Should this parliamentary delivery be perceived as a lie then? Did this guy just lie to 6million Singaporeans? Shouldn't a prosecutor go after him if he doesn't apologise for withholding pertinent information?
What's the point of having this minister parrot NTUC's words? Zero confidence in a 4G government that cannot seperate party interest and country interests...
On Jul 17, Allianz said it planned to acquire 51 per cent of Income at S$40.58 per share, in a deal valued at 1.5 billion euros (S$2.2 billion). So if NTUC enterprise sells these shares, WHERE DO THE 1.5 BILLION EUROS GO TO? Answer this. Is the money going back to minority shareholders? Where?
Alvin Tan got alot of explanation to do. From how I understand this situation he don't seem to have Singaporean interest at heart and isn't the custodian of Singapore.
1) why are we not retaining at least 51%? If we are only holding 49%, then it makes no difference whether we are holding 20%, 30%, isn't it? we, Singaporeans don't the final say anyway. 2) as you have said, insurance is a long term commitment, it takes a long time to prove & test the managements' values. Then, the more Singaporeans must have the final say. 3) Allianz, is running a business. To Singaporeans, NUTC income is our very own which will put our own people's interest 1st. Put it this way, i believe many Singaporeans bought their policy from NTUC income, just plainly because it is govt 'aided'. 4) To Singaporeans, NTUC income is not just a business. There are emotive elements attached. Do we use business sense to elect our govt? What values are we imparting to our own people? 5) Finally, is there really an urgency to push this plan forward now?
This guy says a lot but says nothing. He is not even addressing the point. HOW WILL ALLIANZ CONTINUE TO PLAY A SOCIAL MISSION??? What capital adequacy??? Ntuc was not established as a commercial enterprise with profit maximisation as its objective!!!

If we have to worry about the viability of NTUC Income with the backing of the SG Govt, is this Min saying that we have to worry about the viability of the long term backing of the SG Govt? Our financial resources are guarded as a matter of national security. If we are now possibly considering the viability of the backing of the SG Govt, and have no visibility on the actual viability of our financial resources, how are we to assess if this is a good decision?
