Nicely done Erik. I agree completely that before leaving on a major adventure, a short passage in challenging, but safe conditions is a great exercise for the skipper, and for the boat. I'll be following your example in the near future. :-)
Another great video Erik! As a sailing instructor and offshore sailor it would be remis of me not to mention how nervous it makes me watching you move around the deck in that weather without a lifejacket or tether. I know they can be inconvenient and cumbersome when moving around, but as a solo sailor you should consider wearing them all the time. Use those jack lines you installed! I'd hate to read about a great sailor being lost a sea. Stay safe out there and looking forward to the next video!
I was going to say the same thing, but Sail Nelson beat me to it. I totally endorse his recommendation -- can't imagine doing the sail work on deck without both life vest and tether.
I felt this worry as well. We’re hoping you safe travels. I personally sometimes only use a harness to force me to be tied in even in cockpit and in a way that i cant get over the lifelines. I also keep a PLB and knife on me. I think it’s better to have a plb for each person than one epirb for boat.
Erik my friend, I am no sailor but I am truly inspired by your video making, story telling and way of life. I am loving the attention to detail you put into your edits and I can appreciate the subtle things you do to capture the moments to share with us all. This was another excellent adventure and production which was narrated with that unique style of yours. Take care and can I wish you a safe 2022.
As a retired professional yacht captain for over 30 years I salute you. I'm an armchair sailor these days but your videos take me right back to the cockpit with you. Keep them coming Erik. You are an inspiration.
What a great video, not only sailing but showing a well organized community. You can definitely see a seafaring mentality of Norwegians in how well the harbours are planned and maintained. I have not seen a poorly maintained harbour in any sailing videos out of Norway. Fair winds on your 2022 season.
Another fantastic film. I have been a dinghy sailor, windsurfer, mountain biker, cruiser sailor and father. I am now mostly a glider pilot and so have managed to be anxious and frightened in almost every element apart from fire. In this film you touch on the abundance of life that once was in the sea. That this has disappeared would be frankly terrifying to anyone who lived one or two hundred years ago. This frightens me more than anything else right now.
Great video, I can't wait to see your next attempt to reach Greenland! I would love to hear some more in-depth commentary on your sailing technique in different weather conditions, choosing which sails to hoist, how the boat reacts to different sailplans, when and why you decide to reef, and so on.
Good to see you and Tessie back on the water, with some admirable drone shots to add to the perspective. You need better luck this year with the wind patterns, and we can only hope they work to your advantage, by contrast to 2021. Glad to see your technical support increasing too, it's well deserved.
It feels good to be with you sailing Norway again. I caught your quick shot with Sam Holms a month ago. You to a quite different in your approaches to boats and sailing but a few beers remedies most of those. Keep a sharp eye on the horizon.
Looking forward to watching your next steps!! We actually try to taste how nice and difficult is it on board a sailboat like yours with A MINDSET LIKE YOURS. THANK YOU ERIK, SAFE SAILING!!
Erik…been following you for about a year now. So enjoy your videos! Your spirit of adventure is so compelling. I learn from watching you. Can’t wait for next adventure!!
Erik, another masterpiece! Very challenging conditions and not for the faint of heart. Your ship is looking better with every video. The island you visited is beautiful and the buildings form a very attractive community. Norwegians build great communities! Thank you for sharing. AL Vancouver, Canada.
You make that look like a simple walk down the street. Great to see more videos!! What a beautiful place! You truly have the life. Stay well and warm. Until next time.
Heeeeyyy…welcome back! I get such a kick out of watching you, learning from you. Listening while you tell us that each time you return to the boat, you have to relearn much. I’m so fascinated!
Your videography is INCREDIBLE Erik. Your attention to taking videos from every direction and your thorough editing makes your channel the most enjoyable of any of the sailing channels. Stay safe…….from Apex, North Carolina, USA
Now this guy is a sailor. I have one beef though and it could be I missed it, but I did not see a safety harness and that is some cold ocean to lose your boat by falling overboard. Maybe I'm wrong but I did not notice one.
a safety jacket would only make suffering worse if you end up in water of 3 degrees. There is no time for rescue so I get his point. It only obstructs your movements while sailing, I do the same here....
@@pedrowyns9204 > "There is no time for rescue so I get his point." You're right. So use harness and safety tether. Use Jacklines (Erik has). Possibly really short tether. Yes, it's annoying. But it will save your life. Just take this time. It's for you.
Thank you Eric. Landlocked here, end of a Xc ski day. Your work& beautiful video of oceans& islands make quiet of the seemingly troublesome times in the world.
U are number one my friend! I’m happy that you are founding a lot of sponsor, you worth it. You let me think that new discoveries are possible and that adventure is only a state of mind. Fair winds Eric

