hey just wanted to share a high protein ice cream recipe I always make. - 200g frozen strawberries - 45g whey protein powder (I use strawberry flavor but vanilla works as well) - 300ml unsweetened soy milk (can use other types as well, this one is just the cheapest) optional: - 40g of oats (I do this when I make this for breakfast to get some carbs in) just blend everything together in a blender and enjoy. the texture will depend heavily on if you keep your soy milk in the fridge or outside. if you want it more like ice cream just add less soy milk and if u want it more like a milkshake just add less strawberries or more soy milk.
@@MinaAyoubChef It's because they use a modified fat which is not digested by the body. It's called epogee and that's why it's so creamy and so low in calories. Only 0,7 calories per gram of epogee and has all the taste and flavor that normal fat does. Really interesting tbh
I would love if you could come out with a home made ice cream similar to Nicks. Most low cal ice creams I've seen are light and fluffy and not dense like real ice cream. Plus they don't store well in the freezer so makes it hard to meal prep. Something like this that could be made in advance and be low calorie would be amazing!
Yeah, the Halotop shrinking thing is from refreezing, as far as I have seen. I don't get ice cream anymore, but back when I was still grabbing it on occasion, the local Kroger had this problem across almost all of the protein ice creams (easily 50%+ were like this). They had some Kroger-brand-equivalent and it had the same problem (combined with really weird freezer burn). It got to the point where I'd have to shake/squeeze a pint before knowing if it was "good" or not. Rather than the price, this is what led to me not bothering with them. Thank god for blender-made protein ice cream.
Halo Top pints and their consistencies Is such a hit or miss.. which is very frustrating. Enlightened brownie + cookie dough is the best out of all of these IMO. Nicks is definitely slept on. Also glad I’m not missing anything with Ben and Diabetes lol.
I was eating halo top for a year or two and finally tried nicks… man I was blown away. Nicks is amazing. I highly suggest the peanut butter cup, I won’t be going back to halo top.
Mina, I think the EPG and the allulose is what gives Nicks it’s texture (best among low cal ice creams IMO). Wondering if the EPG is safe as veggie oils in general are very unhealthy (read the hyperlipid blog for example). Olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil are fruit oils - very healthy. Any thoughts?
Can't wait to try Nick's! I've tried a few anabolic ice creams and don't enjoy them. Too fluffy and sometimes gummy. I also don't want to eat that much in one sitting, but it doesn't keep. What might work better is an anabolic soft-serve though - they tend to be low fat or fat free since the constant churning would turn cream into butter. Will try one day (I have a soft-serve machine).
You should do a series on how to make different types of anabolic bread like classic sandwich bread, dinner rolls, hamburger buns, or maybe even tortillas or flatbreads.
After i discovered the brand Nyt and Dream Delight, i've been eating pints of ice cream nearly everyday. Their calorie count is maximum 350 cals which fits perfectly into my diet although i gotta say... Halo Top's Peanutbutter ice cream is freaking amazing People probably think i'm obsessed with calories and ice cream, which is correct. I am obsessed with ice cream and i love it, but not too worried about calories. I simply eat it because the flavor is decent and for 350 cals, i personally think it is a good bargain.
@@MinaAyoubChef you can go to their website and go to the product locator and it shows nearby areas that have their ice cream. I see them in meijer usually though.
That new Ninja Creami might do a good job at duplicating the Nick's. I'm curious to try it. Just waiting for some solid low-cal recipes to come out first :)
Nothing beats Ben n Jerry's for obvious reasons, but I thought the Nick's brand was definitely a step above Halo Top if you are concerned with the calories/macros. Halo Top was atrocious, Nick's is an ok alternative in my opinion.
Nicks is honestly really good and one of the lower calorie ice creams. If you can find I scandal-less tastes amazing too. Texture isn’t great but flavor is dope
The Halo Top salted caramel is really nice. Don’t know about the other flavours except I do remember having the vanilla bean once though and that wasn’t very nice, very chemical tasting
@@Grizzylikedatt I don’t usually, but that vanilla bean flavour is not good. I’ve had other low calorie ice creams and they’ve been really nice as well. I’m never going back to Ben and Jerry’s
Tried halo for the first time few weeks ago. Have never had a reduced calorie ice cream before. It was weirdly and ridiculously sweet! Way more sweeter than regular B&J and was quite icy. It was ok. Watched your video and tried Nick's caramel/coffee. Taste much better than halo. Nick's is creamier and less sweet. Will be my new go to ice cream!!
I actually have my own ice cream recipe Mina Here it is and it only requires a at least 1.7 quart sized ice cream maker •65 grams of allulose •50 grams of xylitol •30 grams of erythritol •245 grams of nonfat evaporated milk or normal if you want it more creamy •115 grams of half and half •35 grams of instant dry milk •50 grams of protein powder use a good tasting one or your ice cream will taste bad •340 grams of skim milk •.7 grams of guar gum •.7 grams of xanthan gum •.7 grams of Tara gum Or if you just have xanthan gum and guar gum use 1 gram of each gum •15 grams of cake batter extract to make it taste like birthday cake ice cream or just vanilla to make a simple ice cream Throw it all in a blender and if you want more dense ice cream blend it on low for 30 seconds scrape sides if needed For more airy/light ice cream blend on high for 2 minutes scrape sides if needed Immediately put mixture into ice cream maker Churn for 25 minutes Take out of ice cream maker and put into a container and get it to the freezer as fast as possible I would recommend to use a metal bread pan and put the bread pan in the freezer while it’s churning so it’ll be cold Hope you can try this out Mina and if you do tell me if you like it or not
@@polar1991 yea I think it taste better than minas and anything that is churned should have a better texture than a liquid that you just freeze like Mina’s mines I think at least similar to halo top ice cream not like the one that was in the video but the halo top ice cream that’s filled to the brim and light and airy
Imo ben&Jerry's is not worth it and I actually like lower cal ones more then bj. The thing about bj is that it's so dense and heavy, which like compresses the calories. My favourite ice cream is (not meant to be lowcal) only about 500 cal for 0,5L (a bit more than a pint). Its a vegan pistachio ice cream (doesn't "taste vegan", it tastes very creamy and delicious)
Seeee I get what your saying but the Nicks has tons of ingredients just like the other ones… My favorite is haagen dazs…definitely more calories but only 7-10 ingredients opposed to nicks 22 ingredients and 12 of those ingredients I have no clue what they are lol….We need to learn to have control. •65 grams of allulose
•50 grams of xylitol
•30 grams of erythritol
•245 grams of nonfat evaporated milk or normal if you want it more creamy
•115 grams of half and half
•35 grams of instant dry milk
•50 grams of protein powder use a good tasting one or your ice cream will taste bad
•340 grams of skim milk
•.7 grams of guar gum
•.7 grams of xanthan gum
•.7 grams of Tara gum
Or if you just have xanthan gum and guar gum use 1 gram of each gum
•15 grams of cake batter extract to make it taste like birthday cake ice cream or just vanilla to make a simple ice cream
Throw it all in a blender and if you want more dense ice cream blend it on low for 30 seconds scrape sides if needed
For more airy/light ice cream blend on high for 2 minutes scrape sides if needed

Churn for 25 minutes
