You can have low unemployment figures , but if majority of locals are underemployed through gig jobs, this shows the job situation is not at all rosy as what the government is trying to portray.
PMET jobs are now displaced by new foreigners brought in by ruling party... Worst still jobless citizen to survive, most take up gigs(grab food, food panda, lalamove) working several jobs and long hour a day. This is what Mr Leong mentioned under employment(meaning, the person is not employed based on his skills and qualification). 1/3 of local employed in foreign firm are foreigners converted citizen not citizen. These new citizen will later be motivated to vote for ruling party. If there are so many improvement, why is there so many graduate driving grab and joining security guard? Really good with playing around with words. There is a difference between resident and Singaporean. Both are not the same. Every time he mentions that the number of residents in PMET jobs have gone up, it includes foreigners as well, anyone that stays and works in Singapore for more than 6 months is considered a resident. So, how many of the "increase in number of residents in PMET" are actually Singaporeans? Be direct and tell how many Singaporeans instead of hiding behind the term residents.
Tan See Leng claims "residents" employment rate has increase, but the increase is merely due to changing of residence/immigration status like Work pass holders taking PR or PR taking citizenship There is not much job growth for "natives" Singaporeans
TSL seems to be living in his ivory tower and please stop being so ignorant and disillusioned. It's crazy how many foreigners have been granted PRs in recent years. Give us the statistics how many PRs and foreigners vs Singapore citizens have been employed. And mind you many of these PRs are holding high paying jobs that local Singaporeans can hold but have been displaced by all these so called foreign talents.

I dunno why ppl still wan to vote for the pap.yes they had done Singapore good n rebuilt Singapore but that was the past pap.now they only behave high n like we own them.these pap minsters r proud!dun deserved millions $ in pay n they say that we underpay them.
The voting process was surreptitiously changed in I reckon the late 1980s (李光耀) to the Group Representation Constituency (GRC) - ballots which were previously all consolidated in a huge, single ballot box were now subdivided as per the GRC. The government ∴ knows PRECINCT BY PRECINCT how people vote - those electoral wards which have a tenancy to vote for the opposition end up getting reorganised as per the GRC electoral scheme to be matched with those that predominately vote for the People’s Action Party (PAP). Furthermore, the costs on establishing a political platform in Singapore are astronomical & terrifyingly risky - especially considering the recent history of (suspected) dissent (e.g. 1987’s 光譜行動). The government sectors (i.e. the civil service statutory boards) are ∴ de-facto PAP organisations. You furthermore I am sure know HDB (Housing & Development Board) public housing wards which voted for the opposition were even brazenly denied infrastructural upgrading (吳作棟). In addition, the Elections Department is not even an independent organisation - it comes directly under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The HDB public housing scheme is I would reckon the bedrock of the People’s Action Party’s (PAP’s) extraordinary longevity complemented with the ease of consolidating & controlling as well as governing & managing an (independent) city-state. The oldest flats are however over a half century old & a ticking time bomb & will generally be worth nothing considering the 99-year lease - unless one happens to be exceptionally fortunate enough to be residing in a Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS) apartment block. In addition, speaking of “home ownership”, I am sure you know the HDB ultimately owns the flat - i.e. their occupants are NOT strata owners a.k.a. subsidiary proprietors. The perfidy of institutionalised racism as well as its ramifications must ∴ be evoked, especially vis-à-vis the public housing quotas as well as immigration (permanent residency [PR]). In the meantime, I am sure you know the (foreign) influx of “new citizens” from dodgy permanent residents (PRs) to ostensibly make up for birth rate shortfall is the ruling regime’s “vote bank” vis-à-vis what I mentioned earlier. The “new citizens” are after all of voting age (adults) the moment they become Singapore citizens & will ∴ perpetrate the PAP regime’s longevity by (generally) voting for the PAP. In addition, the “new citizens” were (generally) never subjected to years of full-time conscription (NSF) as well as lifelong reservist liability (NSmen).
Give stats for Singaporeans and non Singaporeans. Don't lump us together as residents. All residents work in Singapore but not all residents are Singaporeans.

