Without a doubt, for me, the greatest hymn in the entire repertoire!!!!!

Now at 71, i remember singing this hymn at school at morning assembly, then some fool politicians put a stop to all that, i think it first happened in America and came across the pond to us, Bit by bit our country is changing for the most obscure reasons.

Not half as good as KINGS COLLEGE , because there are FEMALES in this choir -- which totally spoiled it ! The female soprano voice isn't a patch on a young boys voice, which is pure rich and clear. . They also look OUT OF PLACE in what has up to now, always been a male choir ! Why do women want to be in on everything ! ?

Get your choir to sing this girls only, boys only, and mixed. Then present on youtube blind, as a test (without picture). And some of us will hear the difference. I'm not against girls. But I miss the pure treble boy sound. This spoils it for everyone of us who HEARS this.
Listen to the Ely choristers doing this under quarantine. Most of their girls have a cleaner tone than their boys.
MerricMaker they have a DIFFERENT tone. Don’t mistake what I’m saying. Boys are no better, just different from girls. Your comment admits this. And here is the irony: if I say that I miss the “pure” tone of the boy treble, I am accused of implying that girls are not “pure” (and ergo that I am implying they are inferior). Yet you can say that girls have a “cleaner” tone than the boys, and this is acceptable! My friend, just rejoice that you hear the difference between the sexes - and try to see that I lament that we cannot celebrate those differences. I for my part prefer the “shriller” tone of a (boy) treble to the “cleaner” tone of a girl soprano. You, evidently, prefer the latter.
