    I found a Brother KH840 at a thrift shop. I'm finally ready to try to learn it. I'm hoping cleaning it up before I try to knit will make a difference.
    Thank you for your video! It helped me out so much!! Sending hugs and good vibes from Central Florida

    Brilliant video! I've just bought this exact machine for £20 at a charity shop and will be machine knitting for the first time for about 25 years. It is dirty and the sponge bar is in the same condition as the one on your machine, this video shows me exactly what to do! Thank you!

    Thank you for this video. With this machine being "new to me" but stored for many years I now feel confident in getting it out and giving it a clean before testing it.

    Thanks for video! I recently purchased a vintage KH 831 directly from Japan. I might venture taking off the plastic to clean there. FYI was able to clean my needles in a pot of boiling water with about 1/4 cup of vinegar and once water was at a slight boil I added about 1/4 cup of baking soda and it fizzed up and dirt and rust fizzed away. Some of my needles are still somewhat discolored from the rust but they’re smooth ,and then dried them and rubbed with a bit of oil. I figured if vinegar and baking soda can clean a charred cooking pan it would clean the needles and it worked ☺️. You just need a pot to accommodate fizzing about 3 inches above the water once the baking soda is added.

    Thank you for video.
    Bought KH-881 at auction in Japan. There were not instructions.
    I disassembled it myself, and also created several videos.

    Excellent! Thank you. Nice and clear. I need to give the machines I got a couple of years ago some tlc. The ribber I have never even used - so that is going to need a bit more work. Now I know where to start. Thanks

    Scarlett thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve just acquired this machine (never had or used one before) from a very kind lady on Freecycle. It is quite old and smells like Germoline and Old Spice, which was quite nostalgic!
    Anyway, I just could NOT get it to work. The carriage keeps getting stuck and the knitting isn’t catching on the comb. After watching your video I’ve successfully removed all of the needles and very excited to get it cleaned up!

    I've cleaned my needles with surgical spirit but they still seem to have "gunk" in the bendy bit. Do I need to do it again?

    Bonjour.

      Merci

      I only use the spirits with a brush and work it onto the bed. Usually
      But if you go to your local auto shop and explain what materials you are using it on they will sell you a form cleaner

    when i opened my machine, there were 2 sponge strips, ona about 1 3/4 inches wide under the needle bed in addition to the sponge strip in your video. I know both were probably original because the foam disintegrated in my hands. I haven't seen a video about the second sponge bar, what is it for? Please and Thank You Brian

    • @scarletpeate
      @scarletpeate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brian. Could you possibly email a picture and a location of where it all was please to. Scarletpeate@gmail.com then I can't make a mistake. In an electronic and some. There is a second rectangle of sponge as a silencer on the outer body underneath Inside.

      I was told that weather stripping is harmful to use instead of actual sponge bar material. Do you know the difference?

    • @scarletpeate
      @scarletpeate  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @druidsongevergreens I’m afraid I don’t know this. But I only use the sponge type. That’s identical to sponge bar not the rubberised version. Maybe that helps x
