  • A lot of "first times" for us on this adventure.
    First time:
    Hunting out of the state
    In Alaska
    Driving 31 strait hours
    Hunting in the backcountry
    Planing a hunt like this
    Flying in a Supercub
    Living in a tent
Spending this much time with my dad
    Shooting a moose
    Eating moose meat
    and many more
We spent a lot of money for this hunt because we didn't have gear for a hunt like this. We still have and use a lot of the gear we bought for this hunt. We ended up spending around $25,000 for this hunt, that included a trailer, fuel, tags and licenses, tent, sleeping bags, Sitka gear, camera gear, getting my truck ready for the trip, air taxi (Jim and his SuperCub), getting the meat home, and a bunch of misc. stuff.

I really enjoyed that. I think a lot of us dream about taking Dad up to Alaska, I know I do. I'm glad you guys done it, trip like that stays with you forever. Kinda wished you'd have shown mom's reaction to getting the old guy back home safe, and when she seen the size of that moose rack.

Great hunt you had, awesome trip up and then the flying out part of the adventure. An to top it off you connected on two good bulls.
What was the spread on Adams bull, he’s good to go with having 4 brow tines but I’m curious what the spread ended up being? Ive been lucky enough to call Alaska home for over 30 years now and have many successful hunts with my children and we even harvested some animals over that time and I always wanted to get my dad up here to go out with us one time. I would like to think it would go just like yours did, even if we did not get a animal, the trip would be worth it.
I give this video two thumbs up.

Part 1- Your Smaller set of antlers, in my opinion, is even better looking than the 64" set (because of the distinct tines on the Palms)!! In early 80s, I got a 62" Bull near the Border of B. C. & Yukon (in B. C.), Which would make it a Canada Moose, Not Alaska-Yukon!! My 62" Moose had 12 long Tines on the Palms, alone 😳🥺 A Canadian guide whom I know (Probably retired now), Calls Bulls with "Jagged" edges (instead of Times), "Dips & Valleys" (Jokingly)!! And luckily, Neither one of yours had!! The other thing that makes Moose Antlers, beautiful, is a distinct "Butterfly"!! Which happens when the antlers, on both Sides, look similar to the wings of a Swallowtail Butterfly. When you get lucky with these, the "Brow tine" looks like a Small Palms with Several or more tines of it's Own!! On both counts, I was lucky, of course, I Passed Up, 8 decent bulls, and finally, I Called the Ninth one in myself (with a moose-call, made with a Coffee Can & Bootlace! But Unlike you guys, I wasn't lucky enough to get a moose with horns 😃😀 (just Joking)😂

You leave all that meat hanging in the rain? Faster spoiler of them all.

I called the pilot and he flew it out and placed all the meat in my freezer at his shop. I did keep some camp meat and knew it wouldn’t spoil before it got eaten 😉
