My Createx 4053 is coming out satin instead of Hi-Gloss. I am spraying at 20lbs pressure. Mixing ratio was correct and it was 78 degrees today. What could be causing this?
it still amazes me how much time and effort Createx puts into helping to understand and use its products! rare these days.. Quick question though, when applying 4050 to a helmet (ABS) as a adhesive primer, is it possible within the 48 hour window to add coats of 4030 or Autoborne sealer over the 4050 to maintain its open window? Or do I wait 48 hours and scuff it before applying a Basecoat (wicked)? I am waiting the full 48 for max adhesion to the ABS. Thank you!
AutoBorne Sealer can be applied over 4050 ~ 30 - 60 minutes after its applied. After ~ 48-hours air drying, 4050 has cured to a hard enough coating that best adhesion is created when the 4050 is scuffed 600 - 800 grit before applying AutoBorne Sealer; before this, the 4050 is "soft" enough that AutoBorne Sealer can be applied direct. Thanks for the kind words about our customer service.
For airbrush... how long will the reduced mixture last... shelf life... I'm a small batch bait maker... and mixing small amounts and getting the correct ratio is a challenge...
After thinning with with 4011 Reducer, UVLS Clears can be stored indefinitely so long as the bottle is capped air-tight and kept in a cool, dry place away from direct light (cabinet). Please note, our 48-hour "shelf life" after thinning with 4011 Reducer is conservative and actual shelf-life extends well beyond this. Thank you.
Question about the 2k Clear!! I didn’t you the red button for the bottom of the can!! Will it still have to the moon effect!! I noticed that the shine didn’t stay long is now dull along with fingerprints!! Will this happen with the 4053? Thanks in advance!!
Hey Chris! Thank you for the educational video! I have a job where I’m looking for an acrylic high gloss to touch up damaged wood and am unable to spray. Is it feasible to hand brush this product?
No, 4012 is being phased out and doesn't work with a lot of new Createx paints such as candy2o, UVLS Clears, 4030 Balancing Clear, and Wicked Opaque Colors. Thank you.
4053 High Gloss applied over AutoBorne 6001 Sealer White or 6002 Sealer Black makes an excellent base for a good he chrome-like effect of billet aluminum colors, specifically W357 Quicksilver and W358 Gold Chrome. This application technique allows for the reflection of light through the aluminum particles, creating a highly reflective silver finish that mimics a chrome appearance. The distinctiveness of the image (DOI) is a measure of how mirror-like the finish is, with higher DOI values indicating clearer and more reflective surfaces. The application technique, base color choice, and curing process all contribute to enhancing the DOI, thereby achieving a closer resemblance to actual chrome. Thank you.
It worked great for me, just be sure not to speed dry your simulated chrome piece(s), and allow enough time for your parts to dry thoroughly before clearcoat application.
Yes, 0.5mm at the very least. A little bigger would be better. Even with a 0.5mm tip, please note that not to all airbrushes are the same and one's with smaller, internal channel are more restrictive compared to a high-volume airbrush such as an Iwata Eclipse. Thank you.
4053 and all UVLS Clears are not recommended as a top-coat for fishing lures. A catalyzed (2k) epoxy or urethane clear works best. UVLS Clears are suitable for exterior applications, but are not intended for long-term, water submersion. Thank you.
Definitely interested in the high gloss How does this work if I’m using two tone color wheels? What will be the process of doing two tone, color wheels and also omitting the high gloss? What will be the procedure and baking between
Definitely make a test panel to determine the resulting finish. For automotive, we recommend a catalyzed (2k) urethane clear. We do not recommend UVLS Clears as the final top-coat on an automotive wheel. Thank you.
Hi Chris... I read that once the base coat dries, there is and open window for applying the finishing clear and the base would not need to be roughed up. But can a scuff pad be lightly used to clean the base prior to clearing to get rid of any small contaminants... Thanks.. M
For information about when to sand & polish UVLS Clears, please watch the 2nd part of this video and read the UVLS tech sheet available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.
Hi Chris/team, thanks for another informative video. Just wondering if UVLS 4050 clear is the right product to spray over aluminium foil tape that I use to provide texture and flash to my timber fishing lures, as a clear layer before applying coloured paint over the top. I am wanting to maintain the flash/shine of the foil through the transparent/candy colours. Should I layer a straight 4050 coat between layers, or just mix it into the paint to provide adhesion? Thanks in advance
4050 UVLS Gloss clear will work well as the initial coating direct to aluminum foil (6000 AutoBorne Transparent Sealer also will work well). As 4050 is added to candy2o (and should also be with transparent / other colors), applying additional coats of 4050 isn't required. The gloss and depth of the candy2o and transparent colors over the aluminum foil will come from the gloss clear applied as a top-coat. For fishing lures, a catalyzed (2k) urethane or epoxy clear is recommended. Thank you.
Very informative video as usual Chris thank you! One question, I would like to use the high gloss UV LS instead of KBS diamond clear to seal fishing lures. I see in your data sheet that it can be submerged in water after 5 days of curing. Would you recommend this as the final top coat for this application? Thanks again and keep up the great work!
The E4 cap evenly distributes Createx paints through the entire fan pattern whereas E2 cap has more material in the center of the fan pattern, as well as a smaller pattern width. The E4 cap helps prevent uneven build-up of color commonly referred to as "striping" when painting with transparent and candy colors. Thank you.

