TBH, album/single sales are probably very difficult to track. Most countries don’t have regulated tracking systems. Music is also consumed very differently today than 30 years ago. Physical sales, digital sales and streaming are also very difficult to compare (even tho there are equivalent units, but are they really equivalent tho??) also there are probably millions or even tens of millions of pirated copies especially from the 90s and 00s. So if two people have like a few millions difference in sales, it’s really not accurate. And it doesn’t really matter, Taylor is a good artist (even tho she’s definitely not as talented as mariah in the music department but she’s amazing) and we should be happy a young female artist is dominating global music market and not a (straight) man🤷♂️
Des chiffres pour Taylor complètement faux 😂 sont albums le plus vendu dois être a 12 millions et encore 😅😅😅 n'importe quoi vous balancer des chiffres qu'ils en aucun sens 😂😂😂😂
so many Mariah’s fans are triggered by the fact that Taylor is already on Mariah’s level in terms of sales. They claim that Mariah is superior in terms of pure sales, well duh? Her peak was at a time where pure sales were basically the only option to buy albums! Taylor eclipsed Mariah with digital and streaming sales, and even these days when pure sales are almost dead, she still has decent numbers. Also, they downplay Taylor’s talent just because her vocals are not on Mariah’s level. First of all Taylor is a pretty good live singer who can deliver her songs live back to back and she made great progress from her debut. First and foremost she is a very productive songwriter who writes both melodies and lyrics and who even wrote entire albums as the sole writer. She is pretty good instrumentalist (something that Mariah never was), being able to sing while playing with ease the guitar or the piano. She’s also grown into a pretty good performer and she’s being a brilliant businesswoman so far. Her talent is definitely real, she’s just not as focused on vocals as Mariah. Btw chartmasters is way more accurate than certifications (which are often manipulated, see Rihanna being more certified than Madonna), and it takes into account official statistics (including billboard and soundscan, plus hundreds of sources from all countries) from all metrics (singles, albums, LP, pure sales, digital sales, streaming), all weighted properly with a formula that’s used for everyone. It’s the most accurate and up to date source that we have. It’s ridiculous to try to downplay Taylor’s obvious discographic success just to defend the delusion that Mariah is untouchable because she’s the Queen of the 90s. Time goes on, new successful artists come out, there’s room for everybody. They belong in the same league amongst the top4 best selling female artists of all time, with Celine and Madonna
Mariah's sales haven't been updated since 2017, And that's a fact. Taylor is big, but Mariah is the founding mother, plus Taylor admires Mariah. Taylor's voice is mediocre, and her singing voice is like her speaking voice. lol Carey's and Madonna's sales are close to 400 million, Taylor is at 170 million to 200 AT BEST factoring streaming equivalent units.
@@MrFidelVEVO on chartmasters Mariah’s figures have been updated less than a month ago, and Taylor’s figures have been last updated in July 2023, so actually on chartmasters Mariah’s figures are more up to date, and according to chartmasters Taylor still outsold Mariah in equivalent units. According to claimed figures they are both around 200 millions sales. They definitely belong in the same league in terms of discographic success. When it comes to touring success, Taylor is in a league of her own. Regarding Taylor’s singing voice, I find her voice perfectly fine for the type of songs she sings. She has a pretty good range and strong lows, and her style works for her songs. Ofc she doesn’t compare to Mariah’s technical skill at her prime, but singing is just a fraction of her artistry, and vocal technique is not her main focus. They’re completely different artists, but they’re both insanely successful.
come on! I know some Mariah fans are delusional, but Mariah is also a GREAT songwriter, and much more criative producer than Taylor. She is underrated in those areas cause of the time misogynyst and rockist time she peaked. It is a fact. Its sad she dont receive the respect she deserves. Kudos for Taylor to write and produce her material as well. Their songwriting are not alike. Vocabullary wise, for me, Mariah is more mature even is ver 20's. But maybe is just me.
some people just can’t handle the fact that a younger musician is outgrowing one who’s been around for almost 30 years now. music changes and evolves and taylor is the future of the music industry. mariah had her time, now let someone else take the spotlight instead of sitting here and whining and making excuses as to why taylor is outselling mariah. god for bid.
yes they hold a grudge but it’s the truth and people are very immature by just bluntly not like taylor from being successful an one day taylor will probably be overtaken but it’s the truth and both of them are godly in different ways
Nothing personal on Taylor, but music now is FAR from envolving. The quality in general is just decreasing. And is ok that younger artists are breaking records, but the world and music sales works way different now. Its not comparable. Mariah's music is timeless and were ahead of the time. Take some time and try to appreciate it, knowing the personal story of her. If you like Taylor relatable work, sure you'll like Mariah's too. Sales dont mean everything.