While debates in Parliament highlight key issues, let’s take action where we can-by supporting local Singaporean businesses! 🇸🇬💼 Backing our homegrown brands helps create jobs and opportunities for fellow Singaporeans, building a stronger community for everyone. Who’s with me? 🙌✨
See Leng, i totally agree with you. Foreigners create jobs for Singaporeans. Look at the Chinese National, they really create jobs for the police departments, court judges, prison wardens. Thank you so much!
Black want to say until white. Local PMET income really risen so much until so many chose to drive Grab or do Grabfood delivery after completing their tertiary education.
I don't see much improvement in the job situation for Singaporean. I know it is a tough decision and not easy to do a balance job BUT I don't trust that you are doing the right thing. Next election I will not vote for PAP.
MOM has been too complacent and enjoying "free money" from workers and maids levies. We need foresighted leaders and planning for Singaporeans future employment opportunities. Collecting huge amounts of levies is not the main job of MOM. Complacency and pushing up costs of business at expense and overpricing the nation. There seems to no manpower planning right from the schools to polytechnics to universities to the marketplace.

This is very good for the people of Singapore. Minister Tan raises to the debate albeit a little protective, Mr Leong Mun Wai bravely championing the labour cause for Singaporeans. This is a healthy parliament, work gets done, voices are heard. Mr Leong has proven himself tremendously though. MVP of the parliament in my opinion.
600 EP applications were rejected / withdrawn over the PAST 5 YEARS. You make it sound like a very "gigantic"number like that. 600 withdrawn / rejected over 5 years, but how many thousands upon thousands went through then? How many times you have lied and screwed Singaporeans over?
yes good question. why we need a foreigner with 3rd world foreign university background and surpass our local ppl with world leading universities. MOM should know this. is this a fair regulation?
No indication that underemployment is increasing? Does MOM even know how many Singapoeean are underemployed? Please provide ua the figures Nevertheless, you should give TSL an Oscar for his speech.
Mr Long asked a very clear and good question. Speaker shdnt interfere. Mom better wake up or citizens will lose more core positions in critical industries. Many citizen are not rightfully employed. I see too many youngsters holding positions lesser than their parents, even tho they are much more educated n trained. Mind you the latter's are not ministers, CEOs and they don't stay in Gcb or landed properties. They are average PMTs like engineers n accountants etc and stayed in HDB. 🤔
We also need a calibrated position(meaning the ruling party) that would work well for citizen. There is no robust check and balance in parliament, more opposition needs to be voted in to calibrate the position.

Tan See Leng claims "residents" employment rate has increase, but the increase is merely due to changing of residence/immigration status like Work pass holders taking PR or PR taking citizenship
There is not much job growth for "natives" Singaporeans
They like to say "residence" they play around with words. They make blurr the lines between Singaporeans and PRs.
Speak with fork tongue is a trait they pick up somewhere in their world
The real question is: How long will you people accept the blatant gaslighting by these servants who behave like masters?
Residents???? Who are they???? Where are we citizens????
Speaker is biase seems he belong to PAP. Vote him out also
TSL seems to be living in his ivory tower and please stop being so ignorant and disillusioned.
Tsl is saying bs. You look at the PR over here. Are they contributing to our local economy or are they sending monies back home?
What’s going on with the Speaker? His behaviour and biased attitude are terrible!! Why is he interrupting, allowing interruptions, and undermining LMW’s questions? He is entitled to raise questions! Oh and the minister can respond to however minutes and hours he wishes! 😡
This guy is not what the PAP portrait his as. He is not even able to shield himself. As, he try very hard to do.
Taiwan company shifted their operation to Malaysia and few Singaporean were offered to work in Malaysia to help start up, their pay Sing 2500. When the Malaysian workers came to know, they protested en mass and protested. Because they are paid ringgit MY2500In the end, the company forced the Singaporean pay to ringgit MR2500. Singaporean had to feed their families back in Singapore. Careful of SEZ.
Human selfishness
Yes, when working in Malaysia, LEGAL wages must be in MYR.
@@8August1988 they go there to help out to get the factory running, and they need to feed their families back in Singapore dude. You feed your families in Singapore la..
@@8August1988 and you are cheap, that is why SEZ dude
@@koklong69: This is THE significant reason why it is NEVER worth for Singaporeans to take up salary - i.e. wage - employment in Malaysia, regardless of their occupation & profession as well as how much they get paid in MYR.
I dunno why ppl still wan to vote for the pap.yes they had done Singapore good n rebuilt Singapore but that was the past pap.now they only behave high n like we own them.these pap minsters r proud!dun deserved millions $ in pay n they say that we underpay them.
Its not the same Party its used to be Under LYY with its moto being " Singapore and Singaporeans 1st" this is just too obvious!
In addition, the “new citizens” were (generally) never subjected to years of full-time conscription (NSF) as well as lifelong reservist liability (NSmen).
oh my goodness, Singapore is really gone. No hope.
TSL should QUIT POLITICS.
Give stats for Singaporeans and non Singaporeans. Don't lump us together as residents. All residents work in Singapore but not all residents are Singaporeans.
Keep up Mr. Leong
I just don’t understand why the speaker seems to be fond of cutting off Mr Leong once too often when he is midway in his speech. Many of my friends noticed this too. Mr Leong is not talking nonsense. Let’s hear his full presentation without any interruptions.
While debates in Parliament highlight key issues, let’s take action where we can-by supporting local Singaporean businesses! 🇸🇬💼 Backing our homegrown brands helps create jobs and opportunities for fellow Singaporeans, building a stronger community for everyone. Who’s with me? 🙌✨
Yes.
Correct

