💯💯💯💯💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I know right!!!! They must tie the knot because they are perfect for each other. Friends turn to lovers…. It will be the foundation of a very strong marriage. Love them!!!
My theory is Oscar marries a wealthy widow in a marriage of convenience. I think Larry's former paramour. We will know nothing of whom she is until they return from a tour of Europe with a new baby in tow, Oscar's wife's menopause baby, just in time to wreak havoc for Larry and Marion either newly engaged or recently married. Lary will suspect the child is his. Bertha will too. We will know it is as it will be made clear to us it was a marriage of connivence. Oscar 's new wife will have recognized he is gay but agrees to give him a hefty allowance in exchange for claiming the child as his. I know men got control over their wives' finances back then, but we will learn her late husband had put a codicil in the will to protect her from fortune hunters with a trust with an established power of attorney that is not broken by her remarrying. Oscar will still be agreeable because he still gets a lavish lifestyle much better than he would have gotten from an allowance from Aunt Ada. Of course, he may have married before he even knew about Aunt Ada's inheritance. If his new wife was pregnant, they would waste no time. I think she would have propositioned him as soon as she learned of the scam which she would have heard through the servants' grapevine.
This series is the best one to hit the TV since Downton Abbey. I love all the characters and hope Marian and Larry get married. Can’t wait for season 3. Excellent Writing Julian Fellows keep them coming.
I think that when Bertha is smiling, and her smile slowly goes away, it's because she sees her sister. I read that Merritt Wever will be joining the cast as Monica O'Brien Bertha's sister. Remember in the first season when George suggested that she invite her sister to come stay with them and Bertha quickly said no. I have a feeling as Bertha is climbing the social ladder to the top, her sister is going to remind everyone of where she comes from.
Looking forward to Gladys going full on Consuelo Vanderbilt. If George and Bertha were to divorce, it would be season five or six, well after Gladys' wedding. But I'm most excited to see more Larry and Marian.
Oh, no! Consuelo's story was a sad one. I'm hoping Gladys does what Consuelo couldn't do -- elope with the man she loves, aided and abetted by her father, who promised he would support her when she found the man she truly loved.
I am all for Larrian! Yes! They both deserve love and with his new money and Marian’s old family it is a perfect combination! Cheers, Michael Albuquerque NM USA,
A deeper dive into the black elites....YES YES YES!!!! I love that Marion and Larry are courting each other!!! Aww George and Bertha having problems...I hate that!
I don't see a marrige happening between Larry and Marian in season 3, but more like a proposal. And I don't think Agnes can object to the union. Not when there is the power shift betwen her and Ada in season 2, and Ada will support Marian and Larry. And I think even Agnes will understand that Larry is by all acounts, a good match for Marian. I could see Bertha disaprove, and wanting Larry to marry Caroline Astor, but since Larry is a boy, he has more freedom to marry whom he wants. I don't see how Bertha can get Gladys to marry the Duke. The Duke has to get George's permission, and George already promised Gladys that he would support her marrying for love. He could reject the Duke, because he controls the dowery. And yes, I want a love interest for Peggy, and for her to some success with her writing. And defientely, to see Bertha and Agnes go toe to toe with eachother.
I do see a marriage happening if only because of money. During this time, a lot of old money people began marrying the nouveau riche for financial security. Such as Caroline Astor
I hope they get engaged and married I love them together their so adorable they are both so alike both so good nature so open minded I just really think they are a better match then Bertha and George
If Bertha Russell's screenplay trajectory follows that of Alver Vanderbilt then she'll divorce her husband and build another Gilded Age Palace on Long Island.
Alva's husband kept a mistress in Paris. although she treated her daughter not too kind her husband was a womanizer. I assume she got a belly full and decided to chance the scandal a divorce would bring upon her. Stupid world's double standard. Hubby is the cheater and the wife was ostracized.
@@peachygal4153 Similarly, Mrs Astor's husband, reputedly, entertained a succession of show girls on his yatch but had the good grace to keep his philandering out of the ballrooms and house parties of New York by never setting foot on dry land. Reminds me of the film High Society where Tracy Lord tries to prevent her father's infidelity from becoming infamous by entertaining two reporters from Spy Magazine, sent to cover her wedding. Similarly, JFK Jnr had more partners than a "two dollar whore" on Fleet Week but money, in his case, makes problems like public condemnation go away and we rarely hear about these things.
High Society is a favourite of mine because it shows the American Millionaire Class in a far more opulent style than the cultured "Old Money" cramped quarters of the Philadelphia Story; there's a distinct difference of display between the Astor & Russell Households and their Houses but by the time we see the Lord's and C. Dexter Haven's of the Country Club society, they have acquired the respectability of longevity and earned their place in New Port by sticking around long enough to be thought of "Old Money" themselves. Plus, Grace Kelly is essentially playing Grace Kelly because she came from that niche in Philadelphia society that was "New Money" but through her mother claimed descent from the noble families of Catholic Germany. Of course, at the time of filming, she was engaged to Prince Rainier and she was going to achieve what so many Americans had done before but she was hardly a "Dollar Princess" but her elevation mirrors that of so many Buccaneers before her, as Edith Wharton described in her novel of the same name.
What about Oscar? Hope he is in the season too. I truly wish he found a way to redeem himself. I think this show wasted a potent character like Mrs Morris. She would have been a better match for Mrs Winterton. I don't get Turners angst towards Bertha. Mrs Morris is the one with a bone to crush with her. She lost her husband, house and money partly because of the Russells and she never liked bertha. With a husband independent of Russell's charity it would have been an interesting watch.
@@ziizee4614 If you want to avoid a big spoiler, avoid Oscar-related content because from what I could see behind the scenes, he has a very interesting plot line waiting for him in season 3.
