As a Houston fan since the start I think one thing they have that some orgs haven't had are super likeable rosters, even when they were losing I still enjoyed tuning in because of players like Jake, Danteh, Rawkus even, Piggy, and of course Pelican in recent years. I still wouldn't rank them higher than like 11 or 10, but think having key figures in an org that make people attached to your org is pretty important too
Marketability has nothing to do with performance
@@baseebirdbut it does have to do with how the org looks and performs well with fans. He said "winning is not everything" in this list. "What kind of experience did you give your fans in general" was his criteria. Having staple and likeable players on a roster is very much something fans are drawn to and keeps people engaged. That's why I brought it up

Crazy how London has more playoff wins the last 2 years which is 3 than Gladiators had with there super teams in 2021 and 2022 2.

spitfire has to be one of the saddest franchises in owl history lol. Win the first ever owl but then devolve into being a pain to watch. To ABANDON your home and switch regions has to be one of the worst things an owl franchise could do. At least london never bought their way to glory which is something I really respect.

TD deserves some cred for always being invested in the League, at least on an org side. I never liked their teams but they always tried.

I know this isnt what this list is about really, but the hunters was one of my favourite orgs simply because they always played different than the other teams, it was just simply entertaining. Sometimes painful, often just a lot of fun to watch. They won my heart in the Among Ball era. It was so cool to watch.
As a Fuel fan who stuck from the beginning until the end, the massive improvement truly was satisfying, like no words can describe. Not to mention having overall better achievements/legacy than the Outlaws... watching them ruin their brand after the league ended was funny as hell too. I'm really glad I chose the right team 6 years ago.
??? dallas would literally be houston if they didnt just pull out the credit card and buy a paris eternal which had a very good season. Lets also dont talk about branding, because "dallas" played in APAC, that sounds like a sellout to me. Sad thing is that most people will remember dallas as the "xqc" team rather than the grand finals u guys won lmao.
as an NYXL fan that eventually stopped really following the franchise, I'm surprised they made it to the top 10 after how horrid their recent seasons were in terms of management
Still tho they had 3 great seasons where they finished top 5 in the playoffs and won 2 stages in that timespan they were very dominate at times during that span too

2020 could of been the year to win a stage and a championship up 3-0 in the may melee final, and they made an insane run to the grand final that no one expected which is by far my favorite dynasty memory ever

I took most of this gracefully, but there is NO WAY Philly/Infernal and McMayhem are above NYXL! No one is more pained than me when I say that NYXL fell short, but as a franchise NYXL out classes both of them. The rest above them, fair enough.

The hunters are the only team to have 2 hybrid teams in one season in the spark and charge(I could be wrong please correct me if so)
I think I'd put outlaws over dynasty, dynasty's one win was a mickey mouse tournament in a mickey mouse region. If 2023 had more tournaments I'd bet outlaws probably could've won one at least.
Outlaws has way lower lows as a franchise tho the first 3 years they were a joke, Dynasty had 1 season below 500 both made 1 grand final, but Dynasty has made 3 stage finals to Outlaws 1 it’s close yeah, but Outlaws were only better during s1 slightly and this year obviously
Spark is actually the second most winningest team across all seasons when normalised for number of teams in the league it’s crazy

You are bonkers for putting LEAGUE CHAMPIONS Florida Mayhem below the GLADIATORS. This season they fumbled so bad. They never won a GF. They had their fair share of just ok teams. I mean this is crazy. Florida WON the league. I mean what????

Florida also was a bottom 5 team for like what... 3 years? Or something. That is worth being knocked off a bit. Glads only had 1 truly bad season, this last year, so I think it's somewhat fair. I think it's tough cause Glads are super consistent, but never won a championship, Florida won 1 championship, no tournaments and had a horrible few years. Like they nearly did as bad as the Dragons season 1.
Mahyem were bottom 2 for the first 2 seasons, very bad in season 4 and not a top 5 team in season 3 and 5. If anything they are too high on this ranking
i dont think its fair to put toronto that low. Just because they cant win doesnt mean they are a bad org. They've set up a lot of their former players for success a lot of times, and apart from some instances with very poor coaching staff segretating players i think theyre a much more respectable org than the other orgs mentioned in 16-20.

