What a time for keyboards, $16 for a whole keyboard kit with hot swap pcb, bluetooth and 2.4ghz wireless. And there's finally more budget tactile switch options.
I took a bit of shortcut by buying used items from the local market ( keycaps) and was able to make a full on custom build for Total 40 dollars with this kit. For me , it was a super duper fun project as well. To me , I think it's more of a test bench kind of thingy rather than a board for daily driving ( that doesn't mean you can't daily drive the board If you want to). Ideal for starters IMO.
thanks for mentioning (although only briefly @ 8:27) the latency situation. as this is a wireless only board, the delay might be a concern for someone looking into buying this.
My mother's student made me a customizable keyboard with the tester 68. If I am not wrong, I think he used your tutorial ( just assuming ). I ordered keycaps and they are about to arrive anytime soon. I would need this for the key arrangement!
@@itssamueltan :) Thanks! I like watching keyboard modding videos because I just love the clicking noises and how they mod the keyboard in order to make it sound like that. By the way, by any chance, are you SIngaporean?
This keyboard is perfect for custom keyboard because xda profile keys doesn't have a large backlit market yet, having rgb is a total waste of battery and money. You could go for OEM/Cherry profiles that has backlit like when I started but they're fugly on custom keyboards but eventually you'll arrive at xda profiles one way or another for the thock, which is the main appeal of a custom keyboard. Sure, you have rgb leaking through the sides however it only steals attention from the second appeal of custom keyboard; the custom keycaps. You wouldn't want backlit if you're going custom, because those custom image printed keycaps like genshin ones are all opaque, you can even print your selfie if you're into that. However, there are custom backlit key caps that are avail right now only in OEM profiles, where they coat the transparent keycap with a base color of your choice; black for example. An they burn off the black coating according to your image revealing the transparent texture underneath, hence your image is not colored by paint, but lit by the color of your led underneath the keycap. If you're into this for your custom keyboard, then rgb is a must.
Should I buy aftermarket stabs for this kb? I am starting a small project of my own with a low budget in hand. I already received the kit but I'm a bit curious about the rattling stock stabs.
Man im planning to buy this but idk if the bluetooth is worth it cz how fast does the battery drain ? will it last ? there are more expensive kits with c type ports but they cost wayy more and idk which one to pick cz i don’t wanna keep using up batteries
Hey, the battery will last around 2-3 weeks with the RGB on. If you want to use the wireless functionality alot I suggest getting one that charges, it will save you more in the long run. Or if you don't mind just using with cable.
I am saving money and not sure if i will buy this one or the gmk67 which is more expensive. May I ask what is more durable for long term use Bluetooth or wired? I am a little worried if tester68 will last me a long time.
hii , i have a question if you dont mind , so ive bought the ciy tester 68 and i got everything in it but when i press the letter F it clicks on 6 or more key combination and its missing everything up for me , for example when I game and try to chat and clicks the letter f it types this and goes into small screen mode from the game itself ( zcv) and when i click 1 it gives this (13564`-=l;k) ive looked online to see if its a issues in the keyboard itself but it dosnt seem like it and its only my own one , ive had the keyboard zcv fully apart and no wires or other stuff is missed in it .
Hi, it can be a loose hotswap socket or the PCB is touching something conductive like a piece of foam or anything under it. If you have checked everything and it's still broken, you can try finding someone who fixed Keyboards or just claim the warranty from the seller
