I think you think too much about the logic of swearing on hell, the main reason people don't swear all the time is not because it's not funny, it's because other people don't like it, in hell no one cares about no one, i think that's the point they try to express on those 2 shows.
There are other ways to show that people don't care other than having them constantly swearing. Depending entirely on that to get the point they don't care across and for jokes is honestly lazy

A lot of people apparently do have the same problem with being confused about the timeline. I personally didn't, but I understand why others do. I didn't see the jokes as mostly swearing, honestly most of the swearing sounded casual, I've heard my coworkers curse like that all the time. The humor is really more focused on dark jokes and jokes based on the characters' dynamics with one another, you could take out the swearing but it does fit the environment and tone and makes it more believable. Moxxie is the funniest to me, his straight-man/only sane man reactions are hilarious!
You are kinda right. The bigger diference between Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel pilots is the size of them. While Hazbin Hotel had time to show how the characters interact whit each other on longer conversations and had enough time to build up jokes, Helluva Boss had to show what the characters are to each other on a more "quick" way, same for the comedy, showing flashbacks as the joke instead of them doing something exactly funny.

While I definitely see the Family Guy cutaway gags here I personally don't know if that's entirely meant to be the purpose of the show. A lot of it was gags but it was in many ways felt like a way to serve an entertaining way of providing exposition. Most of these flashbacks introduced and or showed character Dynamics and relationships that wouldn't necessarily be properly explained in the base plot of the meeting. Loona being Biltzo's adopted daughter, Moxxie and Millie's marriage, and the introduction of Stolas, for whom they acquired the ability to travel to the mortal realm, who likely wouldn't have been introduced in any organic manner outside of the flashback. Sure there was probably a better way to communicate all this information but I don't hold any of it against the pilot because I found it all too funny. My two favorite parts were the hospital scene after the jingle (like they totally made you think that that was something else entirely but then revealed it to be part of the commercial cause "da fuck") and Blitzo staring at Moxxie in bed. And yes the full "Oh Millie" song made me very happy.

I'm fine with it in certain shows like Camp Camp, I feel like they do comedic swearing fairly well, but with shows like these they need to make them feel more natural

yes thats such a perfect example!! the first time I watched Camp Camp, I cracked up whenever they cussed because it didn't feel so overdone and forced like a middle schooler's cartoon, it felt more natural and mature. That being said, I do still love Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss even tho I think the dirty jokes/cussing is like way too much to the point where it feels forced.

Personally while watching this it reminded me sort of as the office but more focused in hell with the hints of dark humor and personally I liked this one more than HH (nothing against those who like that one more) also I like Brandon Rogers and Richard Steven Horvitz (the VA of Zim and Billy from the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy)

a lot of people don't like the swearing because its voice acting, which means its not genuine and it just SOUNDS so forced. at least thats what I think. in live action movies made for adults, I get the same vibes. for really good actors, the cussing sounds so natural I don't even notice it, but for other actors, it just sounds so out of place and forced where I cringe.

I think both shows work for their time frames. Hazbin is a great story-centric longform show, and Boss works best as little 10-minute rapid-fire sketches inbetween Hazbin stories.
Literally me and everyone in my friend group just swear all time lol honestly i didn’t see the swearing as an attempt to be funny, so much as people like me and friends being represented in a show. Plus, with Netflix being a thing you don’t need to PC to get picked up for a tv show Last thing, lots of swearing and being a bad person are in no way related. You can swear and be a good person or not swear and be an awful person

i got into HB after watching hazbin on prime. i love both but HB has stolas and blitz who have captured my heart 4 all time. one of the reasons i enjoy HB is the adult humor. i'm not religious in any way and take no offense to swears, it's funny to me. so,i luv it hahaha

Also, a little detail that I never really see people talking about is the fact that when Blitzo says that "Loona is a valued member of our family", her expression softens into a smile, showing that she does appreciate his caring attitude.
I actually liked this more than Hazbin Hotel. I think it has better timing too, it reminds me of a lot of movies that I like. I like the swearing, I feel it's realistic coz I know a LOT of people who talk like that, specially in my country. I know it may sound dumb but I feel like North Americans and Europeans see the world a lot more happy-go-lucky than it really is... that's good, it SHOULD be like that, but it's not, and the kind of people who end up in hell might do these things. (People complaining about the slurs and the misogyny as if they were done by "the good guys"? I think it will only be problematic if Charlie uses it) this is only my opinion btw.
I think the only reason you were so critical of it is because you were told that it was bad before watching it. It's pretty similar to Hazbin Hotel in terms of relying on dirty/cussing jokes the whole time and the comedic timing being a bit crazy. I kinda wish you reacted to it before reading any critiques, I think it would have been very different.

I think both shows work for their time frames. Hazbin is a great story-centric longform show, and Boss works best as little 10-minute rapid-fire sketches inbetween Hazbin stories.

I agree with the bits points. They’re definitely are times where I’m a little confused. I think the language is just a tad bit overdone as well. I like most of it but here and there there is quite a bit of it. I love the concept and idea of the show as well. I LOVE this show idea.. I mean if can love Steven Universe with its plethora of issues I can easily love this

i got into HB after watching hazbin on prime. i love both but HB has stolas and blitz who have captured my heart 4 all time. one of the reasons i enjoy HB is the adult humor. i'm not religious in any way and take no offense to swears, it's funny to me. so,i luv it hahaha

Sometimes, apropos of nothing, I text my friends the whole "some guy who hired us" speech in all caps just to see their reaction.
In my eyes beeing in hell is a ''good enough excuse for swearing constantly'' because,yes indeed not all bad people swear on earth, it isn't as normalized that everyone swears ON EARTH but in my eyes, it could be that it has been normalized IN HELL that everyone swears, you know, like its almost beeing treated as part of the language, and people that go from earth to hell, which didnt swear before, kind of addapt that swearing habbit in hell because everyone does it. Idk i dont think its meant to be funny, i'm a person that swears a lot and the swearing just goes over my head when i watch hazbin hotel or helluva boss, its not the funny part to me so i'm sometimes even suprised that people even notice the constant swearing when, like i said, its so normalized in the pilots? Like, after some time it should be normal to all of you and should go over your heads that they're even swearing at all because..ITS CONSISTANTLY THERE..
Different opinions for sure, I’ve seen some people like Helluva Boss waay more than Hazbin, and vise versa. And a... ‘helluva’ lot more opinions. Me personally, I think they nailed the humor and had more focus on characters than Hazbin Hotel, and anything that makes me laugh I like. Still might say I like Hazbin more? But idk, I rate them differently. I just know you should never like other people’s opinions alter your own. Enjoy it how you like

I actually liked this more than Hazbin Hotel. I think it has better timing too, it reminds me of a lot of movies that I like. I like the swearing, I feel it's realistic coz I know a LOT of people who talk like that, specially in my country.
I know it may sound dumb but I feel like North Americans and Europeans see the world a lot more happy-go-lucky than it really is... that's good, it SHOULD be like that, but it's not, and the kind of people who end up in hell might do these things. (People complaining about the slurs and the misogyny as if they were done by "the good guys"? I think it will only be problematic if Charlie uses it) this is only my opinion btw.
I think the only reason you were so critical of it is because you were told that it was bad before watching it.
It's pretty similar to Hazbin Hotel in terms of relying on dirty/cussing jokes the whole time and the comedic timing being a bit crazy. I kinda wish you reacted to it before reading any critiques, I think it would have been very different.
I love this pilot, but yeah, flashbacks within flashbacks aren't great for a cohesive narrative
