I'm a student of music for my whole life, but last night I thought about it and realized I couldn't tell you what really separates GREAT jazz, from good. "bad" stuff is usually fairly obvious. But even then, who are we to call anything bad? Anyway, is there any possible way you could educate a jazz hylic such as myself as to what makes these cats separate from a "museum installation", as you put it?
I can't even begin to describe how talented you guys are. Coming from someone who primarily listens to metal haha. God I just love the way you guys groove like that. There's some real soul to your music, and that's what I love the most
Been following the streaming era of jazz (post covid) and the ones going strong are... Emmet Cohen, Kyle Poole, Russell Hall, Alexander Claffy, Benny Benack and their circle of friends, Miki Yamanaka, and you guys. Can't forget Smalls. You guys have given the world a sneak peak of some great NYC jazz via internet. So those are some things I'm grateful for this year. Keep the music going!
@Jack Willoughby I know it never died. It was very popular in the 1920s-1930s and not nearly as popular as modern pop, rock, hip hop, etc. Just warms my heart to see young new jazz musicians and the internet helps. I just got into jazz recently cause I started playing bass

Living in the UK always loving my music right across the board, but more jazz, blues & R&B, Sax my favourite instrument I never learnt, a little now, but not enough. You guys play a great sound!! 🎶🎸🎷😃
The electric feel of all of this is amazing, being a bass player and being quite young I cannot believe how good your bassist is! The way he can effortlessly stay in tune and vibe with the song while moving his fingers at lightspeed is amazing, really hope you guys go far and looking forward to that album!
Greetings from Indonesia! Listening to this during my work commute in the midst of the hustle and bustle in Jakarta is honestly the vibe I've always needed
Watching this premiere from rural Utah, never been able to see a jazz show and don’t really have a way to get to a city to see one currently, thank you guys so much for bringing one to me and what a show it is ❤️🔥
Man, even in Salt Lake it's difficult to find live jazz. A metro area of one million people but only like three places that have live jazz on a weekly basis. This is probably true for a lot of other smaller cities though. I'm hopefully that jazz will continue growing in popularity though
As a drummer, I know how hard it is to control that soft dynamic while playing challenging stuff! Each one of you respect each other on a high level and it definitely shows in your playing. You blend well when playing together and then when it’s time for someone’s solo you let them sing!! I’m so mad I’m a year late to this masterpiece
Just "stumbled" onto this post and well......I just will be damn...so glad these cats got a slice of nice in the way of opportunity to display their sincere expressions in good Jazz music...wishing them much success in their career as a unit as well as continued growth and longevity!!!
Noice!!! The wind instrument brotha needs 4 hands and 2 mouths. You can tell when he stops for a sec, he's playing his other instrument on air, talent!!! 😂👌🏻✌🏻
I don’t really know anything about music but this was insanely mind blowingly nice to listen to and i think i just realized how much i love jazz, maybe i’ll start playing the drums again lol you guys are so cool!!!!!!

Check out Madlib’s Shades of Blue. It changed how I listen to music.

Jazz is alive, thrivin’, and always vibin’. Keep on keeping on my dudes!
Best New jazz band in a very, very long time. Feels actually fresh and not like a museum installation. Bravo gentleman.

Odd word to use...."soul"? Is it cuz they are black? Just wondering. White boys think anything with us in it has "soul"
