Good job brother that extra 5 to 8 minutes at the end of detail work is what sets us apart from other barbers. Along with the ears, eyebrows when asked etc. Killed it. Fellas take notes. We're always learning and evolving 💈👍🏼
This is a PERFECT video for me. I’m a beginner and always take too long trying to detail but never knew how to go about it. This helped me put things in perspective and keep in my guidelines. Not go all around the fade, stick to that section. I always trip if I don’t hear anything and then I go to high. Stick to the script. Perfect video for people like me. Thank you Sean. Your the man. Love the new videos and editor.
I appreciate the vids. I've learned a lot from you over the past 2 n half years... I'm a newer barber (1 year, 8 months) and I've been watching your videos since barber school. Keep doing your thang!
great video man, detail work is always what sets ppl apart from others, going that extra mile to try and perfect the fade. thank you for all the knowledge man
Sean your videos have helped me so much with my fades, truly appreciate your break down of how you do your steps and the way the you verbally articulate what you’re doing. Keep killing it my man 🤙🏼🔥
If you ever have time, I think a good video to teach people something would be to show different ways to set your initial guideline or bald line. Like how to pay attention to where the ears are, where the eyebrows are etc. But I'm also interested in seeing how to start my guideline starting from the back and then going around..
I have been putting in my guidelines looking at the bottom corner of the clients eyebrows and then following around but somehow once I get around the back neither line is matching up so I then have to adjust.. I at least personally could use some advice for setting in a nice even guideline..thx man!
Could you do a video on “How to NOT Compress a Fade” Sometimes I go thru my system & as soon as the client walks away I see that it’s not as Gradient as I thought
Have to give yourself enough space. Barbers are always afraid to take it too high and end up too compressed. Just make sure you give enough room for each guard.
I know I’m late but very helpful video! Great way breaking it down and explaining every aspect. This is something I struggle with still so I definitely needed this. 💯
Thanks for this, as a beginner I tend to struggle reading the hair type and how previously was cut, hopefully you can do a video how to read the hair before cutting it
If I understand your meaning, I think what is going to be the most helpful to you is making sure you do a thorough consultation with your client before you start the cut. It's not always a good thing to just look at what was previously done and try to mimic it because it could have been a mediocre fade previously. Make sure in your consultation that you ask what they liked and didn't like about their previous haircut. Asking discovery questions will guide you on how best to perform the service. Hope that helped!
@cheungman83 if they don't know. I always ask do you want 1, 2 or 3 fingers high and hold your index finger above their ear to indicate a low fade, add your middle finger on top for a medium fade and your ring finger for a high fade. So the width of your three fingers is going to be a high fade.High fades are typically done when the clients hair grows straight out on the sides at the parietal ridge. Unless it's a bald military fade. Also if your boss is not willing to train you to a certain extent with your consultations, I would maybe consider finding another shop that will help you grow your skills. I've always worked in fast pace shops as well but you will get better and learn how to read between the lines of what the client is having trouble explaining.
@@taraduddy7687 much appreciate for your help, i will give that a try, my boss tries to help me as much as she can but she always cutting non-stop all day but she the only person who accepted me as i'm a beginner barber where no one else willing to take me on, she very strict to me but says thats the best way for me to learn, she always find faults when checking over my haircuts so sometimes im afraid to ask her questions about cutting tips.
Awesome details Could we get a detailed video of connecting the back of the head and detail fade of it? More business talks as well. Hope you’re well mate 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The problem area I have is blending out 2 guard or into 1.5 area. Particularly hair with lots of dark spots and patches. I sit there trying to take it out with my 1.5 forever and it never comes out. Definitely going to use this technique and corner cut with smaller guards. Any other videos on this?
If the 1.5 doesn’t take it out go back to the open 1 and just be careful. This is the first detailing video I did but my recent fade video is solid too
Those are just tough cuts to do. Follow your steps and then cut to color when you detail. If there’s a dark spot just use the corners and cut it down until it goes away
Quick question Sean instead of using the 2,3&4 guards we can just use the clipper over comb right the highest guard I use is the short 2. Great video tho like always 🔥
You can but clipper over comb limits you sometimes since it only really gives you one type of transition. You can pack the 4-3-2 into a small area versus clipper over comb stretching it out
Great video Sean as always i have a question about this part 7:14 what should I do if I don’t have an experienced barber next to me? Thanks for the tips that you gave
Dope vid. It you'd fade a shorter beard (1-8mm), how many lever positions and guards would you roughly take in between guidelines? Got sc saber and gamma+ abs alpha
Is it just me but i notice certain clippers make the crunch noise with certain guards more too. I know babyliss clippers usually have the crunch sound as far as clippers but what guards do you use?
It operates the same way just have to constantly brush it back down. You can use these same exact techniques just have to cut the top different obviously
The taper/fusion is shaped more like a fade blade but with ridges like a taper blade. Taper blades are thicker with a tapered edge going down to the point
@@Seancutshair yeah I get it, thank you 🙏 I have more experience with straight textured hair thanks to Paul Mitchell barbering program my instructor only gave me straight hair clients after graduating &passing stateboard I started getting more coarse hair it’s kind of the same but it’s way more detail work I’m trying to develop my barber eye any tips on coarse hair?
please can you help me. I watch several channels to learn more about barbering, but problem is open en close the clipper. One time they say clipper open en handle is up, in the other video he is down or the way around. they say clipper close, and the handle is up It confuses me. Please help thank you (4.32 clipper close, the handle is all the way up, earlier you say clipper open, and you also the handle all the way up (1.43) , how is that possible)

Jeez, this is extremely helpful. Always dropping knowledge. Most barber tutorials never show the detailing process.
People been asking forever! It’s just hard to explain. Hope it made sense

We’re working on some changes to the academy so you’ll see what’s happening soon!
Appreciate the video man I’m currently going through barber school and these videos have been so much help.

Good luck!
Genuinely helpful just seen u make an appearance on Dres channel too cant wait to see u finally hit 100k u deserve it 💯❤️

Taper blade vs fusion blade video ?😊
Not a bad idea
Dope vid. It you'd fade a shorter beard (1-8mm), how many lever positions and guards would you roughly take in between guidelines? Got sc saber and gamma+ abs alpha
I use the same steps no matter if it’s a fade or taper or blending a beard
i can relate to all of this but i learned it by mistakes you are very underrated

fantastic detail work. thank u sir
Thank you!!!
Your tips and tutorial are very valuable
Appreciate it! Glad you think so!
bro amazing video quality and eiting,,learned a lot,,thanks,,,do you have some online course for sissorwork? and connectons?
I’m working on a course, but I have a lot of videos with some technical shear work
Great vid mate! What clipper guards do you use? 🔥
I was using martyblendz premiums which are basically Wahl premiums. They got super loud lately so I’m using Babyliss premiums now
Is it just me but i notice certain clippers make the crunch noise with certain guards more too. I know babyliss clippers usually have the crunch sound as far as clippers but what guards do you use?
Or what clippers crunch the most to you?
I think it all has to do with the blade. My influencer lo pros crunch super nice with the faper blade
When you do your initial debulking with the 3 guard do you do it closed or open?
Great video as always
Thank you 😬
What music do you play in shop to keep it family friendly?
We play a good mix on Apple Music but it blocks explicit music
I appreciate ur videos . Fr!!!
