    Total novice... I HATE cigarettes, and don't care for "flavored" cigars, but occasionally I pass by a cigar smoker and like the aroma... I love the smell of burning Oak leaves, White Sage, etc. Apart from strength, time, etc. considerations... What type of cigar might I enjoy with respect to "flavor" or aroma? I'm just asking for suggestions to try...

    Funny how "ligero" means "light" in Spanish.

    • @gentslounge
      @gentslounge  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe because it gets the most light?

    • @foxinthebox9903
      @foxinthebox9903 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gentslounge No, pal. Actually it is in the "easy, gentle, not heavy" sense of the word. "Light" as "illumination" is "luz" (lat. lux). I don't know the exact reason for the name of the leaf yet. I can only guess it's got to do with its exposition to the wind at the same time as to the sun.

    • @jeradblazek677
      @jeradblazek677 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@foxinthebox9903 I see it's been a couple years since you commented on this, so you've probably already did your own research.
      "Ligero" in cigars refers to the portion of the plant that that these particular leaves come from. They are the top couple of leaves off the tobacco plant. They are much smaller than the lower leaves, and take the longest to mature. Which in turn means they have a sort of value because of scarcity of product.
      With that though, they often have more flavor and boldness than the Viso and Seco leaves. Which is why a "double ligero" will taste more bold than a "single ligero".
      Because of this type of scarcity in product from a single plant, Jonathan Drew of Drew Estates had to limit his workers to smoking no more than 2 Liga Privada per shift because they were decimating the production store of the needed ligero leaf for the Privada.
