Hi there! Thanks for this great video, gives me confidence to attempt brake pads replacement on my FZ6.
Have you not had any squicking noises since changing brake pads? I have noticed that you did not use "caliper lubricant" - the paste used on contact of pad with caliper to limit vibrations and prevent squicking. I am always using it on my car's brake pads. You think this is not necessary on bike's brake pads?

Hey Paul. Not a problem and thanks for the question. No, I do not use "lub" unless I'm in the bedroom. But yes, it is completely unnecessary and in fact I believe it to interfere with functionality. Keep the rubber side down my friend.

Appreciate you posting this video, especially after having already finished the job. Quick question, was that just a Haynes manual that listed the torque specs, if not what brand of manual was it if you remember?

Thanks mate. I will use this video when the summer comes back here in Norway 👍
Do you have a video on how to change break fluid on the same bike? Thanks, and keep up the good work 👌

Happy to help! Sorry, I sold the bike so I don't have a break fluid flush and change vid. I will say I picked up a simple kit to vacuum pressure the break lines with a syringe. Very helpful.

Did you applied more torque on your bolts, because you didn't show how you tightining it 😣

Man i did this exact sequence, but my pads seem to still drag on my rotors once i build pressure back into brake lever. It spins freely like the video until i pressurize lever, then they seem to be too tight

Any experience in changing the rear pads? Is it similar?

I have the same bike and I bought it used. It only has 13k miles on it and I'm hearing a screech from the fromt brakes. Do mc brakes also have that piece of metal that warns you?

I believe so but am not 100% sure. Luckily, it's pretty easy to visually inspect the pads. They may have excessive wear or you may just have debris stuck behind the pad. The front breaks are the most vital, so if in doubt, replace.

With what kind of OEM brakepads does the FZ6 come with? Sintered or organic?

How do you compress the caliper pistons? I tried fitting a caliper tool in there with no luck. The new pads have more shoe than the old ones, so with the new pads in the caliper, there is not enough clearance for the rotor to fit through. Anyone know?

Jared Shelton hiya, just done mine and very straight forward. Once pads are out just thumb push callipers in, they go in easily. Once pin is in use packaging to get them wider so its easier putting the whole thing back on disc.