i vote you if you cotest in this GE
The whole group pap just going downward.
Vote for your right and stay safe.
See Leng, i totally agree with you. Foreigners create jobs for Singaporeans. Look at the Chinese National, they really create jobs for the police departments, court judges, prison wardens. Thank you so much!
Let’s define what is called “Resident “ workforce
Means Singapore passport holders and PRs
Minister dont go around the bushes. PR should not be classified as local residents. Numbers dont lie but human hide numbers and human lie
Uncle Tan
PLEASE RESIGN NOW !!!
CLUELESS
REDUNDANCY
OBSOLETE
Just another
⚽️⚽️ CARRIER 💯
so give trg to locals while giving high paying jobs to non-citizens😂😂?
Black want to say until white. Local PMET income really risen so much until so many chose to drive Grab or do Grabfood delivery after completing their tertiary education.
Next GE we will call out your BS.
We will VOTE YOU OUT!
I don't see much improvement in the job situation for Singaporean. I know it is a tough decision and not easy to do a balance job BUT I don't trust that you are doing the right thing. Next election I will not vote for PAP.
I have been voting PAP for the past 5 times. This time i will not vote PAP again
Speaker supposed to be neutral?
Tan cannot answer the underemployment question because he has no answer.
Disaster if liars believed in their own lies.
Suggest that the speaker is biased at times toward the opposition.😮
Wah, does someone have the habit of Sueing people?
But foreigners hire their entire village leh.. how da dey ?? 😂
Tan see leng, continue like tis,
U'll b axed or ur sons n daughters will be affected by ur own policies...
I regret not voting LMW in the last election. I’m sorry.
TSL he don't read his email. His PA read the incoming emails and this discarded them.its a SHAME as MOM Minister. I wrote to him he did not read my emails. Vote him out. Singaporeans take note that u are jobless is bcos of him.vto
MVP of the parliament in my opinion.
makes you think where are those NTUC union MPs are doing
will a millionaire who can afford a 27 million GCB able to defend for our struggling Singaporean's????😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
This guy is very arrogant......sia
Out you go next GE in 25!....please.
If they wan high pay check,go to private firm.dun say wan serve Singapore singaporean and wan millions of $!!!and now they become so so arrogant!!!!
Not steady. BUAY ZAI. DEFENSIVE. All bad signs
Vote him out high salary earn enought talk so much job give ft, and pr singaporean lost job still inside palarment argue pap old man
Now the tact has changed. Our money is used to help neighbour create many jobs there because there is abundant of cheap land and labour.
600 EP applications were rejected / withdrawn over the PAST 5 YEARS.
You make it sound like a very "gigantic"number like that.
600 withdrawn / rejected over 5 years, but how many thousands upon thousands went through then?
How many times you have lied and screwed Singaporeans over?
in average only 120 EP applications are rejected per year in past 5 years
@marktan9814 Provided that is even the genuine correct figure in the first place.
Look at a larger company, what is the proposition of employing locals?
MOM had fail the citizens
Too Bad, Our Minister too defensive, he only replied n defending without Really LISTENING!
To study under employment, just obtain data from Grab. Most I am sure that high proportion of food delivery and PHV drivers are underemployed.
Why singapore bank was headed by CEO from CECA country whom graduated from their local university yet our graduates from NUS and NTU were sidelined?
yes good question. why we need a foreigner with 3rd world foreign university background and surpass our local ppl with world leading universities. MOM should know this. is this a fair regulation?
No indication that underemployment is increasing? Does MOM even know how many Singapoeean are underemployed? Please provide ua the figures Nevertheless, you should give TSL an Oscar for his speech.
They treat Singaporeans in such a manner so why need to protect country for still💀
Mr Long asked a very clear and good question.
Income growth? LJ lah. Everything in sg so expensive especially housing. Growth is something tangible for foreigners working here, send money back to their home countries
