    The royal flush happens @ 32:07 in case anybody stopped watching before that. I've had 5 royal flushes in my life using two cards, this is the only time I've ever seen one dealt on board and I'm nearly certain that I'll never see it happen again; I've actually only heard of it happening two other times. Unfortunately it happened on a day that I only planned to document on IG and Twitter, which is why the shot was filmed vertically. Here's a link to the Tweet for a slightly longer clip, there's not much more here though either:

      I once saw a royal flush dealt for the community cards in a PLO game online. It was obvious that one player either didn't understand Omaha or temporarily forgot the two card rule because he lost his entire stack (~$1700) with nothing to the other player's 9-7 "nut flush". There wasn't really much action on the flop or the turn, but it went all in on the river. I can't really reconstruct the action, but clearly he thought he was calling for a chop.

    I was the other player in the double board bomb pot hand with Mr. Owens. I agree that the mistake was unfortunate and an honest and easy mistake by the dealer and other players. Reading double board PLO bomb pots is tough. I agree that everyone was distracted by the 3 sixes in his hand.
    However, I would like to clarify a small but important point. After the 3rd party player (his name is Hai and he is a true gentleman and great all around person) brought up the fact that he believed that Brad had the winning flush, Brad and I agreed to just have the floor check the overhead cameras so we could simply and efficiently figure out if a mistake had been made. Usually when this occurs, play is stopped because you cannot continue play with chips in a stack that may not belong there (for example, if play is not stopped, what happens if I were to lose all of my chips on the next hand? Trying to rectify the mistake would be compounded many times over. And with the way I play, it was a distinct possibility.)
    However, instead, I just set the disputed amount of chips to the side and continued play. The unusual thing is that checking the cameras usually takes 3-5 minutes. However, in this case, about 15 minutes had passed and I think both Brad and I were getting nervous and wanted the issue resolved. So finally, Brad pulled out his phone and since he Vlogs, he showed me a picture of his tabled hand (nut spades) and after I made a photoshop joke, I quickly shipped him half the pot, no questions asked.
    This is where it gets interesting. After all of this, the floor finally came over and sheepishly admitted that for some reason, the camera did not pick up his cards and he could not definitively say what cards Brad had tabled. I told the floorman not to worry about it because it was resolved between the two of us.
    However, if Brad had not been a Vlogger, I don't think he gets half that pot back. Because while I consider myself to be a fair person, I am never shipping that pot over to him based on the recollection of player(s) at the table, 5 minutes after the hand is over. However, it raised the interesting hypothetical of what would have happened if the floor had come to us prior to us resolving the issue and told us about the camera issue. I discussed this hypothetical with some fellow poker enthusiast friends and I wonder what the proper ruling would have been if I had decided to not split the pot. The room's cameras did not read his cards. But he had taken his own video of the hand showing he had a winner.
    I think that the ruling would have been to split the pot but what does the chat think the proper ruling should be in that situation? Also, what would the chat do if faced with a similar situation where the opposing player has evidence of his/her hand but the poker room does not? Good, interesting questions.

    • @ionalien
      @ionalien 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a really interesting situation. Even if the floor decides to accept the video evidence, they can't force you to hand over the chips though, best they can do is bar you if you decide to keep the chips.

    • @jarirepo1172
      @jarirepo1172 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally you need(at least you should) to be bankrolled to play so losing a pot / half pot should never be issue. It's way more important to be as fair and honest as you can in any such situation, if you can get and keep solid reputation people will like you more and want to play with you; but if you swindle even once and poker room and everyone knows it... you can easily get banned and at the very least shunned upon. Everyone should just remember that whatever is happening in the moment, will pass by soon and your future always hangs in balance.
      For poker rooms part, they probably have rules set up somewhere that try to cover most of disputes. As long as they'd follow their set rules, I would be reasonably ok with whatever decision comes out. If I don't like the rules, then I'd play somewhere else. Naturally rules are there to ensure fairness so usually there should be no problems.

    • @megacheese
      @megacheese 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Firstly, kudos to you for doing the right thing, i hope it translates to rungood for you in the future!
      Regarding the bombpot, i think ultimately it's on the dealer to call and end action and the table talk made her misread the hands being played (in her defense everyone at the table misread the hand because of the 6's) but as it is her job i think ultimately it falls on her calling the bottom board too early.
      The cage not catching the board is super strange though, it's a big security flaw and if something like in your scenario were to happen it could really damage the trust players have with the poker room.

    • @cinnabon7127
      @cinnabon7127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@megacheese I should have made this clear in my earlier reply. I am not critical of anyone involved. The dealer made an honest and easy mistake, double board PLO bomb pots are sometimes tough to read; in fact, many very seasoned poker players all missed it at the table. Everyone makes mistakes and she is a great dealer who I have never seen make errors like that before or after, and I play there a lot. Kudos to Hai for noticing the error and speaking up. Kudos to Brad who handled it like a gentleman and was not demanding or aggressive about it. He makes a point to tell every player that leaves his table that he enjoyed playing with them and wishes them well. And the Lodge is a top notch card room. Their floor makes good fair rulings and their dealers/employees are always professional and polite. It is by far the best place to play in Austin and I have played in all of the rooms here. It was just an unfortunate situation that ended in a very fair manner, IMHO.

      Spade royal is up to 9K on the Monte Carlo at the casino I play live at.
      I've had one royal in a home game and another online. Congrats on two especially with people raising. I've had one against me when I had a flush, I shove, opponent calls show royal. Crazy how poker works. You play exactly how you should and lose and when you fold shit cards they hit. I'm in a rut lately getting my ass handed to me but it will come back around for me

      I almost had my first last week. I had AKhearts flop QJ6 all hearts. A guy lead into me on the flop, which you gotta love. We get it all in on turn. He flips over 89 hearts and says "I at least have to have the ten of hearts as an out." "No, you don't." Royal didn't come. If it had come wouldda been a little sick since the room doesn't have a bad beat jackpot.

      A few years ago I got a royal flush in back-to-back weeks at a friendly home game. The 2nd RF I had the Ace with the other four cards on the board while my opponent had the 9 to complete his straight flush. Needless to say that was a bad beat for him.

    First time I hit a royal flush in live poker, I hit quad jacks the very next hand!
    That was 2 years ago, and have went bankrupt ever since….
    I should really quit poker. 😅 Keep it up on the felt!

      Jeeeez mike i had the same about 6 years ago. Hit royal in diamonds on the turn, then next hand hit quads jacks. Even more crazy is 2nd hand after jacks, the dude i beat with jacks hit straight flush. Was wild 3 of 4 hands. My name is mike also.

    • @ChosenWON402

      @@jacksonmehoff4963 Haha what a strange coincidence!
      I host a $.50/$1 cash game once a month, dealers choice. The Royal hand happened to be runner runner for me in Omaha when I flopped too pair, with a gut shot and back door diamond draw.
      The quads hand was in Texas hold ‘em. Just so happened to be played against the two players that call me down the lightest of our group and happened to get paid on both of them.
      Hope you did too!
