Before you speak anything bad about the Asia's Songbird, Mrs. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, have some research about her stardom and achievements. Yes! Mariah Carey is untouchable like Whitney Houston and other singers. But Regine is a legit and superb singer .. She is not a copycat singer. She is a Queen forever in our hearts.
Like her version of 'On The Wings of Love' and 'Looking Through The Eyes Of Love' were better than the originals, and very passionate singing from her among a lot of other songs from her from the 90's

I think her supreme vocal talent is largely wasted in the muddle of imcompetent philipine entertainment / music industry. She deserves to have a first rate recording studio to design songs for her. And it's not that difficult to compose for her because she has such a wide, wide, dynamic vocal range. And she is filled with emotion when she sings. You know she loves what she does. I think if Sony Music or any other big studios in the us signs her, she can do so much more with her talent.

A shame she never crossed over to American audience in 1991, With the right producers of that era, David Foster and Walter Afanasieff, among others, would have made Regine a big star, her singing was amazing. My definition of "originality" is in such a way when a singer does a cover version of someone else's song, they manage to add in their personal touch to the extend people forget how the song was sung originally. A classic example would be Whitney's "I will always love you" and the collaboration with Luther for Mariah's "Endless Love" and not forgetting "Without you". Other than the tune sounded the same, no way are the singing technique even close for comparison.