@@eryzonhuan8604 You are outdated. In the RIAA data of musical artists with the highest certified sales in the USA, Taylor Swift is already well above Mariah. While in estimated/certified global sales it went from 12th to 9th place and this can change at any time. For this list of the best-selling artists in history, they must have estimated sales equivalent to at least 20% of their certified sales, and 75% in the case of newer artist. This is because companies often tend to exaggerate estimated sales, causing unrealistic figures that cannot be corroborated, and because certifications have changed over the decades. In the US alone, the 1989 re-recording certified 4 million copies in less than 3 months and MIDNIGHTS 14 million worldwide, making them the fastest albums to reach that mark in the decade. Secondly taylors personality on and off stage is faaar more exciting then ariana. Aris got a pretty voice and decent moves thats it. Mariah had a Godsent voice and worked her bum off to get those sales in pure form. Taylor has got a great vibe and shes knows shes not the best voacalist or dancer which is why she gives us what shes got and its working for her. Ari needs to learn to craft some better songs if she wants to get more success. Thank u next was IT but its follow up(aka positions) was a cash grab and it showed.
@@LaeeqaJardien firstly, ariana writes most of her songs too, plus she’s got not a “pretty voice” but a great voice, maybe not as great as mariah’s but definitely far more recognizable. secondly, positions is a mature, personal album that was misunderstood by many. while you can consider it or not as big as thank u, next, it’s still full of great tracks (safety net, 34+35, just like magic, off the table, my hair…).
as for the taylor comparison, she’s the most overrated artist nowadays. she’s good, but not nearly as people claim her to be. her personality isn’t more exciting LMAO
Can we also compare the sales against global population? Clearly there were less people on the globe 20 years ago!
both are my favs so i won either way 💋
TBH, album/single sales are probably very difficult to track. And it doesn’t really matter, Taylor is a good artist (even tho she’s definitely not as talented as mariah in the music department but she’s amazing) and we should be happy a young female artist is dominating global music market and not a (straight) man🤷♂️
Tayble doesn't stand a chance
you can clearly see she does
grandmahriah tanked
she really did actually sue is one of the best selling artists of 2010s and 2020s
Children's storybooks are becoming more popular as time goes by.
I definitely didn't skip to the part where Taylor comes to play. 😅

Where is Mariah's #1 album released in 1998?
It's a compilation, this list only has studio albums
@@donnastan101 True... however, #1's sold 17 million copies... and is the 3rd biggest compilation album by a female artist ever.

unfairr comperision!! it's like u compare between Mom n kids live expirience!!😂😂😂
so many Mariah’s fans are triggered by the fact that Taylor is already on Mariah’s level in terms of sales.
Beautiful gowns
Taylor’s numbers flying at the end she’s insane
some people just can’t handle the fact that a younger musician is outgrowing one who’s been around for almost 30 years now. music changes and evolves and taylor is the future of the music industry. mariah had her time, now let someone else take the spotlight instead of sitting here and whining and making excuses as to why taylor is outselling mariah. god for bid.
yes they hold a grudge but it’s the truth and people are very immature by just bluntly not like taylor from being successful an one day taylor will probably be overtaken but it’s the truth and both of them are godly in different ways
Mariah Carey talent is out this world 👑👑👑💯💯
Taylor beautiful gowns quote from late Aretha Franklin 😂😂😂😂😂💯 fact
Mariah is better vocalist than Taylor and Taylor is better songwriter than Mariah
the funniest part is that tswift is not known at all for wearing beautiful gowns. Aretha truly had nothing nice to say that day.
@@iHateGaga no one in the english language is a better songwriter than Mariah Carey.
There are only 6 Taylor Swift albums here. Certified sales: 267 million
Mariah Carey Certified sales: 182 million
Taylor Swift certified album in USA just 50 million let alone 200 million in the world... Even in Europe and Asia her album not sell more than mariah carey... So this is not accurate
She is the most consumed artist on vinyl albums, achieving five positions simultaneously in the top 10 of best-selling vinyl albums, the only solo artist to achieve this feat in history.
First in history to occupy the entire top 4 of pure copies in the US
Highest vinyl sales (2023) in 30 years, and fastest growing in the UK.
And the list goes on.
@@ADIAZ-sy9vw in singles yes but not album LOL midnights base on certification not yet achieved 14 millions go check the album certified in us alone not reaching 3 million let alone 14 milions...
