastest bikes around. Believe it or not, It still has the magneto and I still kick start it at my age, younger bikers that I know won't attempt it. The price I paid for the bike was $1,850.00 which included tax.

Got 4 Harleys, a 2006 XL1200C, a 78 XLH, an 82 XLH, and a 73 XLH, and even tho the XL1200c has more power, is smoother, and more reliable, I can still say without a doubt I luv the iron-heads best! They just remind me more of a vintage Harley, and handle the rough roads better, and are lighter and more nimble!

@@KaplanCycles I have a little girl, shes almost 1 year old now. I want to get a bike for her by the time she is 2 so she can start riding shortly there after. I am located in Canada, but if you have or come across any cheap, little bikes in good shape can you somehow let me know? I was injured pretty badly in a motorcycle accident in November when she was just a few months old so I don't have money to buy her a new bike at the moment but I absolutely want her to experience what I did when I was younger (I'm still young, 34 to be percise) but the accident where I was ran over by someone has put a bind in my gears when it comes to finding her a bike. She is my first and only child and I want her to experience motorcycles from a young age. I would love to find a newer pw50 or z50 for her to learn on! Someday I really hope to get down to your museum!

Don't have a CR any more but I do now have a 74 XLCH hard tailed drag style street bike that does hit the strip. At 405 lbs wet and stroked to 1200 with some big ass Sifton cams and Jerry Branch ported heads it goes pretty damn good.

Beautiful, beautiful bike - congrats!. Regarding the turn signals, I'm not sure if it was state by state, or Federal law, but I got a "fix it" ticket on my '76 Ironhead for not having them in 1978 here in Washington state. My current '76 XLCH doesn't have them either - I took them off in about 1980. So, you're right, it's pretty rare to find one today that still has them. It's because the flasher always crapped out, and we had to do it manually, like you are doing - go into an epileptic fit with your thumb on the button! Cool bike, though, man - too bad I'm all the way over in Seattle. You get a lot of great Ironheads - we could do an Ironhead ride together. Oh well... I'll just have to keep watching for what you come up with on TH-cam.

XLCH? If this all original, then it's a XLH. The XLCH has no electric start so would have a different oil tank, battery box, and chain sprocket cover.