I think Fuel is better than Dragons ONLY because the first season, sooo embarrising and is, maybe, the first or second thing that came to my mind when you said Shanghai Dragons, but i'm proud that Dallas can be on top 3

I mean true. But Dallas ALSO was horrible. If you remember. They finished only a little above Dragons season 1. And Fuel stayed bad for far longer than the Dragons. After season 1, Dragons won a tournament near every year they competed until 2023. I think it's hard to say the Fuel are better all time just because it took them 3 years and a complete overhaul to get going
Reign should be ahead of Gladiators same amount of consistent tournament results, both have a mid season title and Reign beat Gladiators in the 2021 playoffs to make that grand final while Gladiators have been nowhere near one despite many stacked rosters, also Glads have lower lows while Reign hasn’t missed a playoff.

@@SamuelAubMor Reign has made a grand final and has gotten top 3 or better in way more tournament than Glads, in cc when Glads won its Mickey Mouse no Shanghai, Dallas and Pelican had a collapsed lung when it was even between reign and glads that year it was 3-1 reign they beat them the next month
@@baseebird direct confrontations don't matter, do you want me to bring up everytime Glads won vs Reign ? Glads won 3 tournaments, it doesn't matter how "mickey mouse" it was. They rank higher than Reign in most regular seasons as well
@@SamuelAubMorI understand that they won 3 tournaments they still never lived up there potential once in the playoffs which matters while Reign has, they both won a global mid season tournament and Reign did it without dropping a match the whole first half
You can’t say gladiators won three tournaments without acknowledging that in Atlanta best season there were only two tournaments. If there were stage tournaments Atlanta would’ve won stage one and midseason 100%. That’s already two. Makes your argument seem a little silly considering reign have been a better team on average

Really hoping London is above average! I don’t care if they had a 1-15 season (which imo could’ve been 3-13) but please rate them high! They won a championship and the last 2 years they’ve proven everyone but London fans that they can do anything!

glads above florida when Florida had the most dominant second half of a season ever (8-0 in the stage and only dropping 1 map in post season + MVP and COTY) feels a bit wrong to me, especially since Glads didnt have a single year where they played up to expectations for more than half a season, but I'll admit im biased
Glads are easily the most disappointing playoff team of all time they have NEVER gotten above 5/6 in 6 years and no one talks about how disappointing that is they had rosters with Shu, Kevster, Skewed, Reiner, Happy, and In 2019 with Decay, Void and they never live up there potential outside of tournaments before playoffs
Florida had a really good season 6 but didnt really do anything seasons 1-5 and Gladiators have been one of the most consistent teams always being ok-good but florida is very closely ranked
@@Lukegames15 yeah consistency wise glads clear, but Fl lived up to there potential this year which is something Glads never did with so many stacked teams so it depends on what you value
Maybe glads didnt win any grand finals, but mayhem is just an underdog team, not a big one. Gladiators also played many of the best owl matches of all time. Mayhem just peaked at the objectively worst season of OWL, and while there is merit in that, its just not it.
@@baseebird If we take into consideration titles, players and moments then the gladiators are arguably top 3. Mayhem is a good team, but for most of its lifespan it was a joke. If they won a season that actually had hype behind it then, yes they would be a big team. In the other hand, glads provided with tons of iconic regular season and tournament matches, and had many teams that played the most entretaining overwatch of the league at the time. I think glads are clear, but only because mayhem are running from so far behind, if a few more seasons were able to happen then mayhem would likely be a giant of owl

I’m sorry but there is no logic for London being above Glads. Glads have more Tournament wins, better win percentage and London had two abysmal seasons. Plus I think people forget that if it wasn’t for the awful season one playoff format then Glads would have knocked London out

Thats just recency bias. London did better than Glads in playoffs the last few years with a worse budget and florida was dogwater for the first 2 years and not much better than london in season 4. Florida does have a title, but so does london. London also has a stage win, of which glads have 2 (the mickey mouse one without dragons and fuel doesn't count) and florida 0, but glads never won gf or even made it there to begin with. London was trash for 2 years, but mayhem was trash for 3 and glads never peaked as high. I'd say the list is accurate.

I'm sure you put alot of effort into this video but i'm not going past #20. Definait were bottom teir once mid to low 3 times and decent 1 time. Ranking them in 20th palace makes me think this video isn't worth my time.
So, his reasoning was sound though. They arguably made their fans go through worse than some of the other orgs.. they never really had ANY high highs, like at least teams like Charge did win once, and teams like Hunters also made it far in tournaments and were more relevant for other reasons.. Like it or not Defiant were not really all too relevant at all since they came into the league, not to mention the roster switching constantly, and even when it looked like they were going to make the playoffs, they ended up choking in the end. In an unbiased opinion, can you truly say that they would be ahead of too many other teams? Maybe they aren't dead last, but I think they are in that bottom tier no matter what.
Defiants never did anything noteworthy in 5 years of being in he league. They never even made a final, let alone win one and they have some of the lowest peak performances ever seen. They deserve to be at least bottom 3 if not outright last.
@@CrazeeAdam I can agree bottom tier for sure. But other teams fit the bottom better. The justice's best year was also defiant's best year and the defiant did better.