Hey Chris! I was just thinking a bit during this video. I get that the 4050 is the go-to for the candys, but what would the effect be if you mix the candy2O line with 4051 or 4052? Any chance of video testing how the candy20 looks with the different UVLS clears as carriers?
Only 4050 is recommended as the carrier for candy20; mixing with 4051 or 4052 lacks the adhesion. To create a satin or matte candy finish, apply 4051 or 4052 over candy20 mixed with 4050. Thank you.
UVLS Clears work for an object handled frequently, so they could be used on a guitar, however, we would still recommend a 2k clear for guitar refinishing as a 2k clear is more scratch resistant and that what the industry standard is, a 2k clear, so no, ultimately UVLS Clears are not recommended as a top-coat for a guitar paintjob. UVLS Clears will work in regard to adhesion, and durability as a protective coating, it will just scratch easier compared to a 2k. Thank you.
Curious, are these clears good enough to use on cars as a "normal" clear coat? Meaning, can I use this as a UV protective top coat just like solvent based 2k clears? Do I need to spray more than 2 coats for UV protection?
UVLS Clears are architectural-grade, non-catalyzed (1k) clears, suitable for exterior applications such as signs and durable enough for use on cos-play, theming and modeling, but are not as mar-resistant as are an automotive-grade, catalyzed (2) clear, for which we recommend th-cam.com/video/JuroIpJOCNo/w-d-xo.html. We recommend 3 medium-wet coats, each applied 0.5 - 0.75 mil. Re-coat time is when paint dries tack-free. Thank you.
The best top-coat clear for painting fishing lures is a catalyzed (2k) urethane or epoxy clear. UVLS Clears are not recommended for top-coating a fishing lure. Thank you.
Thank you Chris for showing the viscosity off the stir stick. I’m a visual learner and appreciate you showing the thickness this way.
Thanks for letting us know the visual of the reduced clear helped.

@@CreatexColorsThank you so much! Right there is proof about the customer service with a very quick and helpful reply!
Can this be applied over createx candy 2.0 on plastic models?
Seen somewhere that they said 2k for gloss coat only.
UVLS Clears, including 4053 High Gloss, can be applied over candy2o, and all Createx paints. Thank you.

Love the Createx products. Your videos are excellent as well. I just purchased an LPH80 1.2. what air pressure works best for that gun?
Spray using the gun manufacturer's recommended psi. We set our LPH-80 with a 1.2mm E4 tip at 18 psi inlet. Thank you.

thanks! 4053 will work excellent for modeling.
is there any point in choosing between gloss, satin, matte, if I varnish with a normal clear coat over it?? the result would be the same?? thanks
