One thing I failed to mention in the video is that trusses, beam systems, curtain walls, curtain systems, and stacked walls cannot be in an assembly. Revit will allow you to add the components of a curtain wall to the assembly for example, but not the curtain wall itself. This is unfortunate but not the end of the world. Adding a curtain wall to an assembly means you will have only its components (curtain panels and mullions within the assembly) but the more important thing to note is you cannot edit it as a curtain wall anymore.
You probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I love any help you can give me
@Felix Brantley i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Super useful man! I am coming from 15 years of autocad Plant3D use and we are switching to revit for our latest project and this was very valuable. Thank you so much!
Assemblies are one of those things in Revit absolutely no one will talk about in a beginner course, but it is a real game changer in the workflow of a team. An elegant way to really organize your views. Discovered this gem this week and man I'm hooked! Thanks for the great explanation, sir.
I like all your videos that i watch. Pure 15min information. No bullshit. You doing good work here. I takes for ever to learn same exact thing from other revit channels.
Very informative. I wish I had known this when I started this project in entertainment rigging. Many specialized assemblies! My method of adopting Revit as my platform for my work has been to put on blinders and focus on what I need to get the project done. I'm going to watch your videos to expend my horizons a bit.
I enjoy watching your videos because I learn a lot from them however I think you should equally work on on your sound. Sometimes its so hard to hear what you're saying and the same problem is also noticed on your twinmotion videos. Keep up the good work bro.
One comment that I’d not necessarily related but that you brought up around 2:55 and that was that if you see some parameters when you select a model element, in this case an assembly, that you can schedule it. I thought the same thing when I was working with revision clouds and I was adding comments to them but I later came to realize that there is no option to schedule all those revision comments I made. It ended up being a big timesink and I ended up having to use dynamo (not too successfully).
Yea revision clouds cannot be scheduled unfortunately, although assemblies can create schedules from the assembled items. The thing to try would be to schedule assemblies or if the elements in the assemblies if they can be scheduled as normal.
Don’t really see me using these to much or ever while working on CDs? You gave that elev cab example, any other times where using assemblies is the right way to go?
It could be something like a specific repeating section of a retain storefront of if there is a detailed reception desk where you need views for the specific element. Those are a couple of examples where I would use an assembly.
While I would love to do MEP videos, I am unfortunately an architect. That said, I do see the value in knowing how to use them as an architect. This is something I will look into. Thank you for watching and subscribing, I really appreciate it!
@@ArchitectureVanguard the most important thing for an architect with regards to MEP is to allow for space for MEP equipment, such as adequately sized shafts and enough headroom. as for your videos, the way you explain is very good, you have the viewer's attention. btw, I tried assemblies for MEP but then I couldn't connect piping to the assembly so I reverted back to groups. but then with groups, I had a problem of elements being automatically excluded so I couldn't connect to the piping system
Thank you for the kind words! You have discovered why I dislike groups and sometimes assemblies. They both are both considered “closed pipes” (pun intended) in that everything in them needs to stay within them and not connected to anything else for them to work. For these reason I might not use groups because so much of what is modeled needs to be connected other objects.
What to do, if I want to have different phases in one project file? - I mean how to differenciate assembly name for the same elementy but in a different phase? I just want Revit to consider phase as variable.
In general, you never want to have the same element in multiple phases because that element would be built in the previous phase. I would make sure and think in a way that accounts for each element being in one phase. Given that, you might need to reform the assembly to account for what is in a specific phase.
@@ArchitectureVanguard I'am the structural engineer if that matters. I have a store building which have 2 phases (A and B) and both phases are almost the same, so there will be a lot of assemblies that are the same (for example concrete columns, foundations, etc). Is there a way to take two assemblies that are the same, and do something to name it differently? Or I have to give them some parameter just to divide them in the schedules?
In Revit, you would model a wall (whether is it precast or not) as a regular wall. You can use a number of way to determine if it is precast. That may be the name of it or through a note or maybe called out on a schedule.
It could be based on what is seen by default in those views. Could also be the extents of the view, although the assembly should have included what is in the assembly in the view. Check visibility graphics for sure. If you applied a view template with windows off then that may be why. Hope one of those helps.
@@ArchitectureVanguard Thank u for ur reaction. It is because of the nest families. I need to select each nest family with Tab and then make the assembly. Now it works perfect.
After creating assembly I wanted to move that assembly to some other location. after moving when I see the sheet, all the arrangements displaced why..?
oooh that's a good questions, one that I am not entirely familiar with. I will say that when I use assemblies, it is for one off things and for elements I know that will not move. You could consider remaking it.
Unfortunately I do not believe so. That is through transfer project standards. You can try copying or creating a group out of it and saving it as a link (or group) from there.
The thing with work planes is that you can only set one side or one plane at a time. After you set it then you can do what you need to do. You will have to set the work plane to the second side once you are ready to work on that plane.

@Felix Brantley It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Jerry Ali glad I could help :)

Couldn't agree more! Glad someone is using them haha. They are quite specific but do what they do very well!
I like all your videos that i watch. Pure 15min information. No bullshit. You doing good work here. I takes for ever to learn same exact thing from other revit channels.
Nice thanks you show and explain so clearly thanks
Most welcome 😊

Hey, that is not a bad way of learning the program. Once you have some experience, you can start to look more broadly. Thanks for watching!
You saved me. Thank you so much.
Glad to hear it!
Thank you. A little difficult to concentrate on what you are saying with the background music on, but very useful.
Sorry about that, I have since removed the background music in other videos.
Very good stuff. You should have way many viewers...
Thanks so much!
Great Thank you🙏
You're welcome 😊
Well explained. Thank you man.
Hey, no problem!
Hi, can you make a video for making a schedule for rebar assemblies.
Possibly, I am an architect and very far from a structural engineer so I may not be so helpful in that department haha.
I enjoy watching your videos because I learn a lot from them however I think you should equally work on on your sound. Sometimes its so hard to hear what you're saying and the same problem is also noticed on your twinmotion videos. Keep up the good work bro.
Thanks for the tip! I have improved it some but will be sure to take note of it.
Really nice video!
Thank you very much!

This is very helpful - Thanks!!

wow very professional video!! now do MEP videos :-) a (yes i liked and subscribed cos its good content)

How to compare precast walls in Revit, whether they are similar or not?
In Revit, you would model a wall (whether is it precast or not) as a regular wall. You can use a number of way to determine if it is precast. That may be the name of it or through a note or maybe called out on a schedule.
👍👍👍👍👍👍excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
I have a problem with create views when I made one assembly for window. In my views are all empty. Maybe u know what was wrong?

Could you please move your video picture on the top to be able see the warning notes? Thank you
I will do my best to be more aware of this. Thank you for pointing it out!
BrilliantStuff
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Awesome.
Please don't use music on the background.
I have since removed the background music in other videos. Glad you liked it otherwise though!
Is it work if I want to pick a element from revit links??
Once you select the link or hover over the link you can keep hitting tab to select an element in a link.
Can you transfer the assembly to another project ?
Unfortunately I do not believe so. That is through transfer project standards. You can try copying or creating a group out of it and saving it as a link (or group) from there.
How do i set work plane two sides
The thing with work planes is that you can only set one side or one plane at a time. After you set it then you can do what you need to do. You will have to set the work plane to the second side once you are ready to work on that plane.
@@ArchitectureVanguard i want to corner place im do it draw using extrusion in triangle shape.. Bt cant draw woek plane
Why autodesk wants to make things complicated
I have been asking that question forever haha!