AH.." To head out when you really don't want to". This is the essence of sailing because sailing is a martial art and a discipline not meant to be fun but challenging and rewarding.
Love the music that you used to support the drone shots of Uutsera (?sorry Uutserians) and the editing is getting better every time (like the technique of using the audio from the next scene starting at the end of the previous scene to create a transition). Also, great to see new sponsors helping you out. The new Helly Hanson gear looks like it will keep you in great shape during the coldest passages.
Great video Eric ! I’m surprised you don’t utilize a harness and lifeline while moving about the deck in rough seas. Be safe and keep up the great work.
Been longing for a new video from you. Slowly recovering from falling from my boat two months ago, head first down to the dock, fracturing my right wrist. I really long to go winter sailing soon. You inspire me to keep up with training after having surgery, regaining my strength...
Well done. Agree - the only way to understand how the boat sails in rough conditions ... get out there and sail. Agree - need to do this frequently to keep the skills up. Safe sailing and keep the videos coming!
Great video Erik and love seeing you head out for a shake down sail in expected 30-40 knot winds...your sense of adventure is awesome!! Also, I purchased a sweat shirt from your site and the quality and make is great!!! Now if I can just keep my daughter from stealing it I will get some great use out it here in Boston this winter!! Keep up the sailing adventures.
Nice to see you sailing again Eric on another of your exploring adventures. You have a great boat the contessa 35 that looks after you. I wish you would wear a harness and safety line and perhaps tidy all your loose sheets in the cockpit which could cause you to slip badly. Perhaps make some tidy bags for easy storage of them. You make very interesting video's with such a wide range of camera views and scenery.
Great to see you back and in good health. I love how you are not just a fair weather sailor. Great work with the camera also. Always look forward to your next sail.
You’re videos are awesome and inspiring! I’m a sailor myself on a similar boat having sailed many thousands of miles . I have come to realize along my travels that we do not live on a spinning ball. Happy sailing friend
It's always great to see you again Eric, although I was a bit nervous watching you on the foredeck without wearing a safety harness while sailing solo. Stay safe, skål 🍻 💖
another great way to start my Sunday, thank you Erik. The way you did the flow, I felt like I was onboard. Magic to see the towns/islands/history. I’ve only sailed the west coast of Sweden up towards Norway. When I arrived from tropical Qld Australia, the locals laughed at my wet weather gear and I had to borrow everything. 👏🤗
Just awesome as always Eric. Great views of the amazing scenery and incredible sailing. It’s no wonder everyone is leaving the tropics and heading your way. It’s always the case where you build up the fear in your mind but the boat knows it’s what it was built for. Just toss the lines and she’ll show you a good time. Thanks for the inspiration.
Nicely done Erik. I agree completely that before leaving on a major adventure, a short passage in challenging, but safe conditions is a great exercise for the skipper, and for the boat. I'll be following your example in the near future. :-)
#RANsailing just put up a very informative above deck inspection video.
Good to hear Patrick. I was thinking of you just this morning.
Good to hear from you Patrick! I was wondering if you had already sold your last boat again. Waiting for another video!
Can’t wait, Patrick.
Patrick, Erik, please, use the lifeline when you leave the cockpit. Your followers need you.

I've said the same to him in the past, in less than a second it could be all over. I hope he sees sense sometime soon.
I felt this worry as well. We’re hoping you safe travels. I personally sometimes only use a harness to force me to be tied in even in cockpit and in a way that i cant get over the lifelines. The best sailor on the net - his boat just seems to jump from wave to wave
I agree 100% !!!
I would love to see more of these little Norwegian Island and coastal communities . I wonder what the people are like who live there. So interesting

Bought the Hoodie for Christmas, love it. Thanks.
I love the history behind the places you go to! Please do more of it! Great content!
One day i will sail the sea and you will be one of those people who inspired me to do so, thanks Erik for your video, greetings from Lithuania
Respect! 🍺🇱🇹. (hoping I chose the correct flag)
Great job showing people the North Sea, having sailed to the Netherlands in the 1990s, admiring admire your skill and organization.
Love the aerial views, and Tessie looks gorgeous wearing her two headsails, have a great 2022, Thanks Eric
Nice to see you back at sea. Stay warm, stay safe Erik ❤️ Much love from Canada
Appreciate you sharing your honesty about being scared after having a break, but its so good just to jump back into it!

good to see you up and about erik, well done!!
I love the the way you take me inside of the trip! Always amazed!! The best sailing channel on TH-cam by far 👏 🙌 there is no comparison
Огромное спасибо, Эрик! Было здорово снова тебя увидеть! Жду с нетерпением новые видео и новые приключения!

