I agree. The makeup of George and Gordon Bau brothers was excellent and frightening! And in my opinion, it was just as frightening as Lionel Atwill's makeup, done by Perc Westmore in the original version, Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933).
@@paulfuray8557 Just in case you’re wondering, the movie clip here is actually from a remake of the 1932 movie “Mystery of the Wax Museum”. The 2005 version is a remake in name only, with the plot being very different than the other two movies.
The scariest thing of all is how no one noticed the putrefying bodys filling the place I love the suspension of reality in these old films this one in particular is a shining gem
RIP Vincent Price (May 27, 1911 - October 25, 1993), aged 82 RIP Charles Bronson (November 3, 1921 - August 30, 2003), aged 81 RIP Phyllis Kirk (September 18, 1927 - October 19, 2006), aged 79 You will be remembered as legends.
I saw this the 1st time when I was about 7 years old, and I found it so fascinating. Yes it was scary but I had to watch it every single time it came on after that!
If that is the real actress who played Cathy who is standing there as the wax statue, it must have taken a great deal of precision to do that scene -- having to make her not move and everything.
Also the voice in Michael Jackson's Thriller video. One of the most creepy / recognizable voices of all time. Legend status. 💯 Vincent Price also starred in one episode of the Love Boat in the 70s , as a hypnotist . I grew up in the 70s . I liked Wolfman Jack's voice too. 😂
This is a movie where I wanted the bad guys to win. Vincent Price one of my all time favourite actors ever and Charles Bronson was great in this as well.
This is where it began for me as a kid born in the 60s. I was fascinated with House of Wax The original Time Machine movie. The original War of the Worlds. The old black and white movie The Incredible Shrinking Man . I love those old movies. 💯❤️ I've seen and love the remakes as well too .But I have to many memories and nostalgia associated with the older movies. You had to grow up with them to fully appreciate them. I probably wouldn't care about them if I was in my 20s today though . TBH.
This is one of my two all-time favorite horror/spooky movies. Not coincidentally, they both star the legendary Vincent Price.. :-] I love this one! Oh, by the way..Phyllis Kirk looks gorgeous.. :-]
Jim, it is Roger Corman's THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961). I have never seen HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, except a little bit of it, years and years ago. I should check it out.. :-]
Let's face it, everything Vincent Price ever did was great. I was lucky enough to see him on stage in a one-man show as Oscar Wilde called 'Diversions and Delights'. It was the culmination of my life long fan worship.
Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933) was also great. This film was a remake of that, and I love both of them. Lionel Atwill and Vincent Price both made great villains.
@@rickymay4096 Almost the same story, scene for scene. Even some of the wax figures look as though they were created from the same molds in both movies!
I would sure like to see another remake of this classic film made, but not like the 2005 version, but with either Scarlett Johansson as the main female lead character.
Nor as scary when Dr. Jill turns over in bed in the morning and see's Joey without his: dentures, his hair cream, and his face make up (ultra white for the cameras!)
Lucy McLaughlin that's so sad that Cathy had to be waxed like that! Take like Cathy for example: imagine if that was your father's body covered in wax😢😫😥😫😖😞😢😭😦😧😩!
That moment when he stands up from his chair, towering over her. So powerful yet frightening.
Great effect
One of the great lines in history: "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT,MY DEAR!!"
Ronald Vaughan Which one is Burke? and which one is Jarrod?
Burke is the guy who burns the museum down. Jarred is Vincent Price.
"A lot has been taken away from me, but not you, my Marie Antoinette. For I will give you eternal life."
♥️
I swear I've heard that type of line in many places! 😂
'Everything I ever loved has been taken away from me. Not you, my Marie Antoinette, for I will give you eternal life!'
Revealing his face was genuinely scary
Did not see that coming !
I agree. The makeup of George and Gordon Bau brothers was excellent and frightening! And in my opinion, it was just as frightening as Lionel Atwill's makeup, done by Perc Westmore in the original version, Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933).
I can't help but be reminded of Mary Poppins somehow. Must be the dress.
They are both elegant, classy ladies!
You have a point there, she does look like Mary Poppins!
Yeah.... now that you mention it.... the resemblance is definitely there!
The nose...
It's the hat, it's the dress... if she were British, I'd almost say it IS the same actress.
Vincent Price was iconic af !! Revealing his real face i would’ve fainted too lol
This movie is more spooky than the stuff that comes out these days.
This 1953 version is SO much better than the 2005 re-make.

I’d legitimately watch this in a cinema.
I watched this in a nearby cinema today... It was fun...
I love this one. The newer version is nothing like this. You don’t need blood, guts, and gore to make a great movie.
The new one isn't even based off of this. It's more a Tourist Trap 1979 remake.
@@dr.feelgoodmalusphillips2475exactly I’m confused cause this reminds me of Wednesday Addams and the night at the museum

Vincent Price & Charles Bronson: Amazing Roles
The movies we have now makes the old movies look like a play
The unmasking can bring nightmares to kids.
I saw this the 1st time when I was about 7 years old, and I found it so fascinating. Yes it was scary but I had to watch it every single time it came on after that!
THE RESTORED VERSION IS AMAZING!!!
if his face was supposed to be wax, how did he move his mouth and show expression? But i do love this film!
If that is the real actress who played Cathy who is standing there as the wax statue, it must have taken a great deal of precision to do that scene -- having to make her not move and everything.
The actress who played Cathy went on to become Morticia in the classic TV series, "The Addams Family."
I don't think it's actually her standing there, but they sure made this one realistic looking. And yes, that's the future Morticia Addams!
This was a Vincent Price movie. His last movie, he was the inventor of Edward Scissorhands.
his last movie was The Thief And The Cobbler.

I was laughing at the way she hits him with the softest parts of her fists. Until his face broke off. I became quiet. Shocking stuff.
This is where films started from these classics!
Holy smokes! This scene made me think of the Phantom of the Opera.

I saw the 2005 one, still a favorite, however I still want to see this one, see where it all began. Is it based off a book too or anything
