As a music artist/inclined like myself, understand that this is clearly another attack or I may say technique in singing. People who know less about music would just listen to some VERSIONS like its a copycat and would not notice some differences as compared to the original.I'm not an avid fan but I listen to some songs of regine velasquez, mariah carey, whitney houston,celine dion etc. becuase they are truly an artist. Regine's voice is not bad at all.

there's a difference between shouting and belting. shouting is just loud noisy sound without any melody while belting is hitting specific high note with synchronization to music. her rendition is perfect as mariah. she just added some high notes because it's her style.