To head out when you really don't want to....the Viking spirit!!! I salute you!
Love the honesty about feeling nervous and scared after having not been out for a while. That really is No Bullshit, Just Sailing. Respect to you sir.
Thank you Eric for your adventures. I think this episode is like a "Hollywood" production
¡Gracias!
It feels good to be with you sailing Norway again. I caught your quick shot with Sam Holms a month ago. You to a quite different in your approaches to boats and sailing but a few beers remedies most of those. Keep a sharp eye on the horizon.
Thanks for letting us know what you plan to achieve this year, it helps in knowing what to look forward to!
Спасибо за субтитры на Русском языке 👍👍👍
В России тоже любят парус и большой Океан !!! Уважают Смелых людей!!!
Успехов Капитан !!!!!!!!!!

Great to see you back on the water! As always, your photography is so good I can smell those sheep.
Great to see you and Tessie on the waves again, Erik! Thanks for another stunning video.

Great to see you back on the water Erik and of course a treat to get a video in the "offseason." Stay warm and safe.
In the navy we were issued HH jackets when we had to work on deck de-icing. They took them off us as soon as we came back in.
without lifeline to the front of the boat is nearly suicide
Glad you are well and heading out to fulfill your Viking longing for the sea
Lovely filming. Always wanted to see some of Utsira!
I like the fishing history with the modern sailing. Thanks!
Thank you Eric. Landlocked here, end of a Xc ski day. Your work& beautiful video of oceans& islands make quiet of the seemingly troublesome times in the world.
Looking forward to the up and coming adventures this summer.

The best channel - sailing at it's best
Beautiful small walk. I cannot wait for mine too. You have inspired me and my family.
Magnifique vidéo, encore. Merci pour les sous titres.
À bientôt pour une nouvelle vidéo.
So professional ! Thank you Erik.

Nice one Erik, thanks for all the work you put into these and sharing, both interesting and inspiring. Stay safe, FWAFS.
Erik, I can't tell you enough how much I enjoy your adventures. Big Thanks!
Can you share more about your sleep plans as a solo-sailer?

Great to see you back on the water. I think you should do the epic North West passage some day. You have the tenacity and mindset required.
Looks like really warm and comfortable clothes. I don't mind watching your adverts as they are helpful to see them in action.
Another nice adventure Erik, i look forward to your videos
Everything about this was brilliant! Great photography, editing and sailing. Nicely done Erik. And the HH gear is the best!
It's always good to see a new video from you, Erik! Thanks for sharing your passion with us all!
Yea! More adventures… thanks Erik
Been longing for a new video from you. Slowly recovering from falling from my boat two months ago, head first down to the dock, fracturing my right wrist. I really long to go winter sailing soon. You inspire me to keep up with training after having surgery, regaining my strength...
The orange tip on the staysail looks so industrial and hard-core. Cool video again Erik!
Pretty green for Norway in January. It looks like summer in those drone shots.
0:44 Man, you would LOVE IT here in Newfoundland! You have to get here this summer!!
Happy to see you back. You're a courageous sailor, a brave soul, and a wonderful cinematographer, and fantastic storyteller. See you again.
And now a Helly Hansen sponsorship. You're getting excellent sponsors for sure. I used to love my HH thermal layer when I was in the army.
Well done. Agree - the only way to understand how the boat sails in rough conditions ... get out there and sail. Agree - need to do this frequently to keep the skills up. Safe sailing and keep the videos coming!
It is a beautiful island. Looking forward to your Greenland journey.
Good to see you back on the water.
I completely agree with you about the first sail of the season
Thank you!! I love the new jacket by the way. I am a big fan of my Helly hells!! Take care bro.
Norway is so pretty. Can’t wait for our skiing holiday in Trysil in 3 weeks time!
And, thank You for Tessie!
Another awesome journey Eric. Thanks.
Always looking forward to your videos, awesome sailing ⛵️ congrats!
Thanks Erik, I really enjoy your energy and the way you put these videos together, Cheers Mate, from Australia.

Great to see you back and in good health. I love how you are not just a fair weather sailor. Great work with the camera also. Always look forward to your next sail.
Tak Eric I really enjoyed that, the beautiful island looked so peaceful. See you soon, Jon
we need more!!!
Great to see you back at it Erik.
Great video, as expected, Erik. Looking forward to your Hebrides adventure. ⛵
Nice to see where the BBC Shipping Forecast (North Utsire and South Utsire) is based on! Great footage and narration as always.
Good to see you back Erik ,
Glad your back on the water

Erik, nice adventure. I also love Helly Hansen. You can tell them that we see you well equiped with HH jacket and pants.
I enjoy your videos.. and the mixed comment on the journey, the islands, the drone shots, and the equipment.. really great videos
Beautiful. How you launch and retrieve a drone in those conditions absolutely amazes me.
Couldn't wait to see you in greenland, we are exited as much as you are. 3rd times a charm :D
