    You guys should make a paid online class. One session hands on analysis while guiding new investors.

    loving the EM tools, especially the analyzer. It has shown me I was overpaying for most of my stocks. I have luckily taken profits from those and been much more critical about what price I would be buying at. Though I would like the analyzer to work for foreign stocks that are not traded on a USA exchange as currently, with the exception of BABA, I am only in the USA and would be keen to explore if there are good opportunities in the EU and the UK. Is there a rough estimate of when it would cover other markets?

    I want to clarify that he misspoke multiple times when calculating the ratios. If you want to calculate them by yourself then when it states "5 YR" it's means the average over those 5 years not the total as he stated.

  • @ecineko1
    @ecineko1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    5 Yr PE is based on the market cap divided by the "average" of the last 5 year earnings not "total". your number is correct but you said total in the video which is wrong :-)

      PE ratio is mostly a useless metric anyway unless you're undecided between two companies with similar PE ratios within the same industry. An experienced investor isn't worried about PE ratios as long as they're within range of the industry. Typically, established companies in the same industry have similar PE ratios.

    I have been studying the new P/E of the average 5 years for a couple of weeks now. taking the average 5 years of income decreases the income of highly growing companies to a level close to their income two to three years back .. which does not really reflect their current value >> I am also thinking that if a more accurate valuation of a P/E it to reflect the current situation of a company should take the Net Income on TTM basis not even of the last fiscal year. With using the average income of the last 5 years, I have all the companies I am studying as expensive while their current prices, specially with the current drop should not be as expensive as the 5yr avg P/E ration is showing.. All the companies I am studying are in the red now with 5yr average, while they are extremely attractive with the current P/E ratio. Take FB as an example.. for it to be attractive on the 5yr average we should wait until it is 194 >> Awaiting your thoughts on this

    I have a question if a company buys back shares from the public and they hold the shares the number of shares is the same, so if a company has 12 shares and buys back 2. 2 shares are now held by the company and 10 by the public, but the same amount of shares are still outstanding? Is this correct ?

      When buying a company you are contributing to a company’s equity. When buying it back they are reducing the number of contributors because they don’t owe you anymore

      Good question. A company can buy back their own shares and retire them. This is one way they manipulate stock prices and why I largely find PE ratio near worthless.

      Foot Locker is terrible. Look at financial ratios before covid, stimulus spending, unemployment boosts from fed gov. and free money for everyone has boosted retailers llike foot locker. The real revenue growth is barely keeping up with inflation and gross margins are shrinking since 2015. If you look at FCF of fiscal 2021 and how it compares to the previous 4 years it's pretty obvious that stimulus/ui boosted FL.
