      Incorrect. He was exactly in his right to tell his story, because he was asked. And it was good for him to tell it, so people can be compassionate. You'd rather him keep everything closed in, that's how people become suicidal and why the modern world is so shitty in general.

    for those that don’t know - lamictal is commonly used to treat bipolar 1. she probably was having a manic episode, which usually comes along with hallucinations (auditory and/or visual) and impulsive/reckless behavior. funnily enough, lamictal is also one of the few bipolar drugs where if you are allergic to it, it could cause you to develop an illness that kills you in a matter of weeks.

    • @lizzyblitz07
      @lizzyblitz07 ปีที่แล้ว +182

      Before lamictal I knew she was (almost definitely) bipolar. Source: am bipolar. Haha. Fun note lamictal is also a seizure drug. Bipolar and epilepsy are not caused by the same thing exactly but both have episodes with similar irregular brainwave activity. On that note, the keto diet was made for epileptic children and is actually not a diet meant for almost anyone other than that. But there is some research going into if bipolar folks can benefit from it as well. All random info but I find it fascinating and very hopeful that researchers are starting to look at mental illnesses with physical causes more and more like other illnesses. It's also being discovered that manic episodes cause brain damage or at least changes over time. Crazy fascinating stuff. But also, take your damn meds!

    • @alnibodycare
      @alnibodycare ปีที่แล้ว +58

      Yep I was prescribed it as an anti seizure medication. And not only did it cause me to get cystic acne but it poisoned me. They put me on too high of a dose. I shouldn’t have been on it at all. Maybe I was allergic. I was at college and had to leave class because I was seeing double and the room was spinning. I have no idea how I made it back to my dorm. When I got back I threw up violently and had to go to the ER. They said it was medication poisoning and took me off immediately. It was a non epileptic seizure anyways. From stress. Now I’m scared I didn’t know if you’re allergic you can die. I could’ve died.

    • @alnibodycare
      @alnibodycare ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@lizzyblitz07I got prescribed it after I had a seizure!!!!! And I didn’t need it. It poisoned me. Lamictal is awful.

    • @lizzyblitz07
      @lizzyblitz07 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alnibodycare I'm so sorry you had such a terrible experience. Lamictal is the most important medicine I take. It's not an awful medicine. HOWEVER any doctor worth their weight in dirt (really truly) will start you on a low dose AND warn you to look out for certain symptoms. It can be incredibly dangerous, as you found out. Every psych I've seen has reminded me to watch out for rashes and seek immediate attention if I notice the kind of rash lamictal causes, and call them after being seen. I encourage you to share your experience as a warning to start low and be careful. I hope you don't scare people from trying it though, because I know many people who wouldn't have reached stability without it.
      I've had terrible reactions before and can put myself in your shoes. I know what you went through was awful and I'm sorry you are continuing to have effects from it. Shame on whatever doctor you were seeing. There's a test to find what medicines you'd likely have reactions to vs what could probably work. I haven't taken it but I know people it has helped. It should be standard practice because of stuff like this. I can totally see why you hate it. I'm glad you sought emergency medical attention and they got you sorted, but ik the trauma stays with you.
      I wish you the best and hope your psychogenic seizures get better if they haven't already. Same goes for the cystic acne.

    As soon as I heard “stopped taking her meds” and “moved to California to become a spiritualist”, I thought bipolar. Once he said lamictal, I knew it! If it helped her, then she probably has bipolar. It’s a mood stabilizer (my favorite one) used to treat depression in bipolar. It’s helped me with my bipolar, so im not as depressed and it helps with keeping my highs and lows balanced. I hope she’s doing okay. It’s rough when you go through a mental break. I’m definitely stealing that line about “different realities “

    As someone with epilepsy, this was definitely sad and relatable but also hilarious. You know someone’s funny when they can get away with making seizure jokes when they don’t have seizures 😂Damn I had even more questions though! Lamictal (the med the first guy’s ex was taking) is an anticonvulsant so I wonder if if she also had epilepsy (seizures can really mess up your mind but never heard of them making people believe they are living in different realities) - or just bipolar (which it’s also used for sometimes). Maybe the first guy knew the second guy through his ex gf? crazy! At least Gianmarco got an extra $20 for his labor 😂

    • @INTJenny
      @INTJenny ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Worst psychological side effect for seizures would be loss of consciousness/memory or depression (mostly from meds or diagnosis). At least my seizures never made me want to be a spiritual medium or whatever 😂😂

    • @Loj84
      @Loj84 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If the guy is describing her condition accurately, she definitely had bipolar I. That kind of behavior is pretty common in the manic episodes bipolar I causes, and lamotrigine is a commonly prescribed medication for it.
      She may also have epilepsy (epilepsy and bipolar are pretty strongly linked), but epilepsy most likely has nothing to do with what she was experiencing here.

    • @Loj84
      @Loj84 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Congrats on remission! I'm not trying to do some armchair psychologist BS here, but if those depressive cycles are still a problem, you may want to get an evaluation for bipolar disorder if you've never had one. BD and epilepsy are pretty strongly linked. The same anticonvulsants you would take for epilepsy also treat bipolar disorder, but they don't completely eliminate symptoms. So if your depressive cycles have still occurred over these last two years but have been milder, I would heavily recommend talking to a psychiatrist about it.

    When he was talking about seizures and depression I was like okay bit of a downer and then he got to the three deaths in his fiance's family and I just started laughing again I feel bad now there was no joke It was just too much

    "Back To Normal For Now" would be a good title for your next special.

    Crazy how much of this relates to me. I also have seizures (not super serious though), and Lamictal (not sure how it’s spelled) can be used as a seizure medicine which I used to take as a teenager. Never had a brain surgery though.

      It is funny how the two stories were linked that way. Bipolar disorder (what the ex girlfriend had) is strongly linked to epilepsy, and Lamictal (lamotrigine) treats both.

    Makes so much sense why those guys chose a comedy show instead of a strip club during the bachelor party.
    They just wanted a laugh and its disrespectful to laugh at titties.

    By the way guys, all antidepressants have these kind of side effects on the box; you're legally bound to write all symptoms occuring in test patients so if the medication happens not to work effectively for some people, the illness in itself is noted as a side effect of the medication. Similarly, most sleeping pills have 'insomnia' written on them as a side effect !!