I think you overrated the titans. they only got any success by wholesale signing the best contenders team in history, and they immediately destroyed this god-given success through mismanagement and failure
Big Disagrees:
London - London's big thing is season 1 and winning the Grand Finals which should put them somewhat up there with the successful orgs at least, however they were irrelevant or bad every season since then basically. They have no accomplishments to speak for aside from making playoffs a few times. The org fell off a cliff after season one and I think I'd drop them closer to an NYXL or Hangzhou depending how much you value the one GF win.
Atlanta - Atlanta always seemed to have very high expectations given to them by the fans which whether it was deserved or not reflected on how people would view the season for them. It feels like they would always find a way to disappoint when it came down to it and outside of assembling the avengers this final season they would've gone winless. Even then they ended up disappointing in the playoffs in the fashion that they were dispatched. It just feels hard to rate a team that had so little success over the years and constant shortcomings.
Small Disagrees:
Shock/Dragons - I think the consistency of success is a big reason I have the dragons above the shock all time. The shock did win 2 GF, but the dragons won so many tournaments over the course of the OWL and they were even able to grab 1 GF themselves. On top of all of that even when going 0-40 where most teams would be hated and there would be calls for people to lose their jobs they never lost the people, they remained a crowd favorite through thick and thin which very few teams can say they've done. (Only other example I can think of in owl was the Titans and their bread sticks 🍞).
Hunters - I think I'd just swap Hunters and Boston, both saw minimal success in terms of winning anything, but both also had highs where they were competing with the best of the best. All I can say is that at least one of these orgs made it to the final season.
Charge - I miss when it wasn't painful to watch this team, give me 2020 Charge back.
So London was not bad or irrelevant the past two years of the league. They literally knocked out the super star team of Atlanta last playoffs. Teams were SCARED of them honestly and they showed why. They did have really 2 bad years of rebuilding in 2020 and 2021 though. 2019 wasn't even that bad, it was just Goats and London was never going to thrive in that meta with having to put Profit on Brig and Birdring on Zarya etc.
If you talk about consistency about shock/Dragons you should mention that Shock has the most wins in general and the highest winning percentage ever and fewest loss from a team of 2018, Shock definitely has better consistency, Dragons only have more tournaments won and also in a weaker region.
Not to mention, they were the only team to go to playoffs more than 2 times.
So your consistency argument isn't really valid, seems more like favourism which is also fair

Your points are fair except when it comes to London, you're high on some shit there. London ended top 5/6 in the playoffs the last 2 years and both years they comfortably upset a great team to do so, along with beating all the middle teams consistently. In 2019 they still finished top 7 regular season with some 6-1 stages and made the playoffs by beating the most recent tourney winners (dragons) to get there. On top of that they won season 1 grand finals and also stage 1.
They have the playoff performance, coming back from covid/rebuild years, the stage title, the gf win and some big upsets. 2020 and 2021 sucked for sure, but most teams had years that sucked. Florida was trash for most of the league and glads never won anything to begin with.
It seems crazy, but you can't really argue they should be any lower than they are on this list.

Fusion had no bad season, zero drama and a lot of honorable acts (like building a contenders game for eu players in 2021), Spark had no trash year and always were a threat for everyone and Reign is one of the most consistent teams of the owl. Very bad ranking here imo, sorry
I think he just counted the win too strongly. I get it, like a win does count for a lot. But I do think because Mayhem suffered three really bad seasons, they should have been kicked even lower a bit, not too low, because like they did win, and against arguably the hardest competition ever, but yeah.
@@CrazeeAdam bro, who tf watched season 2023 grand finals? all the hype went away for season 6. before the start of the season seeing all that was happening just told me the league was dead and it wasnt worth to waste my time.

Hard disagree on mayhem and spitfire should be lower as well as Vancouver. Too many people rate the beginning seasons too much because they played so much IMO, competition is later years has improved significantly to the point where season 1 players could arguably not compete . London was irrelevant for 33% of the overwatch league and Vancouver could be argued the same
Most teams were irrelevant for 33% of the league or more. At least london has a stage title, a grand final win and good playoff performances with bad budgets. Everybody besides dragons/shock had multiple terrible seasons (maybe spark but they never won anything).
