No, that would've made her powerful in the eyes of the mobsters. They probably would've expected Tony to step up take the rap & go to jail. Now if Tony would've done that is the real question 🤔????

@@ReverendSam1 fuck no he wouldn’t. Tony was the most selfish character at the end, as we see greatly from the last episodes.

Knowing how everyone in that family acts (junior, Livia, Tony, Janice) there is absolutely no doubt in mind that Livia would have went to trial against her son… I mean she did knowingly try to get him whacked 😂

I don't know, they seem to be OK with assassination attempts or just directly killing each other, but not talking to the law.

@@TheMisterGuy initially I was gonna say you make a good point but after further thinking about it… the sopranos proves over and over that everyone in that life is out for themselves and themselves only… Tony gave tips to the police, there’s a theory that Tony’s dad was an informant
The only one that didn’t talk(that I can think of) is junior… and even then he took the charges on the chin not because of his loyalty but because he was proud and envious of the Boss title. He was an old old man with no kids or real family other then Tony. He was also completely reliant on Tony and his crew for income during his trial and therefore couldn’t have snitched if he wanted to.
There’s no doubt in my mind Livia would have done everything in her power to mess with Tony because she was angry at Tony for putting her in a nursing home and whether she needed to be put in one or not doesn’t matter… Once a narcissist views you as an enemy and has reason in their own mind to be vengeful and vindictive GOOD LUCK. She would have drug Tony down to the depths of hell if she could have.

@@loganerb3952 "initially I was gonna say you make a good point but after further thinking about it… the sopranos proves over and over that everyone in that life is out for themselves and themselves only"
The Sopranos is a show about people who are psychopaths, sociopaths, narcissists, etc. Just because the characters on the show are almost all that way doesn't prove that it's like that in real life. And even on the show, there are characters who aren't. They're just not major characters because that's not what the show is about.
"The only one that didn’t talk(that I can think of) is junior…"
What about Phil? I heard he was in for something like twenty months, not a peep. Or Feech, even when he got sent back. All those characters who got released after season one were in there for ten or twenty years and kept their mouths shut.
"She would have drug Tony down to the depths of hell if she could have."
She kind of did, don't you think?

Livia's ability to hide her cunning behind a facade of vacuous foolishness was on another level. Nancy Marchand did a phenomenonal job. Compare it to the character Pycelle, from Game of Thrones, which was so on the nose.

I never could understand why Livia would want to take her own son down. First, she let it slip that Tony was the one who burned down Artie's restaurant, which almost got him killed. Then, she pretty much set him with Junior which came really close to getting him killed, and who knows what else she what have done if she had lived. But the whole time I'm like, why?

Livia is the older version of Carmela, we saw a glimpse of what she was to become. Remember how Livia said no one cared for her & how Carmela was trying to hold on to her growing children 🤔, she would eventually start adapting Livia's talking points.....just like AJ!!!!!

@@michaelfetter5413 I said Carmela is going to turn into what Livia was in her older age. Remember Livia saying"I gave my life to my children"🤔, & u saw Carmela have nothing but her children who were turning into young adults. Remember Tony saying let's have another baby. She was going to b alone & her children were going to b living their own lives........she knew Tony wouldn't b around!
