      In fact, I really count only the main diameters, such as stays, shrouds, and I take the rest by eye, since no one will notice a difference in diameter of 0,05 mm on a scale (+ based on the fact that my smallest diameter of ropes is 0,18 mm - I sometimes level some dimensions so that it looks harmonious on the model)

Una pregunta, en este vídeo salen los cálculos de grosores de cabos. • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Literalmente, acabo de publicar 4 volúmenes de David Steele que describen los cálculos del grosor de la cuerda. Creé mi propia tabla, ajustándola al tamaño de mi cable (porque el cable más pequeño que puedo hacer es de 0,22 mm). Habiendo así calculado el tirante más grueso del palo mayor (el cálculo se hace a partir del diámetro del palo mayor) - obtengo automáticamente todos los tamaños de las cuerdas...

    I was wondering why some of the shroud lines were seized all the way down and others not? How do you know how much you need to seize if you don't do all of the line? The calculations you were doing, that was mast diameters and rope scaling? As always I appreciate your videos and help!

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Worming and Serving (I am doing only a serving since the worming is not visible under it) is done where the sail will rub against the cables. So the first shroud is fully served, and the rest depends on the craftsman who built the ship... I have my own calculation scheme - so-called "lazy" if I can't identify the ship for David Steele's tables. This is the percentage of all rigging to the main-stay...

    Thanks for your excellent work. How do you calculate the rope diameters? Is there a chart or something?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on how historically accurate you want to recreate it! The most reliable information is in Steel's books (volume 3). And to facilitate brain work, all model forums have online calculators. Where the main stay is calculated from the diameter of the mast, or the length and width of the deck. And then you automatically get the rest of the rigging as a percentage...
      I have my own excel table that I adjusted for my ropewalk...
      I can't post a link because youtube will block the comment. But you can use google search: "rigging calculator for ship model". I definitely saw it on modelshipworld(dot)com

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a conditional formula that depends on the diameter of the main mast and its stay - the rest is a percentage ratio. This is the simplest calculation scheme, but it is not always accurate! But it is good if there is no other source of information...
